37 – Episode 37: Slay the Inhumans

The illusionary magic unfolded before the Forest Corps, the elite forces of Terosa, the guards, Rosalia, and Tendrial.

There, within the illusion, Tendrial and Casey were engaged in a fierce battle, as if they were about to kill each other.

The brutality and cruelty of the battle were so intense that anyone watching would feel distressed.

“This, this is! It’s all Wolfgang’s plot! Why would I fight with Casey? It makes no sense!”

Tendrial, greatly bewildered, lost his composure and started shouting.

However, no one paid attention to his vehement self-defense.

In the illusionary magic, the voice of Tendrial, wrapped around Casey’s neck, echoed.

Casey, where did you stash the emergency funds?

What… are you talking about?

All the bribes you’ve taken so far…

“What is this talk?”

“Casey, taking bribes?”

“That can’t be true…”

The conversation about bribes and more within the illusion shocked all the soldiers and guards of Terosa, who always held Casey in high regard.

The regular army and guards present at the scene began to murmur.

Rosalia, too, was shocked by the content, but more than that, she was concerned about the fact that Terosa’s army seemed to be sympathetic.

‘Casey… You’re not helpful even in death…’

Amidst the confusion, time continued to flow within the illusion.

As Tendrial, shocked by the revelation, discussed Casey’s whereabouts regarding the bribes, Tendrial, for some reason, released the arm that was strangling Casey’s neck.

Freed, Casey immediately kicked Tendrial’s abdomen.

Due to a blade attached to the front of the shoe, Tendrial’s abdomen started dripping dark red blood.

In that scene, Tendrial covered his bandaged abdomen with his hand.

The illusion continued to reveal the next scenes.

Tendrial, who had broken Casey’s legs and subdued her, approached her, drawing a dagger to slit her throat. With blood spurting from her neck, Casey, on the brink of death, was cradled by Tendrial in a final, haunting image.

The scene, vividly depicting the murder, brought forth intense anger from all of Terosa’s soldiers, including the guards who had witnessed it.

“These inhuman bastards!”

“It’s a mistake that criminals like them were ever part of the Order!”

“Did Casey associate with scum like that?”

“Die, Tendrial!”

“Tendrial is in league with Wolfgang!”

Jeers and accusations rained down on the Forest members and Tendrial.

The Forest members, in turn, bared their sharp fangs, displaying their hostile reactions.

Rosalia’s headache resurfaced. The revelation that Casey had associated with the Forest and that Tendrial, not Wolfgang, had killed her was spreading among everyone.

She couldn’t grasp how to rectify the situation. “These crazy bastards…even if we join forces, it’s not enough for the impending crisis…”

Haganess is seizing control of the sect and building an independent power.

Wolfgang, who consistently threatens the royal palace, is in a situation where his own throat could be slit anytime, anywhere.

Amidst the headache-inducing matters, Casey’s death piled on top.

If only the Queen herself knew the truth and could exploit Tendrial and her subordinates by incorporating them into Terosa’s army.

However, with the truth now revealed to everyone, accepting them would be akin to sacrificing Rosalia’s own neck.

“Damn it! It’s not true! This is all Wolfgang’s scheme, right? Why would I kill Casey! It’s all manipulation, manipulation! Everyone knows that changing appearances with illusion magic is child’s play!”

Tendrial’s fervent self-defense held no meaning for the enraged soldiers.

Rosalia gazed at the army on the verge of exploding and made a decision.

Despite the need to draw another force into the situation, it was unavoidable to create another enemy.

With a headache building, the Queen realized that everything was unfolding according to Wolfgang’s plan.

The person who could witness and encapsulate the battle scene between Casey and Tendrial without being detected by illusion magic.

And the person who could enchant that magic onto Tendrial’s body without her noticing.

The person who could cast a spell so that the magic would automatically activate in a specific area.

In this world, only the Queen herself was capable of such feats.

However, since she had just learned the truth within the illusion magic, if it wasn’t her, the only one capable of manipulating illusion magic like that was Wolfgang.

He could use any technology as if it were his own.

“Wolfgang… you truly torment in various ways… I’ll do as you wish.”

“All troops!”

Rosalia’s resounding voice cut through the jeers and criticisms that filled the space in front of the royal palace.

Everyone stopped their actions, as if waiting for the next command to descend.

Attack those inhuman beings quickly, the order to tear apart Tendrial, the hero of Terosa who killed the Forest members, rang out.

“Traitor Tendrial and the Forest, eliminate them here! Leave none alive!”

“Damn it, Rosalia!”

Tendrial spat curses at her sentence, akin to a death sentence.

Terrified, Terosa’s soldiers rushed towards the Forest members and Tendrial as the queen’s command fell.

Most of the Forest members were helpless against the armed soldiers as they were bound with handcuffs.

Tendrial, watching her subordinates being cut and pierced to death by swords and spears, felt a sense of dizziness.

“Pull yourself together. You have to find a way to escape.”

In the chaos, Tendrial frantically pulled out potions from her pockets and began drinking them as soon as they were in her hands.

When a large amount of medication was injected at once, her body had a visceral reaction.

The pain of eyeballs burning and the deafening sound as if her ears were being torn apart tormented her.

Tendrial clenched her eyes shut and endured the horrifying pains.

After the tsunami of agony passed, she opened her eyes to find the blade of a Terosa regular soldier’s sword frozen in front of her.

Not just the blade, but everything visible seemed to be perfectly frozen as if time had stopped.

Tendrial cleared the crimson haze before her eyes and stabbed the soldier holding the sword in the neck before moving forward.

Terosa’s regular army, guards, and the diverse inhabitants of the Forest were mixed together, creating chaos.

Tendrial leaped into the frozen chaos, releasing the shackles of the orc entangled with soldiers and handing him the sword the soldier had held.

She redirected the direction of arrows flying towards goblins towards a guard standing next to them.

Thus, Tendrial created a favorable situation for the Forest members and escaped from the battlefield.

In her eyes, Rosalia, standing on a pedestal, came into view.

Around the queen, there was an invisible barrier-like shield.

Knowing Tendrial’s abilities well, she undoubtedly used a protective shield spell right after issuing the attack order.

Tendrial’s plan to detain her to overturn the situation in one go turned out to be in vain.

Staring at the queen, Tendrial soon began to bleed from her nose.

The side effects were due to excessive drug use.

Not knowing what sequelae would follow when the effects wore off, Tendrial decided to move quickly.

“Well, there’s no choice…”

Tendrial sighed with regret and moved to execute the next plan.

She dashed towards the morgue.

Breaking the necks of the guards at the door, she entered and began searching for someone’s corpse.

The bodies of the warrior Adeus, slain by Wolfgang, and the Queen’s Guard Captain were also present.

Tendrial trembled at the gruesome sight.

“…He’s insane. Truly.”

Thinking of Wolfgang, Tendrial also pondered when he had implanted the illusion magic on her own body.

‘Ah!’

When Wolfgang appeared in the forest, slaughtering her subordinates, strangely, he did not attack Tendrial.

Terrified, she closed her eyes, awaiting death, but Wolfgang simply ignored her.

Until just now, she thought Wolfgang had frightened her to dry up her blood.

It was assumed to be a cruel and brutal act to mentally destroy her for revenge.

‘That moment…’

Thinking back, she had closed her eyes, hoping for a peaceful death.

“It was then. Hahaha.”

Tendrial began to laugh oddly, as if in despair.

“I’d rather just go and ask him to kill me.”

Tendrial was startled by the unconsciously uttered words and quickly covered her mouth.

‘What am I saying? Pull yourself together.’

She shook her head vigorously as if to clear her thoughts.

Regaining composure, Tendrial found the stairs leading to the morgue’s underground.

And she stepped towards the dimly lit underground.
