44 – Preparing for Assessment (1)

In Hearts of General, unit evaluation events are treated as essential for future promotion and ability level improvement.

It is literally handing down a specific mission to the target organization, and focusing on checking how the company, platoon, platoon, and battalion will fulfill the task.

That’s the unit evaluation, and it was practically an opportunity to get promoted and build major specs most efficiently until the World War broke out five years later.

Of course, that’s an important evaluation, and the moment you make a mistake, it’s no different than throwing away the most important opportunity of the whole year.

Right now, that means it’s scheduled for next month.

‘f*cked.’

One month can be said to be quite enough time to prepare for the evaluation in the case of a typical platoon.

But who is our platoon?

Excluding Claude, not only did they have significantly less practical experience, but they were a group of people with odd corners. First of all, since I am a platoon commander, this shape is messed up.

However, it is not possible to change platoon members in a short period of time like in the real army.

I don’t think everyone will follow suit. Claude, who was almost out of control, went up to the rank of sergeant and was demoted, so it didn’t seem like he was going to put his neck on promotion.

Anyone who thinks that promotion is irrelevant is unlikely to cooperate with the evaluation.

At least, Rumia is glad that she clearly shows her will to go higher.

Bell Meyer doesn’t seem to be very greedy in her major, and Roxanna, who has just joined, honestly has very little power.

“In the end, I have no choice but to keep training.”

As soon as he was first assigned to the unit, he was put into recapture of Belgordo Fortress, and in connection with that, he expelled the transfer forces of Cherno City with the National Gendarmerie.

Even I couldn’t easily believe the actions of a first lieutenant who had just completed the military academy.

If you think about it carefully, that was actually what I did.

Rumia and Bell fought together during the recapture of the fortress, and although Claude joined later, Bell Mayer was the only one who was actually under my command.

Although it was Rumia who conducted the investigation and grasping trends together in the city of Cherno, strictly speaking, she was unable to properly grasp the ‘combat ability’, a virtue required as a military mage.

Even though magic was used, it was purely for fire suppression.

In other words, we have never had a proper teamwork match. As I expected, it wouldn’t have happened before me.

“Haa…”

“Platoon commander, what did the personnel manager say?”

When I returned to the dorm, the women who were huddled in the lounge just like before asked me.

“It’s not decided for sure, but it is said that our platoon may go up to the capital.”

“The capital?”

“No way…… Did the report go up to the commander of the National Military Police?”

Rumia Bluet asked with an expression of disbelief.

Isn’t it natural to go up after seeing the commander? A city’s chief security officer openly acted as a transfer, and he should at least go up to the commander.

The problem is that the final decision maker is not the commander, but someone above him.

“As well as the commander of the National Gendarmerie, His Excellency Prince Orlando Luz personally called out our platoon.”

“Yes!?!”

Bell and Lumia startled, and Roxanna, who had been sleeping soundly, suddenly opened her eyes.

“Is that true?”

“What am I doing by lying about this?”

“My God, my God… …. Nonsense… ….”

Rumia went beyond being startled and even trembled. Is this something that would shock her that much?

In fact, if you think about it from a modern person’s point of view, it’s like meeting the president. He’s the greatest honor for a soldier, and even for an ordinary person, it’s going to be a pretty heart-pounding experience.

I don’t know if he’ll react that way.

Of course, it should be taken into consideration that proper democracy has not yet been established in this world. Right now, speaking of a prince, isn’t it the monarch of a principality that boasts unparalleled power?

I thought that if I was called by that person, it would be a very refreshing shock to Rumia, who has lived her entire life as a Ukrnian citizen.

“Anyway, that’s good news…… The problem is different.

“??”

“The personnel manager said that a major evaluation is scheduled for next month, and that our platoon must participate unconditionally.”

“…… ???”

A question arises in the eyes of the two who were stained with surprise.

“That’s why I need you guys to help me. How many times have I not told you? If you follow me, I will give you a chance.”

If you think positively, it was rather an opportunity. The platoon that had been treated as a waste until now, and the platoon leader.

I am establishing major majors, but in fact, there is a very high probability that it will not be very relevant to the same unit members or other people. In fact, it seems that there are quite a few senior officers and other people who don’t think this kind of atmosphere disapprovingly.

Then, what if the critical evaluation was completely overpowered so that no one could refute it?

This is a great opportunity to transform your major as well as the trashy image you’ve built up so far in one shot.

“Our goal is to get a perfect score on the critical assessment.”

I said sternly, looking at the platoon members with dumbfounded faces.

“…… Is that why you came to see me?”

“Yes, facilities manager Debra Bennett.”

She said, wearing an eye patch over her black like the color of her hair. It was the facilities manager, Lieutenant Debra Bennett.

I heard that you just returned to your unit yesterday after going out to repair the Belgordo Fortress, which was badly damaged by the last attack.

Did they enjoy their own holiday with a hammock spread on one side of the Buddha?

It really was an atmosphere befitting the position of ‘Chief of Facility Management’. There’s no obvious age difference between me and me, but I’m wondering if I’m feeling the force of a lieutenant lieutenant in the transportation department.

Since I had arrived without saying a word anyway, Debra raised her head from her hammock and looked at me.

“If it’s a simple defense magic deployment, aren’t your platoon members enough?”

“Because I’ve heard so many people around me that Chief Debra Bennett’s skill at constructing defensive magic is the best of all generations.”

“Uhm, that’s true… ….”

“Furthermore, didn’t the director of facilities management show interest in my magical skills last time?

I gently seduced Lieutenant Debra Bennett.

Her first impression was ‘a strange old woman who only talks about herself’ because of what happened in her medical unit, but I thought that she would be even more interested in my proposal because she is that kind of person.

Unexpectedly, he seems to be a person who is quite interested in this kind of thing.

Soon, Debra Bennett’s eyes rolled and rolled, and he sniffed once in his nose.

“Not bad.”

She jumped out of her hammock. My prediction turned out to be correct.

“The position of Facility Management Officer looks very busy on the surface, but in reality there is nothing to do during the day, right? You guys went ahead with the rebuilding and repairing of the old barracks, the least of which was left to be done.”

Wouldn’t it be a situation where you should be grateful if you took care of your work instead.

I heard from the head of the personnel department that he is actually a captain (Jin).

It wasn’t enough that he even got promoted, and he was a strange character called a workaholic for someone who even installed a hammock in the Buddha.

Is that why you were able to get a promotion? I do it when I do it, what kind of feeling is this?

“Still, I was curious about your true value. Shouldn’t I be able to see if the rumors I’m hearing are true?”

Debra smiles with a frown, one eye lightly closed. I couldn’t figure out what the hell the rumor was…….

Like last time, I’m starting to wonder what kind of image an officer named Enoch Levandel is spreading throughout the battalion.

Anyway, in conclusion, Debra accepted my request and followed me out into the vacant lot behind the main office.

A wasteland as wide as the headquarters site. It feels about three times larger than a typical military shooting range.

Originally, it was planned to build a magic training ground directly managed by the corps, but it seems to have been neglected for several years.

Thanks to that, the mages of the 3rd Battalion were shooting magic on a fictional day, so all that remained in the clearing was a huge crater and piles of ocher-colored dirt scattered around.

“Glory to the motherland!”

When we arrived at the clearing, the other platoon members who had been out earlier saluted Debra.

“What, everyone was with me.”

“It’s because we have nothing to do either.”

Bell said in a gruff voice. Debra’s eyebrows twitched subtly, but she simply moved on without seeming to react.

“You said you wanted to know the maximum strength of your platoon members, right?”

“Yeah, after hearing the story…… I heard that Manager Debra Bennett can deploy up to a level 2 magical barrier.”

“Where did you hear that?”

As I slightly moved my gaze towards Bell Meyer, Debra Bennett put on a complex expression in many ways.

“Umm, big… …. Okay. Huh. That’s right.”

I don’t know what kind of relationship the two had in the past, but it’s clear that the relationship isn’t just close enough to openly say they’re close.

Because Lieutenant Beldo Debra’s expressions all contained a little bit of emotion in various ways.

“Lee, let’s get right to the point. In the end, what does Platoon Leader Enoch want me to do?”

“I prepared a total of five targets.”

I pointed my finger at the wooden scarecrow piled up in the corner.

It was a magic-only bombardment target that had been neglected in a heap in the training material warehouse. All of them are in poor condition.

“I would appreciate it if you could put a level 2 magic barrier on each of those targets.”

“…… For each target?”

“Yes, per target.”

From what I’ve heard from Rumia and Bell, it is said that the company evaluation, not the battalion level, checks the overall combat capability of each platoon, rather than looking at the skills of the entire company.

At Belgordo Fort last time, Company Commander Arendt Schultz of the 2nd Company, which included my 5th platoon, did not give any particular orders.

Repelling the thieves and using flares to reveal the field of view were all based on my judgment in the end.

No matter how important it is, it could be seen as a platoon evaluation in practical terms.

Evaluating how efficiently and wisely the platoon commanders belonging to the company to be evaluated act in fulfilling the company commander’s goals.

In other words, words are efficient and wise.

Just hit the most powerful magic in accordance with the given situation and implant it.

As Debra Bennett, who had already undergone company tactics evaluation as a platoon leader several times, she seemed to have a rough idea of what I was about to do.

The facility management manager looked at the target, me, and the platoon members gathered together.

“Are you guys thinking of dropping Meteora?”

He answered with a disgusted expression.
