69 – EP5. Wind Memory

The battle had ended once again. After taking a deep breath, Angel spoke to the fallen comrades.

“Phew… It was tough, but we achieved something, so let’s keep our spirits up.”

Beatrice nodded her head and said,

“Yes… The Titan was quite strong, and it was difficult to stop it, but in the end, the outcome was good, so we’ll become stronger from now on.”

Angel smiled and suddenly remembered something.

“Oh, speaking of which, I saw Lena’s father, or rather, the advanced Fire Spirit summoned by the Fairy King. What was that?”

Feria looked at Angel and said,

“Advanced Fire Spirit? Summoned by the Fairy King?”

“Yes. That spirit was the one who had the most active role on the battlefield. Did you not see it by any chance?”

“I was using all my energy to stop the Titan, so I didn’t see it… Is it true that an advanced spirit appeared? Wow… Amazing.”

“Why? Is it a big deal?”

“You don’t know much about spirits, do you? Um, you see, spirits are divided into low-level spirits, intermediate-level spirits, advanced-level spirits, top-level spirits, and Spirit Kings. Intermediate-level spirits are considered to be one out of a thousand among all spirits. But this one is even higher. What do you think?”

“It… must be very few?”

“It’s not just a small number, it’s on the level of dozens within one clan. The top-level spirits are only a few in the entire clan, and there’s only one Spirit King.”

“Wow.”

Angel exclaimed in admiration. Wasn’t it a phrase that meant a very small number even among the very few spirits?

“Spirits have a lot of factors to consider, such as affinity, so there are not many people who can handle them. It’s really the first time I’ve seen a spirit user who can handle an advanced spirit. I didn’t even think such a thing existed.”

“A lot of factors to consider?”

“Yes. Spirits don’t come from where we live, but they come from the spirit realm through a contract and come to this world, so summoning them is very difficult.”

“Really?”

“Yes. There’s a group among the Northern tribes who are said to be close to the spirits… I don’t know well either, but one thing is for sure, if there are spirit users, especially at that level, there may be only a few in the world that can be counted on one hand.”

After hearing those words, Angel exclaimed in admiration and suddenly remembered something.

“But what are clans?”

“Oh, there are four clans among the spirits. The clans of Passion, Reason, Freedom, and Patience, each responsible for fire, water, wind, and earth. So there are four Spirit Kings.”

“Oh, I see.”

“Yes. An advanced Fire Spirit, so while we were holding out, the number of enemies was significantly reduced. Lena, your father is amazing, isn’t he?”

“It’s amazing… Acting tired and bringing up laws and such towards me, who’s just a figment of your imagination….”

Lena said as she lay completely defeated.

“Anyway, that’s right. I heard that angels are similar, but I’m not sure.”

Then Beatrice approached and spoke.

“Oh, yes. Angels are similar to spirits. Instead of a spirit king, there is an archangel… Each has a lineage of humility, mercy, temperance, and justice, and they are responsible for the holy, radiant, sparkling, and luminous aspects. They receive the call of priesthood in heaven and are provided with divine power to work. In ancient times, during the genesis of the war with demons, they lived in the middle realm and even fought directly. But that’s just the story in the scriptures, and now they reside in heaven.”

Angel nodded.

“In that case, can Beatrice summon angels too?”

“Oh, yes. I can summon high-level angels too. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a situation where I needed to use them.”

Angel exclaimed.

“That’s truly astonishing, isn’t it?”

Peria also said.

“If we consider the power of spirits and angels to be equal, wouldn’t that angel be at the master level at least?”

Beatrice proudly smiled and said.

“Oh, yes. If I can summon the highest-level angels, I could even fight against Grandis. Unfortunately, I couldn’t reach that level and can only summon slightly stronger angels than myself. Of course, I haven’t summoned them because the situation hasn’t called for it.”

A while later, the messenger called them, and the conversation came to an end.

And predictably, the next day dawned, and predictably, the Titans began to attack.

“…Should we charge again this time?”

“I guess so, probably.”

Magnus hardened his face and began reciting the spell. As expected, Ivercas was summoned and appeared, and the wizards were preparing to block the Titan’s assault.

But unexpectedly, the Titan didn’t charge recklessly.

“Kuuuaaah!”

He simply roared once and began fighting with his subordinates.

“This is ridiculous!”

“Why didn’t the Titan charge suddenly?”

“Well, maybe he considered being isolated as the cause of his defeat.”

Ricardo replied, and Angel’s face hardened.

“This is a disaster. Previously, without Beatrice… without the Goddess’s saint, the Titan was planning to charge as the most effective tactic, but with Beatrice here, we can now block his charge. This means that in a chaotic battle, we are at a disadvantage.”

Indeed, unless the Titan was caught in a situation where he was surrounded by magicians, it was difficult to suppress him.

“Goddammit! This crazy god’s leftover is blocking all of my attacks!”

Ivercas reddened his face and became angered that all of his flames were being blocked.

Titan blocked Ibercas’ flames and took down several allies, leaving the Fairy Yotn to be killed just a few meters away.

“Oh… Titan is dominating the battlefield.”

As Titan increasingly disregarded Ibercas and literally tore through allies.

“Oh… Ignoring me!?”

When Ibercas approached Titan to attack, Titan grabbed Ibercas and threw him away.

“Ugh!”

Ibercas collided with a tree, causing blood to gush out. Titan rushed over and killed Ibercas.

“Oh sh*t! Ibercas is dead!”

Ibercas’ burnt body disappeared in flames, making it difficult to maintain the front line.

“sh*t! Wizards! Wizards, join the fight!”

In a desperate cry, the wizards joined forces to stop Titan’s charge. Although it was inevitable for several to die against Titan, the calculation was to minimize losses by killing more enemies.

“Eat this!”

Peria threw fireballs and thunderbolts at the monsters, and they died obediently. However, even so, Ibercas’ absence brought about a serious lack of firepower.

“Ughhh!”

Beatrice screamed and then used the most powerful miracle she could use. The club of the gods descended as the sky opened. Beatrice grabbed the handle of the enormous club that killed multiple troops by simply falling and started swinging it.

“Light’s club for evil!”

With Beatrice’s involvement, Ibercas’ absence seemed to fill up to some extent. Although many allies were sacrificed, the enemies were unable to demonstrate mechanical coordination because they had been greatly diminished by Claude. As a result, the rate at which the weakened monsters were being eliminated increased.

But then, it happened.

Titan revealed its sharp fangs as it chuckled threateningly.

“f*ck! Everyone, take cover!”

Anzel realized what it was and shouted, but the people didn’t have time to react. Perhaps, even if they had heard, they wouldn’t have been able to avoid it.

Titan began its charge.

“aaaHHH!”

With each stride, soldiers were crushed. Crushed flesh and bone fragments stuck to Titan’s feet before falling to the ground.

Titan quickly charged and started rampaging where the wizards were. The wizards tried their best to inflict damage on Titan, but their attacks had no effect. Anzel could only watch as the rear guard was annihilated.

“…Oh God, give me strength.”

Beatrice fought against Titan with the club of the gods in hand. Unlike the previous attacks, the enormous club successfully made Titan stagger, but it couldn’t inflict serious damage like breaking bones.

Eventually, Beatrice fought against Titan until her divine power ran out and died from Titan’s punch.

“This is so unbelievable, f*cking hell.”

Anzel shook his head in disbelief.

It was undoubtedly a glass battlefield, but the fact that we couldn’t even isolate a single Titan led to this outcome.

Angel had an intuition that this opportunity had slipped away.

However, he didn’t do anything like suicide.

He simply charged the Titan to the end and swung his sword.

He died.
