5 – Odil’s Transformation★

With over ten years of household management experience, this was a piece of cake for me. Threads and fabric sliced through the air, and in an instant, the clothing-making process commenced. It truly felt like things were falling perfectly into place.

“Phew…”

Wiping my forehead upon completion, I looked at the finished product. Despite using only black fabric as material, what emerged was a splendid outfit adorned with elaborate decorations. While an ordinary person might have been astounded, I wasn’t surprised. In the world of comedy, this was par for the course.

“This should save me from some scolding.”

Carefully carrying the garment, I left the room and headed toward Odil’s laboratory.

“What’s the matter—…huh?”

“I tried altering the clothes…what do you think, Odil?”

“This is…”

“Today, these are the clothes Odil will be wearing! When he puts them on, he’ll look not just twice as impressive, but three times as magnificent than usual!”

“Have I seen these clothes before in my house?”

“Whether you have or haven’t!”

“Hmm…”

Odil seemed to fancy the stylish suit and took it away.

“Let me try it on once.”

“Yes! I’ll wait.”

As Odil headed to another room, I, left alone, gazed at the desk where Odil had been sitting just a moment ago.

“So, this is a communication mirror.”

I knew it had a fancy name, but I couldn’t remember such intricate details. The mirror still didn’t function, merely reflecting the room. Later, when using the mirror, it would likely display the same scenery in the room.

“Alright, now that the clothes are all made…”

I glanced around the messy room, placing my hand on my waist. Thanks to the thorough cleaning done previously, the crimson carpet and walls were spotless, but the rest was chaos. It had become messy in no time, a common occurrence in the realm of comedy, so I wasn’t particularly upset.

“Should I start tidying up the room?”

A cloud of fresh white dust rose, clink, clatter, clang! It echoed through the room.

Sounds akin to a construction site spread out, filling the room with a foggy cloud of dust. At that moment, Odil, having changed clothes and leisurely strolling, dashed into the room startled by the tumultuous noise, wearing a frozen expression.

“What on earth is all this!”

Shush, shush.

Simultaneously with his appearance, the white dust settled instantly, revealing the room as a classy sorcerer’s chamber.

“Huh…?!”

Unlike before, the entire room sparkled in black. Odil’s lab had magically transformed into something beautifully decorated as if an expert in room design had arranged it. The issue lay in the presence of furniture he hadn’t brought in.

“What… What’s all this? Where did you get…?”

“What? Weren’t they all in the room?”

“How could something like this be there?!”

“Well… Within the pile of things that were stacked up…”

“No, their size isn’t something that could come out of that pile, right?!”

As he mentioned, the celestial model hanging from the ceiling boasted a size akin to the pile of items. It didn’t make sense for such sophisticated furniture or decorations to emerge from the pile. However, it was something that could happen in the realm of comedy.

“But… they were there, right?”

As if expressing genuine doubt, when I tilted my head, Odil eventually gave up.

“Sigh… Forget it. I won’t ask where you got all this from. Just leave the room now!”

“Yes…”

I left the room, slouching my shoulders as if I were weak. As soon as I exited the room, I pressed myself against the door, holding my breath.

Swiftly, I cautiously opened the door and peeked inside.

“Hehehe… Is this my laboratory?”

Odil, sitting in front of a desk with a mirror, displayed a proud expression like an excited child. Even without looking, you could sense the exuberant expression on his face, as if he had become a grand sorcerer. I quietly closed the door.

“This should be sufficient.”

Even if I did this, if the experiments continued, there was no avoiding it.

“It’s been a while since I worked. I’m tired. I need some rest.”

I headed towards my room, intending to stretch and loosen my stiff body.

Until now, I had no idea how the actions I took today would unfold in my dreams.

In a spacious room resembling the royal palace’s dining hall, towering above the pitch-black land, a rectangular table in the shape of a dice was placed. Some people were seated at the table.

However, most of the seats were occupied by round, flat machines. The palm-sized devices emitted a faint glow, projecting holograms into the air.

Hmm, hmm.

Holograms appeared on the empty seats, one by one. Those who couldn’t come to the sorcerer’s meeting in person used magical tools to participate.

Hmm!

A hologram rose to the highest seat, and a low, cracked voice echoed in the meeting hall.

[Is everyone present?]

Someone answered his question.

[Odil has not joined yet!]

A chubby figure chuckled, looking at the still-inactive machine. Some others laughed joyfully, gazing at the non-operational devices.

‘Today, I’ll dispose of a body.’

‘Odil… quite a useful body. Should I express my interest in his head and torso?’

‘Always behaving recklessly, and it eventually led to this.’

Silently, they mocked Odil for not participating in the meeting on time. As the sorcerer Pan, with dry eyes, stared at Odil’s machine, he opened his mouth to start the meeting.

Hmm.

Just as Pan was about to utter the words to begin the meeting, the dormant machinery vibrated, and the screen flickered to life.

[Apologies for being late.]

All the sorcerers turned their attention to Odil.

“Wha…!”

[Oh…]

[Wow…]

The moment he revealed himself, the dark sorcerers who had been silently keeping their mouths shut marveled.

Odhil wasn’t particularly handsome. Nor did he possess an impressive physique. Moreover, he sported loose, seemingly cheaply bought clothes that made for quite a comical sight.

Yet today, he stood before them in a perfectly fitting tailored suit, leaning back on a clearly expensive leather chair, looking at them.

‘What’s floating behind him? Could it be representing celestial bodies?’

‘Hmm… Is that creature Uthia’s bone, representing an unknown animal, hung on the wall?’

Not only that, even his background was extraordinary. It was as if a beggar had overnight transformed into a high noble. As everyone gawked in astonishment, a feminine voice with a hint of mockery echoed through the conference room.

“What’s this, Odhil? Quite a stunning look you’ve got there.”

A woman, wearing outrageously short pants and a flashy bra, extended her pink nails and smirked oddly. As soon as she opened her mouth, everyone in the conference room clenched their jaws.

‘Why is the Four Lords participating in this meeting? Damn, we didn’t make eye contact, did we?’

‘Tsk, if she’s interested in you, life is going to be tough from now on.’

Most dark sorcerers couldn’t even meet her gaze properly and averted their eyes.

“Hmm, can I join the fun?”

[Uh, well…]

Odhil’s confident demeanor disappeared as he hunched his shoulders. Just as the atmosphere was getting tense, the door behind Odhil quietly opened. Fortunately, the sight of the door opening was hidden by the chair.

Peeking inside after opening the door was Lian.

‘Is everything going well?’

Worrying about her son as a mother would for her son’s first interview, Lian glanced into the room. At the same time, a presumed ‘comedy filter’ seemed to activate. The heavy atmosphere in the conference room, which had sunk, instantly softened.

“Why not ~ I want to go and play!”

The dignified figure she had shown moments ago disappeared as she suddenly acted cute and flashed a mischievous smile. Odhil, who would usually be terrified of losing his life, widened his eyes and unabashedly stared at her emphasized chest.

[If you want, anytime.]

“Really? Can I really go?”

[Yes, yes.]

A conversation like that between an inexperienced nerd and a gal high school student flowed.

[Ahem, let’s start the meeting now.]

At that moment, the powerful mage who had been maintaining the atmosphere with a heavy presence cleared his throat to ventilate the atmosphere.

‘It seems to be progressing well.’

It seemed possible to pass the situation without a horrendous outburst. Lian smiled proudly and quietly closed the door as her gaze drifted away. Simultaneously, the previously soft atmosphere turned heavy in an instant.

‘W-what did I just say? Did I invite that crazy woman? Me?’

Odhil, belatedly regaining his senses, trembled while his pupils shook uncontrollably.

“Master, you’re going to die! You’re going to die!”

Odil, paralyzed with fear, trembled uncontrollably, but the gazes fixed upon him were entirely different from before.
