The Marquess's Amnesia

Twenty-third. Five Stories I Can Burn On The Moon Goddess * Duke's Perspective

"... Tasha must resent me. I couldn't take care of the end of her suffering..."

There was a constant overflow of loneliness and nothingness from the big holes empty in his chest, which was going to stain him with madness.

She came somewhere far away from the lively hustle and bustle of the night club, resting in the dim corner of the garden trying to cool off the liquor. Even in the dark night garden, he gave off a brightly blooming deep red rosy fragrance and sat at will next to me.

Still drunk, I was spitting weak noises at her that I wouldn't have spoken if I were plain.

"... Your wife must resent your Excellency. No matter how much I tell her I love her, she won't stay by her side at the end of the day. Your wife must have been sad and lonely."

The words determined my heart. I can't stand the overflowing pain and cover my face with both hands.

"It is still true that you loved your wife wholeheartedly. I remember it well, my lord."

I slowly raised my face to a comforting voice. A luxurious hand is attached to my arm and the smell of strong perfume strokes my nose tip.

Red lips gently arced and Hazel's eyes narrowed like cats.

"... remember, will you?

"I remember. The fact that you loved your wife is nothing short of fact."

Fluffy and glossy grins were dropped. Pregnant enough to soothe, that grin burned vividly into my retina without vanishing in the darkness of a dark night.

That was the meeting between me and Sandra.

If I slowly opened my eyes, it was on the bed in the bedroom I was used to seeing.

Wake up your body in slow motion and ring the bell that was placed on your pillow. That way I didn't wait a few seconds and James, the butler, I guess, held me back in the room, opened the curtain on the ceiling and turned up.

Sir, are you awake?

"Oh. I feel like I haven't slept slowly in a while"

To my answer, James loosened his expression.

James is still half thirty and young, but his father also serves the Duke of Hooksberger family as a family ordinance. What's more, James' grandfather has served me since my father still held the title First Prince. James' father and I were young people who seemed kind of like sons because they weren't that old.

When asked for tea, James disappeared beyond the nodding curtain. I get out of bed and head for the couch, too. Soon it seemed like it was night and beyond the window the moonlight gently lit a wide garden.

Looking at it blurry, I turn my face to the sound of a chatter and tea vessel ringing.

"When the Marquise's maid told me that you had fallen, I was surprised to chill your liver."

Tea was placed in front of me with those words, and the wrap of cookies that that beautiful lady gave me was also gently placed next door. I'll take it and untie the ribbon. It's a cookie full of nuts and chocolate.

"Poisoning."

"No, I don't mind."

Turning down James' words, I grab a cookie and grab it in my hand. Cookies rich in butter flavors were delicious with aromatic nuts and bitter, sweet chocolate on a crisp texture. It tasted kind of whacky in those days when I was just mouthing this and all the first-class products. It also goes well with James's brewed tea.

"It's delicious. One for you, too."

Encouraging him to sit in the dark, James lowered his back to the couch in front of him after showing a slight hesitation. See, I received one of the cookies I offered and carried it to my mouth. The deacon, who heard a good noise and preferred something sweet to a glimpse, had broken his expression.

"It's delicious."

"Oh. It tastes sweet."

The other of the other two gives James, chewing the last one slowly.

"Speaking of which, he said the Marquise, did you find out who it was?"

Again, this one looked important. The butler looked up and nodded, yes.

"I'm the Marquise of Springfield. After I saw my husband sleep, I realized I had borrowed that lady's handkerchief, and my husband went back to the Knights to find out that he would definitely pay me back. Luckily, she was the wife of a famous person, so I could tell just by asking her at the office. Handkerchief here."

Receive a handkerchief removed from nowhere. I did the laundry and you must have hit the fire iron. It's so beautiful. The white silk handkerchief was laced on the edge, just, on the top, with a beautiful pink rose embroidery. What a young lady might like.

"The Marquise of Springfield means William is your wife... although I did hear she was sick? That's what I would have said."

"Yeah. It seems like I've been sleeping a lot for six months since your marriage, but lately things have been going a lot better. She also went to the orphanage. Rumors have been made in town with the Moon Goddess. Originally, there were rumors that you were beautiful, but I was surprised to see you today."

"Goddess of the Moon, or... she was indeed a beautiful person. Beautiful and kind woman."

He grinned and lay down his eyes, and threw the last chip into his mouth.

"I also heard that the Marquis has been busy for the past year or so and can barely get home, so there was also a theory of disharmony in circulation for a while, but we seem to be getting along very well. The Marquis fell overworked the other day, didn't he? It looks like we've been getting along ever since."

"Oh, speaking of which, there was a lump of exclusivity shining in her chest"

I remember a blue, shining sapphire that reminds me of his hero's eyes, and I squeal my throat and laugh.

"... Speaking of which, I'll tell you, Sandra called for a tailor again."

James said a little, uncomfortable.

"If that distracts you, make him like it."

The butler frowned when he said something that didn't seem to fall to his heart.

"But we're taking a ride to Miss Margaret.... Those two are no longer Countess or Countess. The Baron Disley family refuses to pick it up for whatever reason. It's hard to say, but you two are no different than civilians anymore."

"Well, wait, James. She's a kind woman who comforted me with Istasha's death."

"Even so, I must have already returned the favor and the deed just because I took refuge from the Marquis. … As for Miss Margaret, lately, she has been calling out that she deserves the Marquis of Springfield, and when she gets grumpy, she sifts violence against her samurai and maids."

"Violence? You can't have it. Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

James turned to look like a bum and looked bad. Perhaps my father and I were stopped by the family order building.

"Any injuries to that samurai and maid? Is that terrible?

"... no, no major injuries just because I got my cheeks covered and my hair pulled. My father gives me a special vacation to take care of myself."

"Arrange for me to buy them one favorite thing at a time to apologize. And for Margaret's sake, you don't have to wear a maid or a samurai. Let yourself take care of yourself."

James nodded with his face gleaming all the way to my words.

"I'll be sure to tell my father later"

"Please.... William, you definitely deserve a kind-hearted sister. You're sick and weak in the first place. Shouldn't you be happy because your sister was so happy to marry you because she worried about what?

"Sir, you're still blunt about that"

For Christ's sake, James told me like I was stunned. The face is a little annoying, looking just like his father's.

"Miss Margaret has always complained extensively about Master Liliana. To Liliana's habits, at Liliana's minute, he said. That type of hand cares about your looks and worldly body, so you must have just pretended to worry about the sick and weak Liliana. For fifteen years, Liliana, who has always tended to be so ill that she cannot even get out of the mansion, was married to the Marquis family that in just six months she was able to go out to the orphanage because she had obtained an environment where she could rest in peace with a decent doctor."

"... Sandra and Margaret were a little too spoiled during this time, so maybe it's about that. Well, let Margaret take care of herself in her room until she finds her daughter-in-law."

"Yes, sir."

James stood up and, for a moment, as soon as he wondered if he had gone somewhere, he brought a fountain pen and a note and put them on the table.

"Please bring the current wording here, with your signature"

I don't think it's a big deal, but she's a violent, violent daughter to the servants of people's houses. I guess you're not convinced it's not even my signature.

I sign my name by writing a few softer words to tell you not to leave the room and to take care of yourself. James nodded contentedly and the ink dried before folding into his chest pocket.

Watching that look, I drink tea that's gotten warm. His tea, even cold, is delicious. As a butler, there are still some immature aspects, but I guess only the skill of tea resembles my grandfather more than my father. I have something very great.

"... I thought it was Tasha."

James' hand stops trying to clean up the cookie wrapper and ribbon on the table. I turned my face out the window to escape from his eyes.

"Because my hair was the same color or my desire to be..."

Light blonde hair is not unusual in this country, but the atmosphere was somewhat similar to hers.

"... I would like to meet the Marquis and thank her in person. Find out what she likes and get us something."

"The ones I prefer are both ravioli and horns. I was wondering if it would be difficult to see you...... my husband Marquis is not close to you, so I won't let him see you on guard. Miss Margaret will be at home."

"You're gonna hate a narrow-minded man, don't you think?

"That's not the kind of word your husband could say, is it? As for your wife, you had a narrower heart than a cat's forehead."

I can't say no if they say so. I was as conscious as I was.

The sapphire that was shining on her chest looks exclusive, maybe because I have that experience too.

"... what would the hero look like if he took away the beautiful goddess"

"I think His Royal Highness Prince Wang will resent you."

"Ha, that sounds interesting. That young cousin has been wandering around me lately. You want me to take care of it."

James shrugs his shoulder like a jerk.

"Your Highness is still young, but he is excellent, so please be as good as ours."

"I'm going to bite this one, so I'm going to have to do one or two of them, right? For living a little longer than that young man."

Drink up the tea and put the cup back on the table.

"James, arrange for me to meet with the Marquis. I don't care what kind of hand you use if you can see me."

"Yes, I did. But sleep already tonight, because that's what I promised the Marquise."

said James, lowering the empty cup and saucer.

"I do have to keep my promise to the lady...... oh yeah. When you meet with Madame, you help me, you tell her maids to come too."

"Yes, I did. What else can I do for you?

"No, I'm sorry I'm late, you should rest now."

"Thank you. A family order said late tomorrow morning, so take a rest."

That being said, James left the room pushing the wagon as he bowed his head.

The large room alone is quiet.

I get up slowly and head out to the balcony. A cold breeze pregnant with signs of autumn rocks the trees in the garden.

"... beautiful moon"

Half the moon is floating in the night sky.

I drop my gaze on her handkerchief, which I kept in my hand. Did she apply the delicate embroidery? Embroidery is one of your ladies' sagging, but it's great skill nonetheless.

"... really, what would the hero look like if he took away the beautiful goddess"

I imagined that that righteous face would be distorted like a demon and that a noble soul would be imprisoned by hatred, with zero laughter.

That must have been very pleasant.
