31 – Tower owner dreaming of the beyond (7)

As we crossed the dimensional door, damp air greeted us.

The place we got off was a dark and damp hallway.

It seemed to be underground, judging by the dimly burning torches and the regular sound of dripping water.

Captain Vivian whispered as he pulled out his arming sword.

“Is this the wizard’s lair?”

“At least it doesn’t look like a wizard’s bedroom.”

“It’s a very gloomy place.”

Looking back, the portal through which we came out was gone, replaced by a cold stone wall.

“Let’s go for now. The burning torch means it’s not completely closed. There must be an exit somewhere.”

I picked up a torch from the wall and went forward along the corridor.

“Healer, what are you doing?”

When I turned around at Vivian’s words, I saw Celestine standing tall in her seat, gasping for breath.

“Celestine? What’s wrong with you? Where does it hurt?”

“Yes, Secretary…”

As I got closer, I saw Celestine trembling as she sweated like rain.

“I can’t breathe…”

I passed the torch to Vivien and touched Celestine’s cheek, which was very cold and bloody.

Is there such a thing as diarrhea claustrophobia?

“Why are you doing this all of a sudden?”

“In a sect… sentenced to death… imprisoned in a dungeon…”

Oops. The sect seems to have locked Celestine in the dungeon until they send her out to the Demon Tracker.

It seems that it has become a huge trauma and has now been activated.

“Take a deep breath, Celestine. We’re not trapped here. We’re just transported to the innermost dimension. We’ll be able to get out soon.”

“Yes… I understand…”

Taking a quick breath, Celestine nodded her head.

Then sweat dripped from the tips of her chin and eyebrows.

“Chief, let’s move quickly. I’ll lead the way, so take care of Celestine.”

“Okay. Healer, this way.”

I took the torch back and walked quickly down the hallway.

Our footsteps echoed through the walls.

It feels like something will come out from beyond the darkness in response to that sound.

“Can’t you hear something?”

Vivien, who was supporting Celestine, whispered in a low voice.

When I listened closely, I heard a strange gurgling sound from in front of me.

“Here it is. I’ll check it out.”

“Be careful.”

I stopped Celestine and Vivien and continued walking forward alone.

The darkness receded from torches and the light of Nightrend’s stars, revealing iron bars erected on either side of the wall.

Iron bars? Could it be that it became a dungeon?

As I got closer to the iron bars, I could see them trapped inside.

“What the f*ck…”

It’s a person… ? People… Am I right… ?

In the prison was something in the form of a very large man.

The reason why I expressed it as something rather than a person is no different.

Because all kinds of disfigured parts of the body, such as severed arms, twisted legs, and wobbly faces, were tangled, mixed, and kneaded, causing a terrible fear beyond common understanding.

It was a nightmare drawn at the end of mad brush strokes by an artist who prefers the aesthetics of cruelty.

A bizarre fantasy-style picture that would appear in a death festival that is only a nightmare.

Surprisingly, even such a being had an expression.

A facial expression embodying the essence of human evil, simultaneously expressing pain, despair, anger, disgust, and all other negative human emotions.

There wasn’t a single guy like that, and he was endlessly trapped inside the iron bars on both sides of the hallway, sitting down or scratching the wall, groaning in agony.

The outer demon scene unfolding in front of me was something that normal nerves couldn’t withstand, so if it wasn’t for the demon hunter’s mental protection skill, ‘Last Bastion’, I might have passed out right here.

What is the identity of that creature?

Could it be the product of an experiment using human corpses?

I activate the Hound’s Brand!

But since the stigma didn’t appear, it’s not even a demon.

How far does this barbed wire go?

As we continued walking, fortunately, the iron bars were over soon, and I saw a faint light leaking out in front of me.

“Captain Vivian.”

“Here you are.”

Captain Vivian answered from beyond the darkness.

“Come straight to the place where the torch is. Never look to the side, only look forward. Can you do it?”

“Okay. I’ll go now.”

I held my torch high at the end of the barricade and waited for Vivien and Celestine to come.

Soon two women came within range of the torches.

Celestine was pale and her black shirt was drenched in sweat.

Captain Vivien’s face stiffened as if he was on edge listening to their painful groans in the dark.

We walked quickly towards the stream of light.

As I got closer to the light, a form gradually appeared.

It was the light leaking through the crack in the rectangular door.

“Wait here.”

I stopped Vivien and Celestine and stood at the door alone.

“Don’t touch it carelessly!”

As I was about to grab the doorknob, Vivien shouted from behind.

“If there’s a trap magic on it…!”

“There is no such thing.”

“How sure are you?”

Instead of answering, I turned the doorknob and opened the door.

I couldn’t see properly for a moment as the incredibly bright light poured in.

“Oh my God… What is this place…”

Captain Vivian, who had followed me, was stunned and talked to himself.

In front of our eyes, an endless field of flowers spread out.

In the flower garden, countless flowers were blooming splendidly, as if summer had burst all at once.

As if a rainbow had been scattered across the floor, in a flower field in full bloom in various colors, equipment, love plants, sunflowers, all kinds of flowers, and even non-existent flowers gathered together to create a fantastic scenery.

In the middle of the flower garden was a lake.

The mirror-like surface of the lake reflected the sky with white clouds floating around.

Above it, silver-colored birds flew, creating gentle ripples on the lake with their flapping wings.

The majestic mountain ranges surrounding the flower gardens and lakes towered as if they were about to pierce the sky.

A thin cloud hangs at the tip of the peak, so it feels as if you could reach it if you stretched out your hand.

The transparent and bright space with no shadows or illusions was very beautiful, but at the same time it seemed unfamiliar and mysterious to the extent that it was difficult to understand.

“Where is this… where…?”

Celestine leaned on Captain Vivian’s shoulder and asked with a stupid expression.

“Wizard’s Tower.”

“This is the tower…? But it doesn’t look like the inside of the tower…”

“Because I distorted space with magic. That’s why.”

“This is magic…? Impossible…. How can such a large place….”

Celestine was preoccupied with admiring the scenery.

“Wait a minute. So where did we come from?”

Captain Vivian looked back.

But there was nothing there.

“What? Is the door missing?”

“Because it’s not aesthetically pleasing.”

Suddenly, I heard the voice of a stranger.

Captain Vivien pulled Celestine and aimed the arming sword at the voice.

A young man in a blue robe was standing in a field of flowers not far from us.

“It would be awkward if only the door stood in the middle of the flower garden. Isn’t it?”

The man tucked his hair in his ears with a soft, warm, but somewhat melancholy smile.

It was long silver hair that glistened in the sunlight.

A look that could be mistaken for a woman at first glance because of her slender lines and beautiful features.

Even his voice is neutral, so no one would think that he was a man.

“It’s been a while since a visitor came to the tower.”

The man looked around us intently with eyes that shed sad and lonely light like the deep blue sea.

“It’s not polite to have the guests stand like this. Let’s sit down and talk calmly.”

As soon as the man finished speaking, we were seated at a table.

“Huh?!”

Celestine and Vivian looked around in amazement and bewilderment.

We are by the lakeside.

The waves of the lake, swayed by the breeze, were repeating their calmly entering and leaving.

While I was looking there for a while, hot tea and simple refreshments were prepared on the table before I knew it.

In a very brief moment, just a glance.

“Are you… A wizard…?”

Faced with all these unrealistic situations, Vivian asked in a tense voice.

“No. I am a gardener.”

The man replied softly with a faint gray smile.

“I pull weeds, kill pests and tend flower gardens. It’s not a grandiose wizard thing.”

“Everyone would faint if they knew exactly what it was like to pull weeds and kill pests.”

Interrupting the conversation between Vivien and the man, she opened her mouth.

“Is there anything that has changed with the tongue that is wrapped up as if there is something there, Orleans?”

“Your way of speaking is still the same.”

The wizard Orléans looked straight at me with a smile.

“It’s been a while, Leonard. I knew we’d meet again someday, but I never thought we’d meet like this.”
