A Wish to Grab Happiness

Episode IX: Kalia Birdnick Again

"Yep... then follow the tavern dueling rules, Miss Kalia Birdnick. Rugis, execute a duel between the two names!

A wild horse making noise as soon as possible, at the same time as Grandpa Richard's declaration. He who strikes a table with pottery filled with liquor all the time asking him to do it quickly. Who orders extras for good food. Again, he who bets money on which wins. That looks different, but everyone is definitely irresponsibly amused.

Or Richard's grandfather, what the hell are you doing? Obviously, I'm gonna cut off the betting torso.

"Ooh, Rugis. I'll pick up the bones. At least let them hold it together."

I knew perfectly well that there was no longer anything to expect from this spiteful grandfather. No, there's no mistake in knowing. Unexpectedly, a deep sigh leaks.

The two knives that return to the waist shake a razor because they treated the warcraft opponent roughly. If we don't meet, it's going to break from the ground up.

Hilariously, take a peek at the dueling opponent and nominated Kalia Birdnick.

Oh I see. A full smile. Besides, that's not something that includes joy. It's evil. It's a laugh when you're bluffing. Even on the Savior's journey, I've seen that happen a few times.

Weird. Why, how did this happen? I'm not supposed to have done anything wrong.

He entered the tavern and took his seat, prompted by a grinning Kalia Birdnick. One step above the other table. Seating rates are higher than usual. I've never sat down, but for a chivalrous girlfriend, it wouldn't be very expensive either.

"Er... that big, apparently safe crusade, should I say congratulations"

"Oh. I also submitted the report and his demonic nucleus to the Knights as a sign of my crusade. They were panicking, and Birdnick's daughter gave them credit."

Demon Nucleus. The thing that commands the Warcraft. There is also the theory that it is the Warcraft itself. As proof of killing the Warcraft, there is nothing more. An object with condensed magic powers, it was also used for sorcery operations in the future.

When she threw it at me, Karia Birdnick threw it away to laugh. I know you have some thoughts, but I can't cut it to that depth.

The beginning was surprisingly peaceful. Something like an extension of the public discourse, rather of the future. Have I ever had a mediocre exchange with her so far? With that in mind, it's a scary peace in a way.

But that also changed the flow where the second glass of wine was brought.

"So. How did you leave that place?

"Why not? Even if I stay there, it'll get in the way. By and large, you get in the way every time..."

Block your mouth there. No. She wasn't the one who kept saying I was in the way. It's the future Karia Birdnick. At least she's in front of me right now, not the woman who was in the way of me. The same person, yes.

Karia Birdnick opens her mouth, frowning in surprise.

"Don't tell me that sometimes you don't know what happened in the woods. I told him to watch. But you defied it. Even if it fell, it was my word in the cavalier class."

The clouds are getting worse. This woman was beginning to understand a little bit of what she was trying to say.

But why? I'm not sure about that.

"... in this country, you will be punished if you defy what the upper class says. You want me to take that?

I said that to ask for my mood, keeping my gaze low.

Sure, it's close to custom, but such a law lives. So if Kalia Birdnick wants me to be punished, it's easy. Even so, it would be about a few days of heavy labor with precision. But did you get so hungry that you broke your word? Somewhat questionable. To my knowledge, a man named Kalia Birdnick didn't seem to be the one to pinch his mouth to such a detail.

"Of course you can do that. But that's too narrow. Besides, I didn't come here for that. I just came to make sure."

Oh, yes, as I recall, she said.

"You, what's your name?

"... Rugis. It's just Rugis. It's a muddy name, though."

"Right. So, Rugis, what I want to ask you is a mountain. But there's only one thing that matters, why did you help me?"

I'm guessing you're talking about flying off to that big warcraft.

Why? That's hard to ask again. What popped up there was like being shaken and moved by impulsive, momentary emotions. But then she was very unconvinced. It's more important to reason that she agrees and gets out of here quickly.

Anyway, the gaze of the surrounding guests hurts from earlier. When talking to a woman in a place like this, and to the chivalry, becomes a big deal, I don't know what kind of disaster awaits me later.

So, at this time, I responded lightly.

"Well, if you have a beautiful young lady, isn't it a man's sex to help?"

One beat, silence was between the two of us. And Kalia Birdnick said, with a wonderful and beautiful grin from her righteous face.

"I see, that's an insult"

"What... Huh?

"Master! Prepare for the duel! This man has just insulted me. I'll settle that in a duel!

Her often passing, passing voice strokes the liquor store.

The men with the liquor floated to the voice and to the word duel as though they were in heat. I immediately pulled the table and started asking for the addition of booze as I made the place.

Why? What is an insult, rather a compliment?

"I told you. I'm a chivalry. I didn't know you'd say anything to me like that to a weak woman."

My cheeks get bumpy. These upper-class guys are bad at this, so I can't help it.

I do things like that every day that cross the edge of the word. And an offensive grin sticking to its neat face. I know what this face means. When this Kalia Birdnick gives this look. It's

"If you win, I'll forgive you for this one. But when I win,"

It's time to show some irrational meanness towards me.

"You are my servant. Let's use him relentlessly."

Now I understand. This woman, she was willing to do the same, no matter what I answered, she must have.
