60 – Searching Together (5)

“Is it really a dragon? It’s not a monster or a transformation ability?”

“Even after seeing it, it’s hard to believe, isn’t it?”

“To be honest, it is a bit. But… I can’t not believe it either.”

Alex swallowed his dry saliva as he looked at Sila standing in front of him.

As soon as he arrived in Korea, he found the hotel where Sila was staying.

He then pressured her to show evidence of being a dragon.

And this is the result of that.

“I never expected the day would come when I have to prove myself to humans. I’ll see how long I can live to witness this.”

Sila laughed emptily, like an old man who had lived to see the world.

Sitting on the luxurious sofa seat in the suite, she gazed at Alex with a lazy look in her eyes.

“I hear you manipulate gravity? It’s very suitable for tying up demons’ feet.”

“Oh, sir. Alex’s abilities are strong enough to crush even large demons in an instant. It’s on a completely different level than tying ankles.”

As I corrected my thinking error, Sila’s eyes showed a bit of strength.

Not overly excited, but slightly surprised.

“Oh… is that so? That level of power will be a great help.”

“I’ll listen to everything this old bastard-like kid says.”

As Alex grumbled and plopped down on the sofa, Sila chuckled.

Even though it’s a situation where anyone would be tense, Sila’s expression was filled with nothing but relaxation.

As if he were looking at a mischievous grandchild.

“Seeing your overflowing confidence, I don’t think you’ll run away.”

“Run away? Are you saying I would run away now?”

Alex asked incredulously with a mix of irritation in his voice.

His ability to effortlessly spew out unfamiliar words was quite absurd.

“The crack you experienced… was it called the gate? Anyway, that damn nest is much more dangerous than that gate. Since it also serves as an experimental facility, there must be creatures we’ve never seen before. Then, couldn’t we just run away?”

“That sounds interesting.”

As Alex gave a hostile smile, Silla let out a short sigh and closed her eyes.

“We’ll find out what basis your arrogance is built upon… by checking on the situation on-site.”

“Sure. But how can we investigate without even knowing the enemy’s hideout? We need to find that first.”

“…You’re right. Do you have a plan?”

“A plan?”

Instead of answering, Alex threw the question back at me and turned his gaze towards me.

It seemed like he was pressuring me to come up with a plan.

“Will you help me?”

“Well, I’ve received the sign, so of course I will help you.”

The sign he was referring to meant signing the guild registration form.

In exchange for receiving help this time, I had officially agreed to join Helix, but for now, we had agreed to stay in Korea.

I would fly out without hesitation if there was a need for my power.

There were various conditions to fulfill, including miscellaneous tasks, but the rewards were fairly cheap.

“Well then… let’s start by finding the base.”

“… Is that really true?”

A few days had passed since Yoo Si-hoo began his preliminary work.

Seo Ha-neul was feeling confused after receiving a phone call.

Even Lee Yeoreum, who was sitting beside them and heard the whole story, remained expressionless.

“What? Dragons are the culprits behind the gate, and they’re joining forces with another dragon to find the culprit? That dirty creature too?”

“No matter how you look at it, it sounds ridiculously fantastical, even if it’s Si-hoo’s story. It lacks realism.”

When Seo Ha-neul asked in disbelief, Lee Yeoreum also asked in disbelief.

“What if we can’t believe it?”

“What do you mean? Are you implying that Si-hoo is lying or that a psychic manipulator is interfering with his mind…?”

“Isn’t Lady Samo also present? And Si-hoo is so flustered about giving an opening to such a manipulator? Is his resistance just for show?”

This summer, while speaking in a monotonous yet piercing tone, Seo Haneul’s mouth closed.

Everything she said was right.

“And even if it’s not true, so what? We are slaves of Si-hoo. Slaves should just follow as their master commands.”

Perhaps it was because she had long engraved the need to follow blindly, like a slave, in her mind.

In Iyeoreum’s mind, the statement that she and herself were Si-hoo’s and Mari’s slaves had become common sense.

Perhaps it was her preference for simplicity in life planning that made her appear so ignorant.

However, Seo Haneul felt a deep connection to the idea of actually becoming a slave.

“…That’s right. We just have to do as we’re told.”

“Yeah. If they want money, we give them our bank accounts; if they want us, we offer ourselves. That’s it.”

Anyway, Iyeoreum paused for a moment and changed the subject.

“They said we’re leaving in two days, so I should start packing. Do you have your passport?”

“I have my passport for work. Do you want to start packing now?”

There’s still some time. Seo Haneul asked, tilting her head.

She understood the loyalty, but it felt like there was no need for excessive flattery.

“Pack in advance. Plans can change suddenly. There’s also stuff to prepare.”

Weapon maintenance is something I’ve always done, so that’s not a problem. It’s the consumables that are the issue.

When Iyeoreum got up from her seat after saying those words, Seo Haneul also stood up immediately.

Iyeoreum was moving hastily, and she couldn’t afford to sit and wait leisurely.

“Then I’ll see you later. We might meet at the airport.”

“Sure. Take care.”

Iyeoreum left Seo Haneul’s house immediately, and Seo Haneul went upstairs without delay.

After sorting out her personal belongings, she planned to go shopping for the things she needed.

Mari and I headed straight to the airport.

Since we were going to leave the car for an extended period, we left it in the maintenance center.

We couldn’t afford to abandon the car and let it get damaged due to another unexpected accident.

“Have you arrived?”

As we arrived at a lounge in the airport, Isaac, who had been waiting in advance, greeted us warmly.

Beside him was Sila, who was chewing on a cup ramen with an expressionless face.

“Would you like to eat cup ramen just as it is?”

It was strange to see someone chewing on uncooked cup ramen.

So I asked,

“My ancestor actually enjoys eating it raw. Sometimes he just eats the freshly made noodles without boiling them.”

“Oh… I see.”

I could understand eating ramen like that.

But the idea of eating freshly made dough without boiling it made me feel dizzy.

I couldn’t think of what to say in my confusion.

Even Mari, who was beside me, could only awkwardly smile and couldn’t continue the conversation.

“It seems like everyone is here.”

Following that, Alex entered with a smile, and Seo Haneul and Yiyeoreum were also there.

It seemed like they coincidentally ran into each other at the airport.

Although they knew each other, they didn’t have enough familiarity to set up a separate meeting.

“Is everyone here?”

Mari asked, scanning the surroundings, and Isaac nodded.

“Yes. Everyone who received the message has come.”

Alex.

Me and Mari.

Seo Haneul and Yiyeoreum.

And even Heksenhive.

It seemed like everyone had arrived.

“Now that everyone seems to be here, let’s start moving.”

Alex dragged his suitcase as if he were annoyed, and the others followed behind him.

Before they knew it, they had arrived at the gate.

Although it wasn’t time to depart yet, the staff blocked their way, but

“Get lost. f*ck off.”

As soon as those words were thrown, the staff members hurriedly made contact and opened a path as if they were serving a senior officer.

Among the people who witnessed this scene, there were those who wanted to argue, but

“Please… just let us go.”

When I pleaded with him, citing the emperor’s temperament as the reason, he looked at me with a sad gaze and stepped back. I turned my head to observe him from a distance and then looked forward again.

Alex’s calm and indifferent personality was refreshing and comforting at times like this.

Thanks to him, I was able to smoothly arrive at the first-class cabin I had reserved at Heksenhive after going through the necessary procedures.

I apologize to the staff, but honestly, I was glad to be comfortable.

“Have a seat. I booked the entire first-class.”

Originally, I had planned to book the whole plane.

As Alex grumbled as if he was dissatisfied, we all started to find our seats separately.

“It’s impressive, but…I’m a bit dissatisfied.”

Mari murmured as she saw the seats separated from each other.

She even said it would be nice if we could sit close together even in first class.

Unfortunately, this plane didn’t have such seats.

“We have more space to be comfortable since we’re sitting apart. Can’t be helped.”

“Yeah…true. I should be grateful just for using such a luxurious carriage.”

Mari seemed to change her mind and took a seat right behind me.

Perhaps it was because it was the closest distance, her dissatisfaction seemed to lessen.

Ah. As I sat down, my body naturally relaxed.

Business class was also decent, but it couldn’t compare to first class.

But they say it’s disappearing as a trend…

I brushed away unnecessary thoughts and closed my eyes, leaning against the backrest.
