I Have Seven Dragon Souls In a cultivation world

198 Chapter 198: The Villager's choice

So for better or for worse, Dante had pushed the boy on a path of struggle for power that he may never be able to truly recover from…

Dante just looked at the boy and patted his head.

"That hunger you feel right now, hold on to it.

Remember the feeling of having strength and vow to claim that power as your own! Without weapons or treasures, your goal should be to surpass the strength you felt today!

Clay, you're talented and I have high expectations for you. Don't disappoint me. "

As Dante spoke, Clay's eyes glowed with anticipation and pride.

A mighty Dragon Son, a man close to the royal family, had said that he actually admired his talent!

A mere peasant like Clay has never even dreamed of hearing these words from such an important individual.

To be valued so highly by such a person made Clay overjoyed, but it also put on a certain pressure.

The Dragon son had put faith in him and trusted him when he was at his lowest point, when had absolutely nothing to offer in return!

Clay refused to disappoint that trust, he refused to let him down!

So with a powerful conviction, Clay responded to Dante's words.

"Of course, Lord Dragon Son! I swear on my name to live up to your expectations!"

Seeing such determination from the boy, Dante's smile widened.

It seems like his efforts to inspire some sense of loyalty haven't been wasted.

After giving Clay a few more words of encouragement, Dante then turned to look at the remaining crowd of villagers.

It was clear that they'd been through a lot.

They were scruffy with burns and tears all over their clothing.

The unfortunate ones had lost their shoes to the fire and were standing barefooted on the rough gravel floor

They were tired, troubled, and beaten, but one thing was certain:

They were still alive!

The fire of life still could still be seen burning brightly deep within their eyes!

Even Dante was impressed by the determination of the regular people.

The saying is true.

Tough times really do breed tough people.

With this thought in mind, Dante cleared his throat and began speaking.

"I won't beat around the bush for you guys. Your home is no longer safe."

As soon as Dante finished his sentence, mutterings of unrest could be heard coming from the crowd

Dante ignored this and continued speaking.

"Now you guys have two options. Stay in the village and try to rebuild and defend against such future attacks. Or come with me to the protection of the nearby Vainwatch City.

The journey to Vainwatch city won't be short and I can't afford to wait on you people all day. Whatever your choices are, I'm going to need an answer from you soon."

After saying this, Dante headed away to give the people time to discuss amongst themselves.

It was also at that time that Rebecca floated down from the sky towards Him.

"You good?" Asked Dante once he saw Rebecca

Dante could feel the strong change in Rebecca's aura and was slightly concerned

"I'm fine." Replied Rebecca coldly

"I'm just extremely annoyed right now." Said Rebecca as she recalled the incidents that happened so far

The continuous taunts and insults flashed in her mind once again.

"That Damn Corpse Master!" Cursed Rebecca.

"He dared to make zombies out of Hidden Dragon Academy students! This grievance can not be forgotten. This hatred can only be repaid with his head!"

"Calm down Rebecca," said Dante as he grabbed the young woman.

"You're letting your emotions get the better of you. You need to remain calm. We'll deal with Corpse Master soon enough.

Besides, couldn't you see it? For the first time, the Corpse Master wasn't laughing. We hurt him today and we'll continue to do so in the future"

As Dante spoke, Rebecca could feel herself calm down once again.

"Yeah… you're right," said Rebecca

"I just don't know what's gotten into me lately. I'm just been feeling easily agitated for no reason."

As Dante heard this, he couldn't help but chuckle

"Rebecca. I've known you since I was born and one thing is for certain: you've always had a short temper."

Hearing this, Rebecca's eyebrows twitched in annoyance

"Isn't this the part where you say something comforting?"

"Comforting? Rebecca, you know that's just not my style," said Dante with a crafty smirk..

But before they could continue their conversation, they were interrupted by an approaching person.

"L-Lord Dragon Son," stuttered an elderly man

"I'm the head of this village that you have just saved, and the village has come to the unanimous decision to accompany you into Vainwatch City."

"Clever choice," said Dante as he smiled at the old man

"With your strength, strength deciding to stay would only be suicide"

It was then that Rebecca interrupted.

"So if staying was suicide, what would you do if they made that choice? Just watch them die?"

"Well, what else would I do?" replied Dante flatly

"I'm not bored enough to help people who won't even help him out themselves."

"Trust me Rebecca," said Dante, looking into her deep black eyes

"there's nothing more annoying than trying to help someone who doesn't want it?"

As Dante stared here, he suddenly turned away

"But there's no point in talking about this anymore.

those were all possibilities.  Now the villagers have  chosen to be helped and that's all that matters"

Turning towards the village chief, Dante carried on speaking

"Round up your villagers and tell them to get all their belongings.Rebecca, you stay and watch over them. I'll be going to get some people to help.

"Who?" Asked Rebecca in confusion

"Lennox and Klent of course!" responded Dante

After saying this, two pairs of wings burst from his back. Dante just gave Rebecca a wide smile before shooting off into the sky.

But Rebecca couldn't share Dante's amusement. As she watched him leave, her expression grew colder and colder until even the village chief was forced to back away from her.
