Me, Adventurer! - Undoubled Skills Are Flat Magic

Episode 44 - When I got to the city, the event was already starting

Neither of us can travel long. On this day, the first camp on this journey showed it well.

Last night, Kristella was supposed to be on the lead by midnight, and I was supposed to be on the night shift from then until morning. The strong demons around us are obviously hunting, so it should take some time to come together from elsewhere. So I left it to Kristera to take the lead that I thought would be relatively safe.

And that was right. Near dawn, five tooth rats appeared near the tree we were sleeping in. But this is as far as we can imagine. What was different from the assumption was that both me and Christella were asleep.

It's now mid-autumn, so the night is nearly 12 hours long. If you two take turns at night, you'll be in charge for about six hours.

Honestly, it's been a long time! I'm free! I'm too bored!

Spending six hours of the middle of the night alone in this world of less entertainment is close to torture. There are no games, no smartphones. So I can't help but fall asleep before Christella takes turns. I could have fallen asleep, too. So I'm not going to have a problem with that. Just reflecting. I'll have to ask you later why you were lurking in my blanket.

When the tooth rat approached me, it was Woo who woke up first. I don't know any of the sounds, smells, signs, or more than one of them, but I woke up and Wu raised the roar of warning. It was a woo that sweetened like a dog that people were used to, but the wild seemed to stay. So I woke up, too, and I was able to intercept a fang rat attack. It's seriously good to have Woo as one of us. Cristella stayed asleep until the morning sun rose.

"So when we get to Dorton, we'll buy slaves! At least one, if possible more than two! Otherwise, I'm not going to be able to go away.

Have breakfast and talk about the future. The menu is a ketchup soup of forest potatoes, demonic meat and wild grass. Salt and herbs work properly, so they taste pretty good. I also feel a little heavy to eat in the morning, but this much is needed for adventurers who consume a lot of calories. Woo is eating the tooth rat he hunted this morning. The skin and front teeth can be sold as material, so I gave them the whole rest that cut them apart. I guess I eat every bone because I get bumpy noises from time to time. Successful.

"Damn, it's two corners... but I can't help it. Woo helped me this time, but given what's to come, we certainly don't have the two of us to forgive.

If there are more than four of us, we can turn the night shift sparingly. In fact, when I was going to Border Sets, Anna and I were turning it around. Nothing went wrong then.

"Don't Cristella hate having more slaves?

History is history, and Christella should have negative thoughts about slavery. Either way, you weren't born like me, because you were put into slavery for innocence. If there were other slaves right next door, wouldn't that remind you of that?

"I hate to lose you two, but I can't help it. If you're not a slave, you can't keep secrets.

Me and Christella both have magic out of common sense. That is definitely the level at which if the country or nobility finds out, they will be detained. This must be hidden wherever possible. Slavery can be enforced by contract marks, so we can minimize the risk.

"Besides, a slave bought by Master Beat is a happy man. You won't be badly abused, unscrupulous orders, and you'll be fed proper delicious food. I'm the slave, so I'll tell you.

"Oh, yeah? Don't light something up.

That's what Cristella said with a nickel laugh. I even thought it was a little cute unconsciously. No, I'm pretty sure it's actually cute.

"If I'd stayed up properly last night, I would have watched Master Beat's pretty sleeping face the whole time. It was unconscious of me to fall asleep while I was immersed in happiness.

It's ruined! And I'm scared! Rather thanks for sleeping!?

At the end of breakfast, dismantle the demon that was refrigerated and set off. By the way, all the dishes were made of my planar magic, so I don't need to clean them up. Just turn it off. Two birds with one stone can also reduce their luggage. My magic is handy after all.

Carriage speed is faster than yesterday. It runs at about 40 km/h. There's nothing unusual about a carriage running at this speed through an unpaved plain, but there's no one around here anyway. If you don't have witnesses, you don't have to worry. I didn't realize that yesterday. Unconscious.

I was still able to increase the speed, but I suppressed it to this speed because Woo couldn't walk side by side. We could travel faster if we put him in the carriage, but it's pathetic to keep him locked in the car all the time. Dogs love to run. No, not a dog... can I have a dog now? I'm talking about being a dog while the wolf lives with people, and Wu's already with me, so it's no exaggeration to say a dog. I don't know, but it's a dog.

I tried to get Cristera to make dried meat, but I stopped when I realized I didn't have enough time. The way to make dried meat is a simple recipe to soak thinly chopped meat in herbs and salt flavoring liquid and once the flavor has seeped in, boil it thoroughly before drying. It just takes 2 days to marinate and about 10 days to dry. By the time I can, I'm already in the city. Therefore, I decided to eat up the meat of the monster I hunted during this journey. There are more carnivorous women (woo), and they'll probably be fine. I have a refrigerator.

He was then attacked by demons several times, but ignored them and escaped, reaching the city of Dorton two days later. The city of Dorton was on fire. Physically.

"Dear Beat, there's smoke coming from the city! Maybe something happened!

"Wait, I'll explore!

No homa, hey, what!? When you arrive, it's burning all of a sudden or something!

Looking at the signs, it looks like a bunch of demons are pushing toward the city. If you look at the concentration on the north side of the city, it won't be the Great Forest demon. The signs are a little weak, and it doesn't look like a strong demon. Most of them look like goblins.

Speaking of which, Count Bullhead said mercenaries hired by the Jerkin Empire were breeding goblins in several places to attack the city. Is that it?

It sounds like there are demons besides goblins, but they may have flown in dressed to be driven up by more goblins. The number is quite high: 1000 would be over.

Fly the camera to find out more. It is on fire outside the walls that surround the city, sprinkling oil and setting fire to get rid of the demons. Thanks to this, the demons are a little far from the city, but some are moving east along the walls. We're southeast of the city, so if we stay like this, we'll be bowling with demons.

There are no demons at the south gate yet, so we're going to get into the city from there.

"Looks like demons are pushing from the north side. It's flowing east, so let's go south into the city now!

"I get it!

Woo, wahoo! I rang it once, but you know what I mean? I'm sure you don't understand. But forgive me because I'm cute.

"Where are you guys from?!? And what is that demon?

The south gate was not so large but seemed to be made of sturdy stone, and the thick doors assembled in Marutai were closed.

The voice was called from above a wall about 3m high, where there were women in their early 30s who looked like adventurers. He has a bow in his hand, and his arrow is pointed at Woo. To the obvious hostility, Wu peels her fangs and raises a roar of intimidation.

"We are adventurers who have traveled from the east! This demon is one of us, no danger!

That's how I shelter Woo while showing him the guild tag lowered by a leather strap from his neck. Cristella likewise puts up guild tags.

"... ok! I'll open the gates now so we can get in quickly! And if that demon does something, you take responsibility! Mark something so you know you're an obedient demon! Nice!!

That said the woman disappeared from the top of the walls. The castle gate slowly opened after losing the more so, and the earlier woman was seen through the gap in the door.

"Look, come on in! I hear the demons are already coming near the East Gate!

"Thank you. Sorry for the inconvenience.

With that said, the woman turned her eyes slightly round.

"You, nobleman boy? That's a lot of courtesy.

"No, a very ordinary civilian, though?

I was born a serf, but now I'm a normal civilian.

"... Extremely ordinary? What the hell is normal...?

Cristella's whining about something, but it's through. Normally through.

The gates of the castle shall be closed, and the doors shall be unloaded. It's a thick round too. The nearer the Great Forest, I guess the timber is available in abundance.

"If you were from the east, you'd have seen a bunch of demons, wouldn't you? Now there is an urgent request to the adventurer to repel the arr. All adventurers in this city are forced to participate. Straight down this street, there is a square. The biggest building there is the Adventurer Guild. So take the request and join us!

That's what the woman said and pointed to the street stretching straight out of the castle gate. I put that finger down and stared at our faces, and I said, a little out of my shoulder.

"I can't believe you're coming at a time like this, you guys. Whatever it is, it's safe and above all. It's a mess now, but you're welcome. Welcome to Dorton, the city of adventurers.
