73 – EP5. Wind Memory

Angel opened his eyes during the time when the evening sky bathed in golden light. He squinted in the brightness.

He began to reflect on what he had been doing before losing consciousness. He had definitely attacked the Titan multiple times, even dying in the process, but…

Angel realized that he had finally brought down the Titan.

A smile appeared on Angel’s face. Well, he tried to smile. Achieving his goal, even after multiple deaths, should have given him a sense of accomplishment, but he didn’t feel it.

All he felt was an overwhelming fatigue coursing through his entire body. His palm had probably been slightly burned, but he didn’t seem to care anymore. Even the pain had become inconsequential at this point.

“Are you awake? Get some more rest.”

Angel looked at the person next to him. It was Lena. Lena had emerald-colored eyes, and she was speaking with the golden evening sky as a backdrop.

“…Where is this?”

It was only then that Angel was able to figure out where he was. He felt a soft bed that would never be available on the battlefield.

“Our royal palace. Not too shabby, right?”

Angel examined the walls and the ceiling. Even though it was clear that no artificial hand had touched it, natural materials and growth were harmoniously arranged as pillars and other elements.

“Yeah, it’s beautiful.”

Angel replied. Since he was sincere, there was no reason for him to struggle to speak.

“Yeah, and we wiped out the Titan and his subordinates, of course.”

Angel heard the result.

“But isn’t it too much to give you that role? How could they think of putting you on the Titan’s shoulders? You should have been reprimanded by your father or brother for this.”

“No, it’s okay,” Angel interrupted Lena. Lena pursed her lips.

“Well, there’s nothing to be done. After all, it was all good in the end. Of course, excluding your physical condition. Do you even know how many days you’ve been sleeping?”

“For how many days…”

“It’s been one day. I slept through the whole day and only woke up in the evening. In the beginning, we all thought you would wake up soon, but later on, we just took turns watching over you.”

“I see, I understand.”

Rena replied to Angel’s words.

“Well, there’s nothing to be done. Just rest a little longer. Not only is your body tired, but your mind must be fatigued from sleeping for so long. And since you’ve been sleeping for a while, you’ll be even more tired.”

“Well, I do feel a bit groggy now, but are you saying that if I sleep for a long time, I’ll be tired?”

“Yes, if you sleep for too long, you’ll get tired. Didn’t you know?”

“No, I didn’t know. I haven’t slept for four days before.”

“Now you’ve experienced it. Rest a little longer. We’ll celebrate the hero who defeated Titan tomorrow.”

As Rena said this and got up from her seat, Angel covered the dazzling golden sky with a blanket and closed her eyes. Angel fell asleep quickly.

Angel woke up again the next morning. Stretching and getting up, she heard a rumbling sound coming from her stomach.

“Oh, you’re awake?”

Beatrix entered the room where Angel was lying down and said.

“Oh, yeah. I’m awake.”

Angel said.

“By the way, since you slept for a long time, you must be hungry. Please wait a moment. I’ll bring you some clothes to change into.”

Angel nodded.

She changed from her pajamas to clothes worn outside. Worried, Angel asked.

“Doesn’t this smell like sweat? If I’ve been lying down for a long time, there must be a lot of sweat smell.”

“Oh, Peria used purification magic. It gets rid of dirt.”

“Oh, I see.”

That’s why there was no scent of sweat.

After nodding her head, Angel followed Beatrix’s guidance and started making her way to the dining hall. Perhaps due to sleeping for too long and not eating, her arms and legs felt shaky as she walked. Her strength in her hands was also weak.

As Angel descended to the dining hall, the cooks were busy setting all sorts of dishes on the table.

“Oh, you’re here?”

Peria said. She was already sitting down, having her meal.

“Yes. What about Rena?”

Angel glanced around the dining hall and noticed that Rena wasn’t there.

“I don’t know. Someone called for Rena’s older brother, so she went.”

When Peria replied, Angel turned off her mind.

“Start with this. If you suddenly eat something hard after not eating for a few days, it may upset your stomach.”

Sain handed Angel a soup made with cream. Inside were vegetables like potatoes and carrots. It was a simple soup that was not much different from what she ate back home.

Angel put the cream soup in her mouth and chewed on the vegetables. Actually, she thought wrong. This was quite different from what she used to eat back home. It was mainly in the realm of vegetables.

“What is this? How does it taste like this?”

When Angel pointed to the bowl and asked, Beatrice chuckled and replied.

“Isn’t it fascinating? We were surprised too. The fairies are incredibly good at growing vegetable-like things instead of being vegetarian. Each vegetable is much better than what we ate in the empire, so we were amazed as soon as we had a bite. Of course, the priests shouldn’t indulge in gluttony.”

As Beatrice spoke, Angel started to devour the soup. She didn’t forget her manners, but her eating speed had become quite fast. After eating a bite of food, her stomach seemed even more unsettled.

“Oh… It’s definitely delicious.”

When Angel said that, Sain handed her a piece of bread.

Unlike what she used to eat back home, it was a soft white bread. Angel tore the bread and tasted it, then nodded her head.

“Oh, this is good too.”

“Yeah, you haven’t done much and your body must be weak from being bedridden for so long, so eat plenty.”

“But what about Titan? Lena said that he had dealt with everyone under him as well.”

“Oh, yeah. While you were in no position to speak, that spirit shot flames into their throats to deal with Titan. The spirit’s fire was stronger than we thought.”

When Sain spoke, Angel’s eyes widened. Now that she thought about it, she hadn’t received the catalyst back yet.

“Oh, so do you know where that spirit is? I have something to say.”

“We don’t know where that spirit is, but we’re planning to have dinner with the Fairy King tonight.”

“Oh, really? Okay, got it.”

“Try this too. It’s butter. The fairies don’t eat meat, but dairy farming has developed instead. I think they said it was made from goat’s milk or something.”

Angel chewed and swallowed the food without refusing.

After finishing her meal, Angel went to find Eberkas. No one refused Angel’s request to take a walk for a moment, and she declined the offer of a guide from the fairies.

The palace, bathed in warm sunshine, looked truly peaceful. It was such a peaceful sight that she couldn’t recall the sight of herself struggling with Titan.

“Oh, are you awake?”

Angel looked at the spirit with flowing red hair and amethyst-like eyes.

“I was worried because you collapsed after setting up a plan to capture Titan, but you seem fine. I’m glad.”

It was Eberkas. Angel replied.

“Yes, I’m glad too. But I want to get the Catalyst back, is that possible?”

“Oh, of course it is. It was originally yours. But this Catalyst thing, it seems to drain magical power just by being nearby. Are you okay? I’m worried about your current condition.”

Angel opened her mouth after hearing the words of the dazzling man.

“Yes, it was just a faint from accumulated fatigue, my physical condition is perfectly fine. You don’t need to worry.”

“Okay, then.”

Everalcas handed the Catalyst to Angel.

“Magnus said he would be treating you to dinner tonight, so be careful. He may be my client, but if he likes someone, he really pours a lot of alcohol.”

Angel replied to Everalcas’ joking warning.

“I’ll be careful. Did you say tonight?”

“Yes, that’s right. And don’t faint again.”

After exchanging final greetings with Everalcas, Angel began to walk through the Fairy Palace and the capital of the fairy kingdom.

Angel felt like he could understand why this place was referred to as blessed by nature. The wind brushing through his hair, the grass swaying in the breeze, all exuded a strong and vibrant vitality.

Angel stepped out of the palace and truly began to see the capital of the fairies. The fairies found it fascinating to see humans in their capital, and Angel tasted the unique energy that emanated from places with many people, whether he liked it or not.

The fairies all had blond hair melted in sunlight and emerald-colored eyes. They were different from humans with various hair colors and eye colors. Angel walked through the capital with such thoughts in mind.

Looking at the unique clothing and architectural styles that he couldn’t see in human cities, Angel saw a fairy approaching him.

“Well, I think you should start to come back now. There isn’t much time left for dinner.”

Angel nodded his head.
