45 – Different Worlds (2)

They were in contact with Earth.

This had already been discussed with the Dacians.

So, all they had to do was open the gateway, but finding a qualified person was not easy.

The other side’s representatives were Mr. Alberto and Princess Dacia.

Once the gate appeared in the demilitarized zone, they needed to bring out the Korean representative.

In other words, they had to secretly bring out the President.

A President who was under the protection of many bodyguards would have to see the gate at least once to believe that there was another world.

It was a tricky situation.

They returned from the other world and sat in the living room, pondering their options.

“What should we do?” Mary asked.

“Well…” Hye-jin said, contemplating the question.

For a moment, a whimsical idea crossed her mind – should they kidnap the President?

“Let’s start by having a drink of water and thinking it over. I’m thirsty,” Alberto suggested.

“Get me a glass too.”

“Sure.”

I once severed the thread of my thoughts and headed to the kitchen refrigerator.

With a swift motion, I opened the refrigerator door and poured cold water from the cylindrical container into a cup.

Naturally, I divided it into two cups.

“Here, have a drink.”

“Thank you.”

Marie accepted the cup of cold water, bringing it to her lips with an almost fearful motion.

They say cold water isn’t good for the body, but its freshness was irresistible.

Especially in times like this when one feels stuffy inside.

“Ugh…! I really wish I could somehow recreate a refrigerator. I could work on it at the Tower, but the cost is just too high…”

Marie looked wistfully at the refrigerator with regret in her eyes.

It was as if she had encountered a long-lost lover, lamenting the exorbitant cost of magicians’ labor.

“Oh… let’s save the refrigerator issue for later. We’ll figure it out eventually.”

“Do you think so?”

Marie expressed her hope that it would be so and let out a deep sigh.

Things like refrigerators and gas ranges were expensive when they were rare, but once they were mass-produced, their prices would undoubtedly drop.

Supply and demand naturally caused prices to decrease when there was plenty of supply.

“Oh… right.”

But strangely enough, this absurd conversation gave rise to a good idea.

There’s a saying that when you can’t think of anything, you should clear your mind for a moment.

It seemed to be just that.

“Why? Did you come up with a good idea or something?”

Marie’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, and I nodded slowly in response.

“Well… maybe.”

“What is it?”

“That’s… “

I verbalized the emerging thought, got up from my seat immediately, and decided to go to the Association right away.

“To request an audience with the Association’s Chairman…?”

Headquarters of the Hunter Association.

The employee working at the reception on the first floor broke out into a cold sweat upon seeing the guest who had visited spontaneously.

The guest was Yu Si-hoo, who had been the subject of various rumors, and he had requested to see the association chairman.

“Yes, please do take a seat.”

Take a seat. He demanded to meet an A-class Hunter. It was practically a threat.

The employee trembled with fear, partly because of this.

Although it was rare for a commotion to occur at the headquarters of the association, it was not unheard of.

Moreover, if it was an A-class Hunter who could be considered the ultimate power, then even more so.

Fortunately, it was a relief that Yu Si-hoo had a relatively gentle personality.

Otherwise, he might have been overwhelmed and passed out immediately.

“Just a moment… please wait. I will contact the secretary’s office immediately.”

Just like the CEO or president of a major company.

Or, like the president, the chairman of the Hunter Association also had a team of secretaries.

So, it was a priority to ask the secretaries first and confirm the schedule.

Although it was said that the chairman mostly stayed in his office, there were times when he would be absent for several days.

“Yes, this is the secretary’s office.”

“This is Choi Si-hyeon from the reception on the first floor. A-class Hunter Yu Si-hoo wants to meet the chairman.”

“It’s an A-class Hunter… Please wait a moment.”

The secretary who answered the phone was wondering what the commotion was all about.

That an A-class Hunter would request a meeting with the chairman so abruptly.

And it was a Hunter who had played a significant role in a joint operation.

“I am currently checking in the secretary’s office. Please wait a moment…”

“It’s fine. Take your time and let me know.”

I wondered if Yu Si-hoo would be annoyed, so I tried to be careful.

Fortunately, it seemed that there was no need for that.

Choi Si-hyeon was grateful for Yu Si-hoo’s relaxed attitude and tried to calm her pounding heart.

Then, finally, a call came from the secretary’s office.

“This is the secretary’s office. Can you talk now?”

“Yes, please go ahead.”

“The chairman will see you. I will guide you immediately. In person.”

“Yes, I understand.”

Phew! As soon as Joo Si-hyun hung up the call, she let out a sigh.

There was no need to worry about unnecessary sparks flying.

“I will guide you. Please follow me.”

Just as she was instructed in the secretary’s office, Joo Si-hyun personally guided Yu Si-hu.

There might be a vacant desk for a moment, but there was no other choice.

Guiding an A-rank hunter was much more important.

“Yes, thank you.”

Yu Si-hu didn’t mention that he didn’t need this level of attention.

He simply followed behind Joo Si-hyun quietly.

They rode the elevator and reached a high floor.

He was already a person who was tense and observant, so what would happen if they engaged in conversation?

He thought it might create a more awkward situation than the silence.

Ding. The elevator doors opened with a cheerful sound.

Instead of getting off the elevator, Joo Si-hyun pressed the button to open the doors and said,

“Just go straight this way.”

“Thank you.”

After leaving a brief word of thanks, Yu Si-hu stepped out of the elevator.

A quick glance around revealed that there was no need for guidance; the layout was straightforward.

The door standing proudly at the end of the hallway confirmed that.

The wooden counter near the door, and the people sitting at the counter, were also quite evident.

“Welcome.”

Before reaching the massive door, a woman guarding the counter greeted them politely.

She had a very neat appearance, befitting someone guarding the counter.

Behind the wooden counter, there was one door.

It was the door that commonly led to the secretary’s office, as people often talked about.

Yu Si-hu politely nodded and made eye contact with the woman, asking,

“Is it okay to go in now?”

“Yes, you can go right in.”

“Thank you.”

He casually tilted his head and immediately opened the massive door, passing by the counter.

The size of the door was rather large, reflecting the belief that the person who founded the Hunter Association needed to have authority and a sense of intimidation.

It was around three meters, roughly.

“Please come in.”

As Yoo Si-hoo lightly opened the heavy door and entered, a man who had been waiting on the stone seat slowly stood up and greeted him.

He was an elderly man with a strong build and a head of white hair that looked agile.

“It’s been a while since we’ve met.”

Yoo Si-hoo bowed his head as he looked at the elder, Sang Baek-young.

Since they had already met before, the greeting of “It’s been a while” naturally came out.

“I see. Was it the first time since the joint operation?”

“Yes.”

Sang Baek-young had also witnessed the joint operation between Nokyang and Hélix and had lent a hand.

After the hunters in Korea and the United States reclaimed their territories, they couldn’t just sit back and do nothing.

There were several reasons why Sang Baek-young had to step forward, but in any case, the results were quite favorable.

His support also increased significantly, and there were many people who followed him wholeheartedly.

“First, have a seat.”

“Thank you.”

Yoo Si-hoo sat in the seat Sang Baek-young recommended and took a deep breath to calm himself.

The sofa seat with cushioned buttocks was too soft, and he was afraid he might become too relaxed.

Sang Baek-young asked, “Would you like a drink at least?”

“Yes, I will gladly have one.”

“Good.”

Sang Baek-young picked up the phone placed on the table in front of him.

It was a direct line to the counter.

“Ah, it’s me. Bring two cups of omija here.”

[Understood.]

He hung up the phone abruptly after conveying the message, laughing as he looked at Yoo Si-hoo.

How have you been doing so far? Wasn’t it tough in prison?

I’m sorry for being busy. I was foolish, etc.

The extravagant feast of thick lip service tickled Yoo Sihu’s ears.

For Yoo Sihu, it was just bitter.

If he had truly thought that way, he would have contacted them personally.

Yet, not a single message came from the chairman.

If he had crossed over to Helix with any grievances, it would have been a significant loss.

However, he didn’t hold any grudge against the chairman, even if all his words were insincere.

From the start, he was an outsider, and he was the one who had to make national judgments as he claimed.

In other words, there wasn’t enough emotional connection to harbor disappointment.

He just thought of him as a higher-up.

“Right… Why did you ask to see me? It seems like quite an important matter given the circumstances,” Sang Baekyoung asked, draining about half of the omija in his teacup.

Although he didn’t like omija, he was always puzzled by its overwhelming sweetness and bitterness.

Yoo Sihu took a deep breath and spoke, looking directly at the chairman.

“Please arrange a meeting with the President.”

“Hmm? With the VIP…?”

Sang Baekyoung raised an eyebrow, his position in South Korea allowing him to easily secure a meeting with the President.

And Yoo Sihu had easy access to Sang Baekyoung.

“Yes. I’m sincerely asking.”

“Is there a good reason for it?”

“Of course.”

Since he needed Sang Baekyoung to secure a meeting with the President, Yoo Sihu didn’t hide his intentions and explained everything.

Sang Baekyoung’s expression as he listened was filled with seriousness.
