5 – Practical lesson(2)

Practical lessons.

The Imperial Academy conducts lectures on killing monsters with real fighting training.

And today is the very day of that practical lesson.

“Everyone gather here.”

As usual, I ordered all the first-year A-class students to gather in front of me.

Then, the little chicks, whining and gathering in front of me.

“True. At a glance, they look like innocent students.”

– Of course, there could be a trap among them!

According to what Jukchang said, there might be poison mixed in there.

Among them, Senna, the candidate for the Saint, is certainly suspicious.

-Master, look at that woman’s eyes.

“I know, even without you mentioning it.”

She is looking at me with an undoubtedly intimidating stare.

She no longer seems to have any intention to hide it.

-What about the other candidates, including the Princess? Master?

“Hmm. I’m not sure. I haven’t even used the heart-testing skill yet.”

-What? Are you crazy, Master?! Why haven’t you used that yet when you’ve worked so hard to be able to use it!

I reasonably doubt whether this guy really is my weapon.

Isn’t he brushing me off too harshly for a weapon?

“If I use it now, I’ll exhaust all my mana. The demon monsters will rampage soon, so there’s no harm in being careful.”

-So, even the master has thoughts.

“You thought I didn’t?”

-If you did, you wouldn’t have created heroines like them or a secret weapon like me!

[I agree with the weapon’s opinion.]

Jukchang and the writer are unfairly ganging up.

I casually brushed off the opinions of the two and changed the topic.

“Anyway, there’s something else I’m concerned about apart from that.”

– Eh? What’s the concern?

“Yes.”

The moment I was about to answer Juchang’s question.

“You must take your students inside the gate dimension right now, Sir Elric.”

The words were carefully spoken by Veil, the professor in charge of the class next door, who had confronted me harshly on my first day.

Unlike last time, his eyes reflected a more positive light; it seemed his temperament had improved.

“Alright, we’ll move right away.”

With that, I led the students towards the gate dimension that lay before our eyes.

***

The gate dimension.

Think of it simply as the ‘anywhere door’ you’d see in a children’s cartoon.

Once inside, you can travel to any designated area.

Passing through the gate, what came into our field of vision was nothing other than-

-A lush forest and the sound of crystal-clear waves crashing upon the shore.

-“Master, where is this place?”

‘Just think of it as a deserted island.’

Of course, it’s not your average deserted island.

Monsters released by the empire live here.

In fact, it might be more accurate to think of it as a dungeon.

“Let’s go in there before the other class arrives.”

“Yes, Sir!”

The students responded enthusiastically to my command.

I led them into the building before our eyes.

The next moment.

“Let’s put these on before the other class gets here.”

I pulled silver bracelets out from my void bag and handed them to the students.

Immediately, their faces contorted in what seemed like a misunderstanding as they stared at me suspiciously.

-“Master, are you sure it isn’t that?”

‘What do you think of me?’

-Well, if the master was into little girls, you wouldn’t have spared me anyway.

I quickly cleared the misunderstanding while ignoring the self-convinced gaze.

“You misunderstand something, it’s not what you think. This is an ankle bracelet needed for this class.”

““?””

All the students tilted their heads.

I went on to explain to the students, including the protagonist of the novel.

“Hmm. So, to explain about its abilities, it is an ankle bracelet that absorbs shocks. It also has the ability to transfer.”

““?!””

The students widened their eyes in surprise.

Before they could misunderstand, I added,

“Of course, the place you can transfer to is only here.”

““Ah····.”

They seemed to try and take advantage of this immediately.

From Noble mtl dot com

Originally, only a grand magus could use this transfer ability.

Yet, there were students who wanted to use such a difficult spell right away.

Of course, there may be a future grand magus among them.

“So, put that on. It will prevent any fatal accidents.”

““Yes!””

At the end of my words, the students attached the shiny silver ankle bracelets.

Then, a moment later.

-Wow. Master. It would have been perfect if they were wearing prison uniforms.

“I can’t deny it.”

A stunning silver anklet that stands out too much. If she hadn’t been wearing a school uniform, it wouldn’t be too much to think she was a criminal.

“Who on earth invented this thing?”

As I ponder internally, I begin to hear murmuring sounds in my ears, suggesting that other classrooms had gathered around.

At the same time.

“Have you finished explaining already?”

A woman with a clear voice comes towards me, asking a question.

I turn my head towards her.

At that, with a somber voice, the Spearman said,

– Master. That woman.

‘Huh.’

A brown-haired short hair, very earnest face.

On top of that, her chest still makes a statement despite wearing armor.

It was Eve von Ross, who would become the Grandmaster and Sword Saint of the future.

‘If we look so far, it seems to be a talent of the Empire.’

The problem was that she, who would become the future Sword Saint, was one of the Yandere candidates who chased after the Devil’s Castle.

As I secretly keep an eye on her.

“Um.. Aren’t you staring a bit too much?”

Misunderstanding something, she bows her head with a face full of embarrassment.

Feeling uncomfortable for no reason, I cough awkwardly and open my mouth.

“Ahem. Ah, I apologize. You’re just too beautiful.”

“Oh, thank you.”

– From my point of view, Master is the problem.

‘Be quiet.’

At the same time as I responded to Jukchang’s tackle, I said, “In any case, regarding the question from Commissioner Eve, the explanation has been already given. I believe there’s no need to unnecessarily address it later. Was this perhaps incorrect?”

“Oh, no. Of course, it doesn’t matter at all!”

At that moment, Eve, who was shaking her head with a swing of her hand.

I opened my mouth with a nod, “I see. I will have to continue with the explanation then.”

“Oh, sure! I’ll excuse myself now.”

With those final words, she bobbed her head and dashed off.

Seeing her behavior, I felt the absurdity, as always.

‘She really doesn’t seem like a Yandere when judged plainly like this.’

-Master. Don’t be fooled. Although her skills are impressive, never fall for it.

According to Jukchang’s words, her usual appearance looked as if she were a shy person, but the reality was…

‘Ugh, I don’t even want to imagine.’

Remembering our dance (?) for a moment, goosebumps popped on my forearm.

And then, when I brushed off those goosebumps on my forearm,

“Commissioner Ellick, have you finished all the explanations?”

Veil, who had somehow finished all the explanations, asked.

I dropped my head in agreement and replied,

“Oh, I’m sorry. I will explain to the students right away.”

With those words, I finished explaining the entire lecture to the students of Class A.

***

In fact, there is nothing special about practical classes.

“Just simply endure the deserted island for 24 hours.

No more than that, there won’t be anything beyond that.

All the professors, including myself, were momentarily gazing at the crystal ball screen.

‘Hmmm. Nothing seems different from the last round yet.’

The monster didn’t go berserk at the start of the lecture.

The exact time is a bit fuzzy in my memory, but I recall it was around the time when half of it passed.

That moment when I was grudgingly staring at the screen.

“Wow. Didn’t the skills of the students in Class A improve a lot?”

“Indeed? It seems that they were not that good during the entrance exam.”

“Well, it looks like the rumor that Erik’s lectures are good is true. Looking at how much they’ve changed.”

“I would love to check it out as well.”

Professors praising while watching the movements of class A students.

It’s true that Class A students’ skills have improved, as the professors said.

It’s because I have shared a bit of my secret along with my training methods.

But still.

‘This level of fuss over them is too much.’

I haven’t even given real education yet.

If I had decided to give Korean-style education, all students would have grown more than that.

But, I think there’s no need to push them so hard yet.

‘I’m still figuring out how to defeat the demon king, anyway.’

-Weren’t you supposed to defeat it?

‘At first, I thought that way too.’

But it seems there’s nothing good about it when I think about it.

In reality, was the Demon King not as weak as I thought?

The moment I decide to defeat it, I feel the author will whine about the lack of content again.

Therefore, it won’t be bad to make the protagonist in the novel stronger and have them defeat the demon king.”

“Well, this is just one of the plans though.”

– The master really is meticulous during these times.

“Being meticulous is actually good.”

Anyway, although we’ve momentarily digressed, the reason those professors next to me are praising me is quite obvious.

It’s because I’m one of the offspring of the Duke’s family, of which there are only three in the empire.

“They must be doing it just to flatter.”

– Hmm. Based on their blushing faces, I don’t think that’s the case.

“Oh, come on. If the master says so, then it’s right!”

Ignoring the firm opinion of the spearfish and looks away at that moment.

“Hmm?”

Suddenly, noise began to interfere with the display.

“That’s…”

Then, suddenly, on the screen, the monsters started to emit a more ferocious spirit than usual.

At that moment, I realized.

The rampage of the monsters has begun.

***

10 minutes before the monsters went out of control.

At the previous episode, there was a fact that Elik didn’t know fully at that moment as he was busy trying to survive.

It was none other than the fact that the rampage of the monsters didn’t occur naturally.

There was an entity that had artificially incited the rampage of the monsters.

It was none other than…

“Ah…! Finally, it’s over!”

It must have been a demon who was working under the command of the demon king’s officer.

Stretching leisurely with a contented face, as a company employee who has just finished his overtime work.

Soon after, she flapped her wings and slowly looked back.

“I wonder how His Majesty the Demon King could possibly create something like this.”

A floating round sphere of demonic energy.

On the outside, it just appeared to be an ordinary black orb, but in reality, it contained the power to send monsters into a frenzy with its magic. However, since it was still in the testing phase, it would stop as time passed. ‘Anyway, all I have to do is observe to see if it works properly.’ With this thought, he observed the rampaging monsters amusedly, oblivious to the fact that the legendary spear that had made the Demon King cry out was here.
