17 – 17. Dragon’s routine (5)

Kero X.

It was the only name that came to mind when I saw the blue-green skinned frogs that walked on two legs.

Wouldn’t it be normal for Koreans?

I don’t have the confidence to come up with a name full of their own traditional feeling, such as the name of the tribal chief, the guardian of the egg house, and no matter how desperately I try, the name that comes to mind is the name of a brightly smiling frog wearing a yellow hat.

His rank was definitely sergeant.

“Megul Megul!”

Besides, in front of my eyes, dozens of Kero Xs, who are too real and look a bit gross, are watching me with eyes full of expectations. No matter how brazen I was, I wasn’t at the point where I could shamelessly run away from this situation.

In the end, I couldn’t win their eyes and opened my mouth.

“There was an ancient amphibian warrior who lived for 10,000 years, 10,000 years and 500 years to be precise. A resident of the swamp with blue-green skin like you.”

Kero X’s age is surprisingly frightening. People who watched Tooni X’s while sitting in front of the TV when they were young would know it well.

“He lived a long time and was a great warrior and a fearsome invader. He was such a born conqueror that he left for the sky to conquer the blue star until the very end.”

The purpose of the soldier frog’s coming to Pleungbyul must have been conquest. After all, he is the same as Genghis Khan, a great conqueror who went on an expedition.

“I would like to give him a name after him. Egghouse Guardian, the child you brought is named after a great ancient conqueror.”

He smiles meaningfully and slowly raises his hand. And at the same time assuming a plausible posture, he carefully placed the fingertips he had lifted on the egg.

The feeling of eggs transmitted from the slightly raised fingertips. I feel something inside the egg quietly tremble in response to my movements.

Strangely, I felt as if I was communicating with Al. Even though that couldn’t be possible.

“Keroda.”

The moment you name it, a light breeze blows over the swamp. Surprisingly, the surroundings become quiet and the noise subsides.

Even the sound of fish splashing disappeared, and it felt as if all life in the swamp had fallen asleep in an instant.

The egg, which had been emitting a soft light, trembled slowly.

By the time the vibration of the egg gradually subsides,

“Mgulmgulmgulmgul!”

Then the cheers of the frogs followed. The roar of the inhabitants of the swamp area that breathes intense life into the quiet swamp again.

The egg nest guardian who jumped the highest turned around, lifted the egg he was holding high, and sang in clumsy human language.

“Gero! Gero! Gero! Gero! Gero!”

(Kero! Kero! Kero! Kero! Kero!)

As if in response, the frogs also copy the words of the nest guardian and shout.

““Gero! Gero! Gero! Gero! Gero!””

The cries of the excited frogs filled the swamp, and the festivities continued even after I named the special eggs.

Frogs dance around the fire, and musician frogs sitting in huddles puff out their cheeks and play music by slapping the water surface with their palms.

When the raw fish restaurant’s frog ran out of fish meat, the guardian of the egg house happily made a gesture and restocked the food from the warehouse.

It succeeded in stopping human sacrifice, which was the original purpose, and also succeeded in preventing any further recurrence. And as a bonus, they gave a child a name as they wished, so they did everything they had to do.

The reason I should be here anymore is gone. It was at that moment when I got up thinking that I should leave soon.

Splash splash!

The sound of splashing is different from the noise of fish bouncing on the surface of the water. The sound of something huge stomping ferociously across the swamp came from the outskirts of the tribe.

In an instant, a tense atmosphere spread among the frogs who heard the sound, and the egg nest guardian clutched the spear he had put down again.

with a splash! with a splash!

The gigantic splashing sound slowly began to grow louder and louder. Fear was slowly growing among the frogmen who were talking loudly, wondering if the frogs knew who the owner of that sound was.

“Megul! Megul! Megul! Megul Megul!”

The egg house guardian shouted in an urgent voice. The meaning of the words of the guardian of the egg house, which was shouted in the language of frogmen that ordinary people could not understand, was simple.

(King of the swamp! Protect! Spawning pond! Frog eggs! Block!)

All the frogs moved in an orderly manner, and then everyone started bringing weapons one by one.

Stone spears and stone knives made with crude workmanship, steel weapons that seemed to have been stolen from human travelers, and flag spears made from the bones of unknown giant animals.

The Frogmen, all armed in an instant, gathered in a circle like forming a square and completely blocked the road. In the meantime, a huge splashing noise came close, as if the owner of the sound was already at a distance.

with a splash! with a splash!

The owner of the sound finally appeared near the fire pit. The identity of the monster that the guardian of the egg house described as the king of the swamp in the language of the frogmen was truly huge enough to scare them.

A gigantic body that was 2 meters high and about 4 meters long. Reddish-brown skin similar to that of frogs. Both small eyes that read the light seemed to have lost their sight as if they had degenerated. A mouth as gigantic as a giant head. Big wrinkles all over the body from head to tail.

Long-lived salamander.

The opponent was a gigantic salamander that felt grotesque. Literally, when a giant salamander grew to the size of a house, it would look just like that.

From my point of view, it was a funny-looking monster, but from the Frogman’s point of view, it seems that it was not so.

“Mgur! Megur! Megur!”

“Mgurr! Meguru! Megurur!”

Heck, it’s a funny-looking monster from my point of view, which is much bigger than that giant salamander, but from the perspective of Frogman, who are about the size of children, it’s like a mythical horror that can swallow them in one bite.

I understand why they are so afraid. Even from what the frogs say, it seems it hasn’t been a day or two since the king of the swamp suddenly invaded the tribe.

At some point, they periodically break through the fence and invade the tribe, invade the spawning pond where the frogs’ precious egg nests are stored, eat all the eggs, and then leave.

In human terms, is this the same as when a monster the size of a house suddenly appears in a kindergarten and eats up all the precious children?

… It’s so scary.

When I thought that too, I almost screamed in fear.

bang! bang!

“Mgul!”

(battle!)

The guardian of the egg house, who was determined to fight, encouraged the tribesmen by striking the tip of his spear on the ground. Several frogs, who had been sitting down with their legs shaking in fear, jumped up again when they heard the voice of the nest guardian.

A giant salamander, which was slowly walking along with its nose snoring at a slow pace, seems to have sensed the will of the frogs and opens its mouth wide and howls in anger.

[–Grrrmm–!]

A loud, low-pitched roar. The monster’s cry, which felt like dozens of drums were playing at the same time, was quite scary even for me to hear.

However, the frogs, who were behind the spawning pond where their precious children were, did not get out of the way even though they were afraid of the salamander. He aimed the tip of his spear at the monster and let out a battle cry similarly.

Before the mythical battle between a giant salamander the size of a house and a tribe of bipedal frogs to protect their egg nests unfolded.

I slowly raised my upper body from lying down.

Then, open your mouth wide and take a deep breath.

exhale

Roaring!!

The hot flames that swirled in his heart rose up through the air in his lungs and were expelled out of his mouth.

The dragon’s most powerful proprietary weapon.

flame breath.

Flames like molten lava burst out of the world.

The flames attacked the monster salamander, which acted without fear even in front of the dragon, and in the place where the terrible dragon’s flame that easily melted steel passed, there was only a large pile of ashes and the ground where even the water in the swamp dried up. .

The giant salamander that acted fearlessly and arrogantly in front of me was unable to even utter a scream and was instantly reduced to ashes.

“Mgurrr!”

Then I lay back on the floor with satisfaction, listening to the voices of the primitive frogs praising me.
