[BONUS]

Black Lion's boat hadn't even reached the fifty meters mark when the Kraken was almost defeated by the newly arrived beast.

The flying creature was so powerful that [Monocles] didn't read its ATP, so everyone assumed that its ATP was too high to be measured. The Kraken was like a child compared to it, and from their point of view, it seemed like the flying creature was toying with the Kraken.

What's more, the Empire's battalion wasn't attacking the flying beast one bit. Some players even thought that the flying beast belonged to the Empire or that it was a pet of the Emperor himself. That would explain why [Monocles] didn't work on it.

"Hurry!" Scar's shouts were urgent and angry, adding pressure on Black Lion. Their balloons were lagging because of the storm, and the only thing they had left that could move against the torrential forces was their boat, but it was painfully slow.

The other guilds weren't idling by. At the sight of the Black Lion's banner storming the sea, they also took their chance and set sail. While most turned tail, feeling content to watch from the safe shores, away from the fighting.

The players had never experienced this kind of terrain before. Most only watched this kind of scenario in movies, and personally witnessing this situation was another thing. They stopped rowing entirely as fear gripped their limbs at the sight of almost a hundred-meter-tall wave. There were even others who had given up and succumbed to the inevitable death.

The waves were brutal, destroying boats and swallowing everyone who dared to contest its might. When only half of the boats remained, the others turned tail, but the force from the fight still reached them, blowing them into the sea.

Amongst the top guilds that had given up and turned back were White Unicorn, Golden Phoenix, Sleeping Dragon, and Ferocious Ravens. They knew that this endeavour would lead to no good, so they decisively cut their losses.

There were also other players who wanted to go back, but they were paralyzed by fear — and if not, they were stuck between the waves and giant ripples from the Kraken's fight with the armies and the flying creature. Eventually, they met their end in the middle of the sea.

But not Scar. While others turned tail, he ordered his members to leap from the boat and dive into the waters. Using the [Water Breathing Potion], they swam toward where the action was taking place.

However, they almost lost their perception of space when they rose from the waves. Up close, the Kraken was so massive that it blocked most of the sky. Dozens of its tentacles were fending off its attackers from above.

Scar's adrenaline shut down in the face of such monstrosity when he realized he was all alone. He was totally cut off from the others, who got scared and remained a good distance from him. The ones who were still approaching him were his commanders, but even they were shouting at him to turn back.

But that didn't deter Scar. Despite shivering from where he stood due to both fear and cold, he single-mindedly saw this as an opportunity to cast a spell to steal the last Boss.

The Kraken had all its tentacles occupied with the armies and the flying creature, so it couldn't be bothered to spare Scar any attention. It worked in Scar's favor in the end. He made sure that he paid attention to his positioning while simultaneously using [Teleport] to evade whenever a blast from the crossfire was heading his way.

When the Kraken entered [Berserk Mode], it was enraged. Its HP and MP increased to half, and all its physical and magical attacks doubled.

However, that didn't seem to be a problem with the flying creature. With just one breath of an electrifying bolt, the Kraken's HP decreases to hundreds.

[The Kraken entered LAST STANCE MODE!]

[ACQUIRED skill, Ink of Darkness]

An ink splashed a huge area, engulfing a whole range of thousand radii that caused incurable [Blind] and [Poison].

Scar wasn't suspecting of it in the least, and he was amongst those who suffered [Blind] and [Poison].

Everyone heard a loud shriek, followed by a thunderous blast and roars. Blind and poisoned with decreasing HP, Scar took his chance to last hit the Boss and unleashed [Death's Cavalry].

Came with the hooves of the death's might were the last cries of the Kraken. With it, the dark sky cleared, and the storm ceased.

The bright morning air dispersed the remaining storm and titanic waves regained their calm at the Kraken's demise.

Loud cheers from the armies boomed in the sky, but the players remained paralyzed in place, waiting, agonizing, and curious to know who slayed the Boss.

They didn't even notice that the flying creature had suddenly disappeared amidst the anticipation that hung thick in the air.

When what everyone was waiting for finally arrived, fireworks blossomed, and a pleasant voice thundered in the sky.

[ CONGRATULATIONS to group **** on getting first blood from defeating a WORLD BOSS, the KRAKEN! ]

. . .

. . .

Group?

It wasn't a guild?

The shock from everyone was apparent as all of them tried to guess who the members of the group that got the kill. While everyone was confused and disappointed at the turn of events, Scar's face was ashen.

The gravity of the situation was sinking in.

It was supposed to be his last chance to redeem himself, but all had gone to nothing. He spent millions in preparation for the World Boss and millions more for the boats and balloons. But in the end, he had to face the investors empty-handed.

He didn't care about the money since his past contribution of clearing dungeons and defeating hidden bosses would cover for it. However, his reputation would take another hit. Three world bosses, yet Black Lion hadn't been able to kill any!

The only consolation he had was that Black Lion wasn't the only one who came out empty-handed from this fight. Still, the investors wouldn't take it kindly, and Scar had to answer why a top twenty guild managed to kill a boss while the top one didn't.
