27 – Greetings to the Organs

The fear and dread that had been felt moments ago now seemed dreamlike. Pia looked at Lian with a dazed expression.

“Why? Did you see something scary? A ghost, perhaps?”

Nodding, Pia listened as Lian, with a serious expression, spun an absurd tale. Perhaps due to being initially terrified and then suddenly relieved, Pia couldn’t manage her usual composure.

“Don’t forget, azimuth coordinates and… the tree pose…”

“Hahaha, stop it! You’re making me laugh so hard, my stomach hurts…”

How long has it been since I laughed like this?

All the pent-up emotions were suddenly released, causing laughter to continuously flow.

“What were you doing, not coming in?”

“Oh, I was having a very important conversation.”

“Pfft…”

The conversation between the two people, which would have normally been unpleasant, sounded amusing. Pia felt both startled and delighted by their unusual behavior, and didn’t resist.

“If it’s an interesting story you’re telling, come in and tell it. I want to hear too.”

As Lian and Noah entered the restaurant, Pia, who was left alone, tried to suppress her laughter and entered the restaurant.

{Are you having fun, sister?}

“…?!”

If her sister’s voice hadn’t come again, she would surely have thought it was just her imagination. The laughter that had been forming on her lips instantly faded, and a chilling fear spread throughout her body.

{How can you be having fun? You killed me, didn’t you?}

“No, no…”

{If you had tried a little harder, I could have survived. But you abandoned me on my dying day. You ran away and left me. So, it’s no different from killing me.}

A horror as if being thrown into a deep pit seemed to devour Pia once again. Instinctively, she grabbed onto the restaurant door handle.

{Sister? Where are you going? Are you trying to leave me again?}

Fear surged with the words that reached her. Pia’s mind was filled only with the thoughts of fear and the need to escape.

Urgently, she opened the restaurant door and as she entered, the hallucination grew fainter and then disappeared. Pia’s gaze turned towards Lily, who seemed to have just started her meal.

“Oh, my sister.”

Partly in a daze, Pia accepted the food and headed towards where Lily was.

“…Is it delicious, Lily?”

“Sister, do you have any pain?”

“No?”

How could I possibly feel pain? It should be you who is in pain.

The hallucination had ceased, but the whispered words from the hallucination lingered like burn marks, endlessly tormenting Pia.

“All of this is because of the ghosts.”

It was Lian who pulled her out of the restless state in the dark and brought her back to the bright place. As Lian spoke seriously about exorcism methods, the fear that had been gnawing at her mind disappeared in an instant.

“Oh! Jess, you’re amazing!”

“Amazing!”

As Pia looked at the bustling scene, laughter naturally flowed out. For the first time since becoming a slave, Pia laughed freely.

There was someone who didn’t appreciate the situation.

“Jegiral…! Why does the magic keep cutting off? Did someone cast a protective spell, by any chance?”

It was all because of Rian’s humor filter, but there was no way for Dovan to know that.

“If this continues, I’ll have to cast a stronger spell.”

Dovan blinked his eyes and gathered magic, casting a dreadful black magic spell on Pia’s bed. Dovan shrugged, bursting into a unpleasant laugh like a deflated balloon.

Rustle -.

“…!”

Suddenly, a sound made Dovan, who was laughing out loud, shrink his shoulders like a startled mouse. Then, he rolled his eyes quickly, scanning the surroundings.

Caw -.

“Tsk…”

A crow wandered around the garbage heap, letting out its distinctive cry for a long time. Dovan, who had been tense, thinking it was the Four Kings’ signal, breathed a sigh of relief.

‘I’ll get that slave as quickly as possible and leave this place!’

Dovan chuckled maliciously as he added more magic to Pia’s bed. Thanks to the unpleasant and quiet movements, like bugs crawling between garbage heaps, he could avoid being noticed by the Mia.

But, he was exposed to someone else.

“Hehe, I thought you’d run away or die, but you’re stuck here?”

Brown-tanned skin, bright hair between yellow and orange, eyes that couldn’t distinguish whether they were open or closed.

The Four Kings’ So Ji was looking down at Dovan from a high building, quite a distance from where Dovan was hiding. Behind him, a beautiful woman in cat-like appearance, dressed in a suit and with her hair tied high, spoke in a blunt voice.

“It seems like there might be another purpose.”

“Is there something more important than your life? Interesting, isn’t it?”

“Shall I catch him?”

“No, no. Let’s see what kind of treasure he brings.”

So Ji laughed casually and shrugged his shoulders.

“This is also part of education, so you can leave now.”

“But…”

“Rian.”

“Okay.”

He came to the kitchen to do the dishes and ended up being chased away. The reason was that the kids had to do the cleanup themselves.

The sight of children, about to turn ten, doing the dishes might seem like child abuse, but for the children, learning was a matter directly related to survival.

There was nothing to do once out of the kitchen. In this place without even a radio, meditation seemed to be the only thing to do.

“Hmm… Since I have something to ponder, how about taking a walk?”

The dilemma, pushed into a corner with no solutions or clues, unexpectedly raised its head.

“Sigh…”

The immediate response was a heavy sigh.

Iris had originally come to Odil’s laboratory to live as an experimental subject. Before she could fall into the hands of slave traders, Odil had escaped, and the laboratory had been completely engulfed in flames.

The original story had been completely twisted from the beginning.

“Ugh… She can’t really be dead, can she?”

An overwhelming sense of despair surged. The original work, which was supposed to be a cheat code, had been completely distorted from the early stages and was of no help.

“I wish I could confirm her status, alive or dead. But I can’t leave from here, and asking Mia to run errands in my place? No, even if she agrees, she’ll be caught by slave traders and sold again in an instant.”

Other suggestions like “Ask Mia to go shopping together,” “Sneak out of the mansion and search for Iris,” or “Find useful tools in the mansion and track Iris” were all useless.

Pavabat.

I screamed internally, messing up my hair.

“Argh! Seriously! I have to go outside to meet Iris, but there’s no way!”

As I screamed internally and lamented, a bold idea suddenly flashed in my mind.

“Huh? Can’t I just ask Mia?”

Mia was a cold-hearted sorceress, but she surprisingly listened well to Lian’s requests.

“Lately, she’s been quite responsive to my requests…”

Recently, the mentally exhausted Mia easily agreed to minor requests. I immediately turned towards the direction of the laboratory.

“If I ask nicely, she might help, right?”

Thoughts of various ideas to obtain information about Iris raced through my mind. Unconsciously, my steps quickened, and my breathing became erratic.

“Haah, ha!”

Thanks to the rapid pace, I quickly arrived in front of Mia’s laboratory.

“Hmm…”

After taking a deep breath, I cautiously knocked on the door and entered.

“Huh… What’s going on?”

Mia sat slumped in a chair with a vacant expression. Since she often made such a forlorn face while organizing data, I entered without hesitation.

“Um… Can you help me find someone, Mia?”

“Sigh…”

Mia let out a dry laugh and looked at me straight in the eyes. There was a hint of anger and annoyance in her pupils.

Even though Mia had treated me well, as a slave, it was, admittedly, crossing the line to ask her for help like hiring a mercenary.

However, I had a reason to boldly make such a demand!

“I’m so worried about my sister who looks exactly like me.”

“Sister…?”

“My sister with the same ‘bloodline’ as me.”

“The same bloodline… a new experimental subject…”

Mia’s crumpled expression instantly became blurry. If Mia, who was keen on my physique, found out, it would be an interesting story.

‘If I can bring her in, I can manage somehow!’

I could subject Iris to the same experiment Mia had subjected me to, but I wasn’t overly concerned. While Iris, being of warrior lineage, had a much more resilient body than an ordinary person, it wouldn’t be as extreme as mine.

‘Coming back from being turned into a skeleton is impossible.’

If Mia got angry and betrayed Iris, or if she didn’t stop experimenting on Iris, I could simply show Mia the mysterious charm of a more surprising comedic resident.

‘Just introduce the organs and say, “Excuse me, pretty lady, do you have some time?”‘

If lips and eyes attached to organs said, “Would you like a beautiful flower?” while handing over a rose from an unknown source, I could somehow pass it along.

If that didn’t work, I could bring up the setting I had laid out as an excuse before coming here: ‘If I experience a mental shock, my body weakens,’ and claim that my recovery is slow due to the absence of my sister.

“What does your sister look like?”

Whether Mia was overwhelmed by my words or not, her eyes sparkled, and she leaned forward. Unconsciously, her gaze went downward before returning to Mia’s face.

Clearing his throat, Iris revealed the fact that he was a slave, his appearance, and so on.
