Los Angeles Detective

Chapter 11 Obligations

Luke asked again, "How many of these Tasers do you have in your store?"

"There were really only two, and the other gun was sold in January."

"I want his identification information."

"Yes. But I hope this matter will stop here and not affect my business."

Luke said, "I'm not interested in a little shrimp like you, but if you dare to lie, I promise to let you retire early."

"I don't need to lie about this kind of thing. I'm just a businessman. Nothing is more important to me than business." After the boss finished speaking, he pointed to the stool outside the counter, "Please sit down for a while, I'll check Gun purchase records."

Luke didn't dare to relax his vigilance in the gun store. He scanned his surroundings and remained vigilant at all times.

"Sir, I found it."

The boss came over and put a piece of information on the counter, "This is the identity information of the customer who bought the modified Taser gun."

name, tony weir

Mobile number, 626 863 9845

Purchase date, January 13, 2022

There is also a copy of the driver's license under the information.

Photo copy of driver's license is a bit blurry.

Luke pointed to the camera in the corner of the roof, "Call out the surveillance video."

"Sir, the surveillance video can only be saved for one month. It is already March, and the surveillance video has been overwritten. I can't retrieve it."

"Hand over the hard drive that saves the surveillance video, and we will take it back to the police station."

"OK." The boss was a little reluctant, but he still followed Luke's orders.

David on the side was not idle either. After getting the customer's name and driver's license, he directly contacted the clerical staff Matthew to verify the information.

Soon, Matthew sent back the detailed information of his client Tony.

"Sir, the hard drive you want." The boss removed the hard drive and handed it to Luke.

David took the mobile phone and clicked on the clear photo of the customer Tony, "Is he the one who bought the modified Taser?"

The man in the photo is a Caucasian male who appears to be in his forties with a mustache.

The boss took a closer look, "Uh... kind of like it."

David said, "Hey, don't play tricks with me, look clearly, I want to answer accurately."

The boss looked embarrassed, "There are so many customers coming to the store every day, I can't remember everyone's appearance clearly, and more than a month has passed, I really can't remember."

David was a little dissatisfied and wanted to say something more.

Luke worried that what happened last time would repeat itself, and shook the hard drive in his hand, "David, we still have this, machines are more reliable than humans."

David glanced up and down at his boss, "You better not be lying..."

Watching the two of them leave the store, the boss heaved a sigh of relief and cursed in a low voice, "fuck! Two @#¥%..."

...

Inside the black Dodge Challenger.

David smiled, "Fishing for law enforcement, that's what you call using your brain. It's so old-fashioned. My grandpa used this trick when he was a policeman."

Luke said with a smile, "Human history is constant repetition. There is no such thing as new and old. The key is how to use it and who will use it."

"Are you going to study philosophy instead?"

"Yeah, I was discovered by you, please call me Professor Luke in the future."

"Come on, let's spend more time investigating the case." David rolled his eyes, "I got Tony's address from Matthew, should we meet him, maybe this guy is Taser Gun robbery' suspect."

"Gulu..."

Luke's stomach rumbled, "I suggest we go eat first."

"are you serious?"

"Of course, I don't want to handle the case hungry." In his previous life, Luke often went hungry and full to handle the case, and suffered from stomach problems at a young age.

He will not make the same mistake again.

The two went to a Mexican restaurant, and Luke ordered a beef burrito and a chicken burrito, along with a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice.

The burritos are made of cornmeal. The yellow and orange ones look very appetizing. They are wrapped with shredded purple cabbage, shredded carrots, shredded lettuce, grilled chicken or beef, and squeezed with salad dressing or sweet and spicy sauce. Happiness.

It's a bit like the domestic flatbread rolls, except that the meat here gives more and a stronger sense of satiety.

Very satisfied.

After lunch, Luke felt a little sleepy and sat in the passenger cab.

David was speechless and could only choose to drive.

"If I were the captain, I would use you as a role model."

Luke didn't even lift his eyelids, "That's exactly what I wanted to say."

David started the car, "Based on your work attitude, you probably won't have a chance to be promoted to captain in this lifetime."

"David, the world is not fair, success is not achieved through hard work."

"Don't imitate the preaching tone of the silver-haired old man, you are not as old as me."

"You're right, I'll rely on you to cover me from now on. I'll take a moment and call me when I arrive." Luke put down the car seat.

David shook his head and drove to Tony's address.

Luke squinted for more than ten minutes, feeling that the car was getting more and more bumpy, sat up and looked out the window, the scenery on the street had changed drastically.

The streets have become dirty and old, the sidewalks are full of colorful tents, homeless people can be seen everywhere, and the proportion of blacks and Mexicans has increased significantly.

Luke asked, "It seems that the suspect is not doing well."

"If you live a good life, you won't rob. There are a lot of drug addicts around here. I guess this guy is probably an addict." David sighed softly, frowning.

"You know what's going on around here."

"I'd rather not understand." David turned on the right turn signal and parked the car on the side of the road, "Here we are."

Luke checked the equipped gun. He used a Glock pistol with a magazine capacity of 17 rounds. It was light in weight, good in hand, and had no external safety. It could be fired as soon as possible in an emergency.

David took out the SUB-2000 carbine, showing disdain, "Hey, boy, it's time for you to change to a bigger one."

Luke patted the inside of his thigh and smiled, "I already have it."

David was speechless.

The two came to a dilapidated wooden house and pushed away the damaged wooden fence. The yard was full of weeds and random piles of debris.

David gestured for Luke to go to the back door and watch.

With guns in both hands, Luke walked from the side of the house to the back door, watching through the glass and finding no sign of anyone in the house.

At this time, David's knock on the door came from the front yard, "Boom..."

no respond.

"Boom..."

There was another hasty knock on the door.

David yelled, "Hey Tony, open the door, I know you're home."

There was still no response from the house.

Luke could hear it clearly from behind, and if anyone in the room couldn't have missed it.

The wooden house has only one floor, and the area is not large. Looking through the window to observe the situation inside, no abnormalities were found.

The suspect was either not at home or hiding somewhere in the house.

Luke returned to the front yard, "David, the suspect has probably escaped."

David was silent for a moment, and made a silent gesture, "I seem to hear movement in the room...yeah, it sounds like a cry for help."

Luke had a bad feeling, "What the hell are you doing?"

"I heard a cry for help in the house. As the police, we have the obligation and right to go in and check." After David finished speaking, he kicked the door open, "Bang!"

"LAPD!"
