62 – The End (1)

It had been a few weeks since Alex began the search, starting from the unnamed island he acquired.

Today, I was on a surveillance plane, still struggling to adjust to the vibrations.

Initially, Isaac had been complaining, but now he lay on the floor, using a mat, and Sila remained as silent as ever.

Like a true dragon living for an exceptionally long time, their patience was remarkable.

Or maybe they felt like this time was nothing special.

“Are you okay? Do you want some water?”

Iyeoreum, who was sitting next to me, asked while holding a water bottle.

It was Iyeoreum’s turn this week, so we were on the same plane.

“Thank you.”

I took the water bottle Iyeoreum offered and took a sip.

My throat had been slightly dry, so it was much appreciated.

Despite flying at full throttle, the surveillance plane didn’t make a single engine sound.

Furthermore, it had been a long time since we last refueled, but there was no sign of running out of fuel.

It was all thanks to Sila’s magic.

Because of that, we only received supplies such as food, water, and clothes, and there was no need to return to the airfield to maintain the plane.

It was enough to fly in the air for several days.

“If we can’t find it even after searching this area, we’ll go over to the Atlantic Ocean,” Sila murmured in a small voice as she closed her eyes.

Is it because she can’t see the end of the endless toil?

Everything went pitch black.

But since there was no way to escape, she could only nod silently.

Even if she had hoped for an island she desired in the Pacific Ocean, she couldn’t find it in the end.

As soon as we realized that it wasn’t in the Pacific Ocean, we left Hawaii.

This time, we searched the Antarctic Sea and the nearby seas starting from New Zealand, but we couldn’t find anything there either, so we tried to fly towards the Atlantic Ocean.

“Searching a large territory at once seems too tiring. Wouldn’t it be better to start by exploring smaller seas?” Marie intervened, allowing us to at least search the small seas for now.

Starting from the Pacific Ocean and the area near Southeast Asia, we gradually moved north.

Before we knew it, the surveillance plane was flying over the Arctic Ocean.

The search period became longer and longer, and we grew more and more tired.

Whether we were searching or waiting.

Thankfully, we had some time to rest in between for attending weddings and the like.

If even that hadn’t been there, we would have been exhausted right away.

“Will we be able to find it soon?”

One day, Seo Haneul asked in a sighing voice.

It was expected since even after a long time, we couldn’t find it.

Just thinking about it made me sigh.

“I hope so. Otherwise, we’ll end up searching all the seas in the world…”

Just as I was about to complain.

Feeling extremely irritated, I closed my mouth.

Even Sila, sitting in the chair with her eyes closed, opened her eyes slightly.

“You’ve worked hard.”

As soon as he stood up, he snapped his fingers.

Suddenly, his tired body felt refreshed, and all exhaustion disappeared.

“I think I found it.”

“Um.”

Silah coughed with a heavy voice and pointed outside the window.

Sensing the vibration, just as she had feared.

As she looked out the window,

A truly enormous island came into view.

It was not the same island that had been there before; it was gradually revealing its form like shedding a veil.

As someone had expected, it was so massive that even raising magical creatures in droves seemed insufficient.

“Since you found this side, they must have found us on that side.”

When Silah flicked her finger once more, the magic circle engraved on the floor of the surveillance plane began to emit a blue light.

It seemed like the intention was to pull in everyone who had been relaxing.

“I’ll go outside and deal with it. Explain everything as they arrive.”

After leaving her last words, Silah disappeared in an instant.

Judging by the fact that her presence was felt nearby, it seemed like she had used the Blink that the mages used.

“I thought we’d never find you. It’s the first time I’ve missed magical creatures in my whole life.”

Isaac, who had been sleeping on the floor in the corner, got up and approached.

The sharp gleam in his eyes made him seem like someone who had just woken up from sleep.

“You’ve finally found it?”

Soon, some of them appeared above the glowing magic circle.

Alex, Mari, and Yeorum, who had been waiting in the nearby villa, were all armed for a long time, and tension could be seen in their expressions.

Even though they had been through all sorts of trials, the thought of attacking the magical creatures’ headquarters made them nervous.

“Yes. Look outside.”

No need for long explanations. As soon as she said that,

Everyone scattered to the windows and looked outside.

It should have been clearly visible from the left and below.

“It’s a real island. But is that it? It wasn’t the original island, was it?”

Alex turned his gaze from the window to me and asked.

It was understandable since they probably didn’t witness the process of the island being revealed.

The others had similar reactions.

“Yes. It’s the destination. It revealed its form in response to the vibration, just like the gate I discovered.”

“It’s a pity. It would have been better if I had seen it in person.”

Anyway, Alex paused for a moment, then chuckled while patting the black baton on his waist.

Externally, it seemed like an ordinary truncheon, but its value was exceptionally high.

Even more so than my weapons.

I casually informed the others about the current situation while engaging in conversation.

At the same time, we divided into two teams.

Silah was tasked with marking Calla, and our job was to ensure that the monsters didn’t interfere with him.

One team consisted of me, Seoha-neul, and Iyeoreum.

The other team was Alex, Marie, and Isaac.

I served as the leader of one team, and Alex led the other.

[Can you hear me?]

While we were dividing into teams, Silah’s voice echoed throughout the entire plane.

It felt as if she were making an in-flight announcement.

Therefore, it was easy to think that she was speaking one-sidedly from over there.

Logically, we shouldn’t be able to hear our voices from the outside.

However, since it was a dragon, there must be a way.

“What is it?”

I was about to speak after a brief moment of contemplation, but Alex beat me to it.

Judging by his reluctant expression, he seemed to have shouted first.

Fortunately, Silah responded indifferently as if she had heard his words.

[A while ago, I scanned the area and found out that the east and south are the main experimental sites.]

“So are you suggesting we split up in that direction?”

[That’s correct. Which way will you go?]

“Send us to the tougher side.”

Alex looked at me and asked, informing me of the decision.

In fact, he seemed ready to shoulder the responsibility of carrying the rifle first, as it was impossible to determine which direction was better or worse.

“Then head south. Yoo Si-hoo is going to the east.”

Silah briefly said, and suddenly, everything in front of me blurred.

It felt similar to glimpsing the scenery passing by outside a speeding car’s window.

And in the blink of an eye, we stood on the plain.

Behind us was the sea, and in the distance, tall mountains and dense thickets came into view.

Even though the beach was right in front of us, instead of sand, there was a grassy field beneath our feet.

[ Kee-ack! ]

Even the sound of horses.

No matter how you looked at it, it was hard to consider it a normal landscape.

“Be careful.”

“Same goes for you, Shifu.”

“Yeah, don’t worry.”

Two women carrying small rectangular backpacks chuckled and lifted their weapons.

In response, I also let out a small laugh and tightened my grip on the short spear in my hand.

Soon, the horses wriggling in the thickets charged forward, their eyes flashing.

.

“You hid quite well.”

The pitch-black sky of the hidden island.

Silah sighed, looking at the man standing in front of her.

He was a handsome man with impressive golden hair and sharp features.

He emitted an intensity as strong as Silah’s.

“How did you find your way here?”

Only a dragon can speak disrespectfully to a dragon.

Just that fact alone showed that the man was not an ordinary being…

The man claimed this island as his territory.

That meant he had fled from Silah after their fight.

How could that be?

Silah hesitated for a moment before giving a brief answer.

Since she wasn’t in a rush to fight, she thought it would be a good idea to have a conversation.

“It’s because of the gate you started opening for your experiments.”

“So those insignificant pests were able to find my island?”

The insignificant pests he was referring to were none other than the awakened.

Silah nodded silently, knowing what he meant.

“You insignificant creature that you thought of as weak has become the clue to choking your own throat. If I had known this would happen, should I have exterminated all humans?”

“If I had done that, you would have been the first to find me. Stop with your pointless provocation.”

While growling, Kalla gave a surprisingly logical response.

There was no answer that could be given because of the unexpected situation.

If they had done that, they might have been wiped out before they could have grown on this scale.

However, there was also a sense of regret.

If they had actually done that, they might not have had this kind of situation.

“To think that even the insignificant ones would be brought here to try to tie me down. It seems you also have nowhere else to go.”

When Kalla put away his regret and laughed, Silla twisted her mouth.

“Didn’t you plan to use the pets you raised yourself? After living in a corner by yourself, you seem to have become quite talkative.”

“…You damn mounted head!”

Snap! Kalla gritted his teeth and glared at Silla.

While the other dragons were all spectators, only he had come forward alone to this point.

His stubbornness was very annoying.

Then, he calmed his anger and extended his hand forward.

“Yes. This time, I’ll cut off your breath and make sure you never chase after me again.”

“Thank you for saying what I wanted to. I’m really grateful.”

Silla also extended her hand forward and smiled back.

Soon, there was a loud sound like a missile exploding between the two men.
