I can guarantee that anyone who goes to Vainwatch city can find work, but the city won't raise any idlers. The choice is theirs to make."

Hearing this General Brendan nodded firmly

"I will relay this information to them . I'm sure they will be grateful for kindness you have  shown My lord"

Dante just nodded in response to Brendans flattered before asking

"So, is there anything Else you have to report?"

"No my lord. All the important topics have been covered. The rest of the things are miscellaneous things that can be handled by ourselves. Bothering the lord with such news would only be a nuisance. "

After hearing this Dante just nodded.

"Very well then, you may leave."

After being dismissed the general just slightly bowed towards everyone in the room before taking his leave.

Not long after the general left the giant double doors could be seen slowly creaking open as two figures entered the hall.

One tall. And one short . They both thin but not to the point of malnourishment but both eyes burned with a surprising vibrance.

It was Hans and Clay.

Over the past few days both of them had been slowly adjusting to the new lives. Dante had already instructed Lennox to teach  Hans in cultivation and he had already gotten started in the body refining realm .

Wich was evident from the new layer of muscles that covered his body which was in stark contrast to that stick figure he'd seen back at the blood pool.

Seeing his  two potential talents walking in a slight smile appeared on Dante's face

"So, how have  you guys feeling been feeling."

"We've been great my lord" replied Hans

Over the last few days I can feel my body slowly changing, growing stronger"

As Hans spoke he tightly clenched his fists feeling a force growing through his blood that he could have never even imagined before now.

Seeing this Dante just smiled

"Well it's good to see that you two are doing good. But now I have to ask you some important questions. Questions about your future."

As both boys heard this a serious expression appeared in their faces.

"I know I've said before that I would like for you two to follow me and maybe even serve me in the future if your strength progresses that point but at the end of the day, those are just my wishes. Id never force someone to follow me. The  choices  are yours to make. If you refuse I can arrange for you to live in Vainwatch city at any time. I won't take offence."

As soon as Hans heard this a stolen expression appeared on his face as he quickly dropped onto on knee.

"My lord, from the moment you acpperted me my circumstances have not changed. If you can provide me with strength then I would be willing to do anything for you. I'd kill, walk though hell if even give up my life!"

"Hans!" Scolded Clay

"You've just been saved and your spewing nonsense about throwing your life away."

Clay just couldn't understand Hans view point.

He was similar to Hans he had also been saved by Dante and whilst he did feel some positive emotions even sum sense of Duty to repay the man. Asking him to give his life is still a bit much. After all he'd just worked so hard to live to throw it away now would be an utter waste!

As Hans looked towards his best friend there was a show of emotion within his eyes but it was quickly suppressed by a crazed vigour

"Clay you wouldn't understand." Said Hans

"I've seen it Clay. How they slaughtered everyone. Your parents, Auntie and uncle, the village chief. My parents and even my little sister"

With each word the crazed light in eyes only seemed to grow wilder.

"I could do nothing but sit there and helplessly watched as they were all dragged and butchered like livestock. And all because I was weak. Because I lacked power. If The Dragon son can provide me with this power then no price is too much to pay!"

As Dante heard the boys words a complicated expression appeared on his face.

Part anticipation, part hesitation and even a hint of sadness.

Hans, that boy, was fundamentally broken.

Dante could clearly see that the child had a twisted obsession born for strength that he could only attribute to the twisted scenes he saw.

When he first saw Clay he had been impressed by the boys willpower and determination and seen him as a talent.

But What he now saw in hand went beyond just willpower, it was an obsession, one that had entwined itself in his very being constantly making him yearn for strength.

This obsession was talent, Dante wouldn't deny that.

As long as he provided him with the power he desired, Fante didn't doubt for a second that Hans would follow the order breaking his body and even his soul to completer it but it was this very same obsession that caused Dante to be hesitant.

It was like a double edged sword.

It's fine now that Dante provided him with strength but in the future if someone appeared that promised him even more strength would Hans remain truly loyal and unshaken?

In the end even if he could successfully cultivate Hans into becoming a true powerhouse, he would be like an extrey sharp sword in his hands.

Effective and able to follow through with even the most dangerous orders without hesitation but would still pose the risk of harming himself.

Dante's eyes flashed with a strange light as he looked at the boy kneeling towards him.

The poor boy didn't know that all sorts of risks and possibilities were flashing though Dante's mind. If Dante thought that the boy was truly uncontrollable he might just kill him there. No point in keeping a tool that's not useful and Dante wasn't one to share talents and let them be cultivated to harm himself, if he couldn't use it he may as well break it so nobody else could!
