Sacred Chevalier

Episode 41: The Fairchild Family Talented Woman

On September 9, 487 (Empire 202), the Battle of the Kabachi Plains, which lasted more than a month, ended with the victory of the Turkish Empire. The Kingdom of Holy Fersis had approximately 16,000 dead, 7,000 seriously wounded and 27,000 residual troops, compared to a total of 50,000 troops mobilized. This was the greatest loss in the history of the kingdom as a single meeting.

The sacrifice of one empire was also considerable. It is 11,000 dead, 4,000 seriously wounded and 20,000 remaining, compared to a total of 35,000 troops mobilized. The Empire in particular, in May of this year, had suffered a painful defeat by the second prince, Noas, and the loss of troops was remarkable if considered as a whole of the country.

"Have you given more than 30% of the dead..."

Austro Tormakia meditated. I didn't expect it to be easy to beat, but even the word "hard win" was raw and warm if you think about sacrifice. It was enough to improve the cannon and shake the plan to attack Fortress Varihardt next summer.

"Maybe we should drop them off next year..."

"Your Highness, General Schweik is back."

Speaking to his tabernacle Partina, Austro changed his expression. It is a triumph at all costs. I couldn't possibly have the General's own depressed look on his face.

"Schweik, you did a great job. Without the service of Sir, our army could have disintegrated."

"Thank you. This will also be the patronage of the goddess Wellos. It looked like it was raining upstream of the Arce, and the river was getting more water. Thanks to this we were able to land closer."

We nod at each other and send our sights to the soldiers. Everyone looked exhausted. Some soldiers are falling on their backs on the ground. If normal, they should be reprimanded, but the captains of each unit seemed to be resting too.

"That was a hard fight..."

"Oh... I'm sorry, but could you let Sir's 3,000 be your defense team? The army is exhausted. I'd give you a break if I could."

"We're already on watch in units of a hundred platoons. Just in case, we also sent out a scourge for the Great Fortress of Varihardt. Rest, Your Highness."

Austro nodded and headed to his curtain building. He was attacked by a sleeper so fierce that he wanted to fall in, but managed to stay dignified, he was able to enter the curtain hall. That's all Austro remembers.

It was on September 12th that the Royal Army, led by Bergard Faranx, entered the Valihardt Fortress at the southern end of the Kabachi Plains, leaving more than 30% dead and only half capable of fighting, except for the seriously wounded. It was a critical number of people able to defend the fortress. They spent all their troops trying to stop the Empire's southward march to the Beech Plains, and they failed to do so. It was truly a "tragic defeat".

"The responsibility for this defeat rests entirely with me. I have already sent a messenger to the King's Capital. Soon you will receive a recall from His Majesty the King. When I think of the dead soldiers, my blame is not done with condemnation or anything else. By the end of the year, we will be breaking up with this fortress."

Returning to the fortress, Faranx presented the prospects for the future to the Tabernacles. Everyone had pity in their eyes. Some of them are shaking their shoulders without being overwhelmed.

"General! You should appeal directly to the King's capital's army, no, Your Majesty. Besides the General, who can protect this place!

"So is this battle. It's General Faranx that's why we could have fought this far! The reinforcements... as long as the reinforcements were there, they were winning!

Some shouted outrageously. Belgarard Faranx has gained his track record as a samurai and holds his current position. Compared to its fame and track record, its territory was narrow and treatment could never be said to be adequately rewarded. That is one of the causes of Faranx's own reluctance to have a back shield, such as a grand aristocrat. Within the kingdom, Phalanx was "lonely". While we were winning, that was good, but once it scratched, the guy trying to drag it down began to scratch. That was what "aristocratic society" was all about.

"Even without me, it's okay for the moment. The Empire has also lost quite a few soldiers in this battle. To get that back, you'll make a big deal out of it for a while. You don't have to be without me. Keep doing your part to protect the land."

It's all my fault, and I won't let my men take it. It was the possession of Faranx. Not only the Tabernacles, but all those raised by the Phalanx, were weeping.

Then, for a while, the news of "Phalanx's defeat" reached Istalone, the king's capital. Military Minister Zumana Rugendle, who keeps the kingdom's army, distorted her fat pox face and shook her fat belly and laughed.

"Right. Has Faranx lost? And it's a tragic defeat..."

Lujandor paid people and turned into a thinking look. Some remorse was floating there. Because there was an expectation that Faranx would.

Usually he deserves that look, plays a greedy, dwarf man, but that's only one side of the Rugendle. He, the second son of the Baron family and a born ugly man, was able to ascend to the heavy towns of the kingdom because he played dwarf but had used his number of manipulations to set up a grip at the main points. While tolerating corruption within the military, it has on the other hand entrusted the North to the Phalanx to protect the kingdom from external enemies. "Cloudy and swallowing" was the rugiandre.

"It's easy to make Faranx take responsibility, but the problem is how to make him take it. Death is just awkward. The Duke of Javar family will remain silent if it is done with reproach or something. He's working with the Luftvan Chamber of Commerce for Northern rights..."

Sip tea with honey on tap. The power structures within the kingdom are complex. I have a superficial good relationship with Chancellor Rubin Verstein, but compared to Verstein, who is a conservative, I have the self-belief that I am a reformist. In fact, in the twelve years since I became Minister of Military Affairs, corruption has been decreasing, albeit slightly.

The kingdom has a long history compared to the empire. For that matter, various vested interests accumulate like starches. If we proceed with radical reforms to say no to pleasure knife indiscriminate hemp, we will be unhappy until those who are irrelevant in the aftermath of it. We just have to move on one by one.

"I dare not ask His Majesty..."

Le Chandle, standing from the chair, was short legged as low as he was funny. Because of his appearance that he could not even ride a horse, he was taken lightly by others and was not alert. Walking with Totetote, Rushandle headed to the royal palace.

The Northern Tribute naturally also entered the Royal Knights College. It should have known through the military, but it was in the name of having a daughter that Faranx had sent out a letter. Lilia, the Dean of the College, showed me the letter, and Elsa cried. Because of the reassurance that he was safe and the anxiety that his father was being put in a predicament.

"Kite. How would you rate that?

"General Faranx's letter was pale and factual, and the Bureau of War was easy to imagine. But there's something not written in this letter."

"What's that?

"How could I win,. The cause of this defeat is not in the General. It's in Wang Du's army."

"I didn't send out reinforcements..."

"That's right. If I were the Minister of Military Affairs, I would have immediately deployed the maximum amount of troops I could mobilize. I'll give you at least 20,000 or 30,000. With that, we would have been able to prevail by the siege. No, we don't even have to fight. If it was Austro Tormakia, it would have withdrawn immediately. You shouldn't have had this much blood. What the hell was the Minister of Military Affairs doing?

Kate's eyes were lit with flames of anger. No matter how good the scene is, the hub is rotten and unable to work. Belgarard Faranx lost one eye but tried to protect him to the end. In the meantime, what were the Kingsville military forces doing? Weren't you just drinking and bickering at a court dinner party?

"Kate's opinion is correct. But you can be wrong."

But Lilia, the dean of the faculty, shook her head. Kate narrowed her eyes, keeping her eyebrows rugged. If they weren't their own masters, they would have stuffed.

"You're smart. If your head spins, you can't beat my husband Paul Shrimp either. That's why I want you to understand. This country is complicated. The nobles have territories in each of them and are responsible for the running of the kingdom. Even in the military, ministers can't decide everything. There is a staff headquarters, where it is considered and discussed and raised to the Royal Palace as the intention of the military. And each nobleman's breath hangs in the staff headquarters..."

"So you mean a bunch of scumbags. I would kill them all."

Lilia sighed. The biggest difference between a husband called "laziness" and an apprentice in front of him was in this "intensity". Kite tends to come to an awkward conclusion and make up her mind as soon as she loses her head.

"Sure, you'll see it corrupt. But it is also true that it is a kind of adjustment function. For example, in naval shipbuilding, there are three unions. I adjust the price and turn the job around with it. Even though there is a notion that you should use taxes to make them cheaper, collusion avoids competition and profit-sharing makes everyone happy. It would look corrupt from the standpoint of the people who collect taxes, but in the whole country, it's never a bad thing."

"And what does that have to do with not sending reinforcements to the general?

"Kite. I know what it's like to be angry, but you can't hit that on Dr. Lilia."

That's what Elfina told me, and Kate apologized for posturing correctly. But I'm not convinced. Each will have its own claim. Kate's claim is simple. Whoever made his own woman cry is "evil". And the cause of this is in the military headquarters. That was enough.

"Sooner or later, you'll see it. Don't think that your range of sight, your range of comprehension, is everything. I hope that's all you're convinced of now."

As a matter of reason, I guess so. That's what Kate accepted and agreed to.

"Well... did Faranx lose"

Augusto Javar, the head of the kingdom's greatest aristocrat, the Duke of Javar, put up a glass of wine when he heard its report. As long as Bergard Faranx was north, the Javar family had no flavor whatsoever. The Luftvan Chamber of Commerce, the Kingdom's largest chamber of commerce, stands behind itself and helps the Javar family thrive. In the north, however, the Ealis Chamber of Commerce, close to the Duke of Fairchild, and more recently the emerging Gulp Chamber of Commerce, have also entered, each competing. The purchase price of arms and cereals was also tight, with marginal profits compared to their volume of trade.

"Father. Now finally, the North will fall into our hands, too. You just have to hang it on the guillotine, like that abominable Faranx."

Damian Javar, a man of honor, laughed happily. Augusto sipped a glass of wine and beckoned his son.

"Don't speak lightly of such things. A certain kingdom lost with the barbarians of the north. If you think of His Majesty's collar, you should be ashamed of yourselves."

"Yes... Father is right"

"Besides, we're not the only ones after the Phalanx cauldron. I wonder how the Fairchild family will get out. And that must be where the pig works. Candidates must be named and recommended as soon as possible."

"Is it the Minister of Military Affairs, Lujandor? Why would such a man keep the army if he should be in a pig farm..."

Augusto said nothing and stood up and looked out the window. The Javar family is a prestigious family that has been around since the opening of the kingdom. Generations of principals became corrupt in the creation of valves and built a solid position within the kingdom. But the same is true of the Duke of Fairchild. With Northern power, you will sever the Fairchild family greatly and become the kingdom's greatest nobleman in fame. I couldn't miss this good opportunity.

(The Fairchild family is strong in the sea and vulnerable to land. It's in our favor in that respect. Besides, my lord Elquille is low back and not decisive. If this one comes out strong, it can also butt in. But the question is, who can we put in the cauldron...)

"Why don't you go? Damian?"

"What?"

The man of prestigious nobility had turned his fallen in love expression to his father.

"I didn't know General Faranx had lost...... so how are things with the Navy?

"Yes. So far, the ocean has remained on the lookout. The harbour of Rhoda remains calm."

Fairchild Duke of Fairchild owner Elquille Fairchild nodded. The Fairchilds keep the "sea" of the kingdom. With numerous ship carpenters, the Navy also has many breathtaking generals. This case is about "Lu". Elquille was lost as to whether the Fairchild family should move.

"Sir...... the lady is back"

"What? Flora? What happened to the Knights College?

"Not quite. Father..."

Without waiting to be guided by the butler, my daughter came in. Flora Fairchild, the eldest daughter of the Fairchild family, was a beautiful girl with golden brown shortcut hair and tinted eyes, but dressed as a moveable man, who also looked like a boy.

"Flora. What the hell is wrong with you when you say your second grade has just begun?

Flora was a sophomore in the administrator's program at the Royal Knights College. Given her age, it is not suspicious if she is a bridesmaid of honor and a bridesmaid. But such common sense does not apply to this active daughter.

"Father, we should get in touch with the Lujandor Minister of Military Affairs as soon as possible. As a Fairchild, we should push for General Faranx's successor."

Elquille sighed. An active and resourceful daughter talks about politics like a man. Besides, to my bad taste, the prospects and opinions were accurate, and I had no place to lose them. I can't count what I wished my daughter were a man.

"Flora, that's up to me, the Lord, to decide. It's not about you pinching your mouth."

"I'm sorry, father. But if the Fairchilds don't move, the successor will have a general to be recommended by the Duke of Javar. Sooner or later, the kingdom will be in danger."

"What are you talking about? Why don't you tell me about your prospects?

The father had no choice but to encourage his daughter to give her opinion. It's complicated as the main one, but I've judged it by my daughter's opinions many times. This time, I tried to refer to it.

When Flora sat in the reception chair, she began to talk about her prospects.

"In conclusion, the successor to General Belgarard Faranx must be General Belgarard Faranx himself. Is there a general in this kingdom who deserves more than that northern guard?

"I know that. But there is such a thing as kejime. This loss is too much sacrifice to be done with condemnation. At the very least, a change is inevitable. The general himself would think so."

"That's true. General Faranx will resign even if our house moves to reprimand us. That one is a noble military man. If you take responsibility, you will not forgive yourself. Then you just have to create a rationale and a path to take responsibility."

"Specifically?

"The Faranx family territory is southwest of the Great Fortress of Varihardt. Taking over this territory, the Faranx family will be destroyed, and General Faranx himself will be an honorary nobleman."

"That's... that's a pretty tough disposition"

"There is a continuation. The territory received must naturally be ruled by someone. That's what my Fairchild family does. Naturally, the Faranx family and deputies hire them as they are. The mansion will remain intact and will be used by the General."

"So you're saying it's just a shape-shaped crush, huh?

"General Faranx is a famous general. You will continue to be handled in battle. You just have to recover from the loss and return the territory again."

"But with what logic is the Fairchild family leaving? What's its name?

"It's logistics. It's just like an empty house, such as Fortress Varihardt without General Farranks. No matter how robust the fortress may be, it will fall easily without anyone to protect it. If Fortress Valihardt fails, the north of the kingdom will be in danger. Roda's military port will be isolated and attacked from the sea as well. Then the kingdom..."

Elquille raised her hand and blocked her daughter's story. How can this girl be so slutty and head turning?

"You're more weak as a matter of reason than you're talking about. Is that why you need the help of the Minister of Military Affairs..."

"I don't undervalue Minister Rujandor as much as the others. This time, and in the context of not sending out reinforcements, is there also an aspect of avoiding confrontation with the Duke of Javar family, but there were more expectations of General Faranx than that?

"What do you mean?

"If General Faranx had won without relying on reinforcements, the General's voice would have increased even further. That would encourage purification within the military and lead to the kingdom's strongmen. Minister Lujandor is a cloudy and swallowing man, but I see that he is never corrupt."

"Got it. You're right, let's discuss this with the Minister of Military Affairs. By the way, how's class starting in second grade?

"As always, it's a boring class. But one, I found an interesting person. Even though I'm a hero (Chevalier) candidate, I'm taking the administrator's class for some reason. Rumor has it, I was biting one for this battle in the north..."

Flora Fairchild, the second-year candidate executive president, said so and sipped the tea the butler had brought.

On September 25, 487, the Kingdom's history, the disposition to Bergard Faranx was decided. To devalue the status of nobility to a generation of honorable nobles. That territory shall be taken over and ruled by the Fairchild family. It is decided that the status of the General shall remain intact and that the guardianship of the Great Fortress of Varihardt shall continue. On the surface, it is never a light disposition. Still, pressure was put on the military from the Duke of Javar's house, but the Minister of Military Affairs' rugiandre switched this way as he rocked his funny body shape.

"I see. Surely your man, Damian, is excellent in both political warfare abbreviations. However, there is no step for General Faranx in terms of merit. If you can recommend it, we ask that you have a military history comparable to that of Belgarard Faranx."

You can't be in the kingdom, such as a general. Beyond the harsh disposition of territorial takeover, from there on, we are talking about personnel within the military. And if you consider purely HR, there was only one person who deserved Northern Township.

"Nfu... it's a troubled thing. That little piggy looks like she wants me to work. I was thinking about spending the rest of my life in a villa on Lake Pruge..."

Looking down at the platform of the soldier chess exercise, Faranx stroked his jawbeard. Use the stick to move the pawn.

"Just kidding... it doesn't look good on a general, such as dying of old on a sleeping table. Now, on the inside, how do you beat a cannon?

That said, Kite moved the "cannon" pawn. Faranx keeps his mouth shut and moves the cavalry pawn.

"The Great Fortress of Valihardt is difficult to defeat because of the presence of a general. To be honest, I don't think we can win with just cannons."

Faranx and Kite were practicing the Valihardt Grand Fortress defense. Faranx is on the kingdom side and Kite is on the empire side. Behind the Phalanx, my daughter Elsa happily supports her father. Kate smiled bitterly, but said nothing.

"You can't avoid shelling the fortress. But it would be possible not to let them shoot the second or third shot. For example…"

The pawn of the Holy Knight approaches the artillery. If you are challenged to a melee, there is nothing artillery can do. Kite was inevitable and had to let out the Saint Knight. But the numbers are too different.

"The number of saint knights is overwhelming here. Besides, there are also odd people (Chevaliers) with all four holy knights on their own. I can't even imagine what would happen if the Holy Knight used the power of the Episode."

Clams and artillery were driven out. Kate flaunted her shoulders and admitted her loss.
