I Have a Research Support System

Chapter 433 Hand in hand (for subscription)

It was rare for Xu Qiu to be relatively "leisure" this week, without any trivial matters.

So, he worked on the article for four consecutive days from Monday to Thursday, and finally on Thursday night, he submitted the article "Scratch Coating Effective Layer of Non-Fullerene Standard Sample" to the target journal AM.

He and Han Jiaying shared this article, and the division of labor between the two was relatively clear. Xu Qiu proposed the idea of the experiment and wrote the article, and the school girl was responsible for the experiment.

After finishing the submission, Wei Xingsi said with emotion: "Another AM has been submitted. I remember that you also had an AM last month?"

Xu Qiu nodded and replied, "That's right, regarding semi-transparent devices, we have reported the first high-efficiency semi-transparent organic photovoltaic system."

"That shouldn't be a big problem, and I think opinions will come back soon," Wei Xingsi finished speaking, and handed over a stack of documents: "Look at some recent documents, there are quite a few good articles by other people."

After Xu Qiu took the document, Wei Xingsi pointed to the gift box in the corner and said, "Fang Guangwu brought me some lo-mei after he came back from a business trip. You can share it among the people in the group."

"Okay." Xu Qiu responded, and then returned to 216 with the documents in his left hand and the lo-mei gift box in his right.

Entering 216, Xu Qiu directly put the gift box in front of Duan Yun: "Teacher Wei gave us something to eat."

Duan Yun, who was a bit depressed at first, saw the gift box, and swept away the previous gloom, he smiled, his eyes lit up, and he went straight to it, peeling off its clothes layer by layer...

The lo-mei gift box mainly contains "duck products", including duck necks, duck feet, duck wing roots, duck gizzards, duck intestines, etc...

Xu Qiu took a box of duck necks, returned to his seat, gnawed on the duck necks while wearing gloves, and read literature.

According to the usual practice, he first ranks the articles according to the influence of the journal, and then reads them from high to low according to the influence.

There are indeed quite a few good articles in the near future. Although there are no articles above the level of orthodox "Nature" major sub-journals, there is a "Joule" with a comparable grade.

The research team of this "Joule" article is Xu Zhenghong, who developed a new type of derivative based on IDTBR material, named IDTBR-CN.

The molecular structure of IDTBR-CN is similar to that of IDTBR. The central D unit and π unit have not changed at all. The only change is the introduction of two cyano groups on the end group of the A unit Raodanine, which is why they added a "" to the material name. -CN (cyano)" name suffix.

Xu Qiu took a closer look at their synthesis route and found that the synthesis of IDTBR-CN molecule was very similar to ITIC, and the method of introducing cyano group also used malononitrile.

However, Xu Zhenghong and the others did not hide it, but directly pointed out the fact that "we borrowed the ICIN structure in the ITIC molecule" in the text, and quoted several articles from Wei Xingsi's research group Representative works include Xu Qiu's ITIC, and the early IDT-ICIN elements of the senior sister.

In the end, based on the device performance of IDTBR-CN acceptor and P3HT donor material, the efficiency broke through to 8%, and the device efficiency based on PCE10 donor material broke through to 12%.

In addition, they have done a lot of research on the stability of devices, including preparing devices in air, subjecting devices to continuous light, storing devices in a glove box in the dark for a long time, and storing devices in air with constant temperature and humidity for a long time, etc. The photoelectric efficiency change curve with time is very detailed.

At the same time, the illustrations in their articles are really good. They are not the ones directly exported from the ORIGIN software. They look very delicate. They are obviously made after secondary production. I don’t know if they are made by the students themselves or specially Find a company that undertakes this kind of business to make it, or have a professional artist in your group.

For large research groups, especially some research institutes with a large number of people, the division of labor will be more detailed, and there will still be a dedicated laboratory administrator, security officer or artist.

Of course, even if you have your own artist, you usually do it part-time. After all, a research group doesn't have so many pictures to repair.

Just like Tian Qing in the group, she is usually busy with her scientific research work. When she needs to make the cover of the cover article or submit a high-end article, she will be drawn out to draw and change the picture.

After reading the "Joule" article by Xu Zhenghong's research group, Xu Qiu generally felt that it was okay, but he always felt that it was still a little bit less interesting.

Xu Qiu believes that it is normal for their job to publish AM, EES, JACS, and NC journals, but it is a little bit reluctant to publish "Joule". After all, the 12% efficiency is not very competitive at the current stage. , and he didn't see too many new things coming out in this article.

If you are a reviewer, you will probably give a rejection opinion.

However, now that other people's articles have been published, Xu Qiu can't say much.

After all, there are many factors that affect which journal an article will eventually be published in. The quality of the article itself is only one factor. For most articles, this factor may account for less than 50%.

Xu Qiu also roughly analyzed the reasons why Xu Zhenghong's "Joule" article could be published:

It may be pure luck, and the reviewers I met are all NICE;

Or a large group of halos, if the name of the big boss is listed as the corresponding author, who would dare to reject my manuscript;

It may also be because the "Joule" journal focuses more on the field of organic photovoltaics in terms of manuscript acceptance, and has lower requirements for the quality of articles in the field of organic photovoltaics. Similar to NC, it is more biased towards theoretical research than pure materials. Work is more welcome;

Or maybe "Joule" is a new journal with a lack of manuscripts, and Xu Zhenghong just invited Xu Zhenghong to contribute to their journal, just like Wei Xingsi was invited to write a review before;

It may also be that "Joule" likes some gimmicks and bells and whistles. For example, Xu Zhenghong used concepts such as "classic donor P3HT" and "multiple stability tests" here, and made the articles with pictures very delicate.

Thinking of this, Xu Qiu suddenly had an idea. No matter what the reason was, the work of "full solution, colorful, translucent devices" that he had given to his senior sister before was full of gimmicks. If Tian Qing could help make some beautiful ones Perhaps you can also try to shock a wave of "Joule".

Now the impact factor of "Joule" is about to hit 30, as long as the article can be accepted, there is a high probability that it will not lose money.

Moreover, Wei Xingsi’s research group actually has a “big group halo”. The editor-in-chief personally invited the manuscripts for the previous review of “Joule”.

This can be regarded as the default human relationship in the academic circle.

You invited me to contribute, and I responded to your call to contribute, so when you submit again in the future, it must be convenient.

Similar situations also include "free" review of manuscripts for journals. It seems to be free, but it is actually paid.

When you have reviewed a lot of manuscripts for a certain journal, and then submit your article to this journal, as long as it is not the kind of article that will be "rejected at a glance", the editor will probably give you a chance to submit it for review instead of rejecting it immediately.

You must know that many people submit manuscripts at the first step, that is, they are directly rejected by editors after submission. The probability of direct rejection by editors of many journals is as high as 30%, or even more than 50%.

Of course, ordinary human relations stop here. Whether your peers will spray you into a sieve after the article is submitted for review depends on the quality of your work.

In addition to Xu Zhenghong's "Joule", Gong Yuanjiang also published an ACSEL.

What Gong Yuanjiang's research group is doing this time is the design and synthesis of small molecule donor materials, and combining them with non-fullerene acceptors to realize photovoltaic applications.

They developed a small organic molecule donor material with metal zinc ion coordination, named Z7.

I have to say that this Z7 material is quite interesting.

On the one hand, its molecular structure is relatively unique. In the field of organic photovoltaics, molecular structures with coordination bonds are not rare, but they are not common.

On the other hand, the light absorption spectrum of organic photovoltaic materials generally presents a "convex" shape, that is, a peak.

The light absorption spectrum of Gong Yuanjiang's Z7 molecule is "concave" shape, specifically, it absorbs light in the range of 400-600 nanometers, absorbs light in the range of 800-1000 nanometers, and absorbs almost no light in the middle 600-800 nanometers.

Therefore, this Z7 material can just form a complementary light absorption and concave-convex combination with the ITIC whose light absorption range is mainly in the range of 600-800 nanometers.

After a little thought, Xu Qiu came up with the reason:

The material exhibits light absorption characteristics, mainly because there are specific groups in the molecular structure, so when there are two groups with large differences in light absorption properties in a photoelectric material, the two groups in the Z7 molecule will naturally appear. the absorption peak.

In addition, there are two AM works, one of which is the Lu Changjun research group of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Their AM mainly focuses on the design and synthesis of polymer donor materials, and ITIC is also used for acceptor materials.

There are a total of four newly developed donor materials, all of which are D-A binary conjugated copolymers. The D units are BDT and TT, and the A units are TPD and TZNT. Then combine them in pairs, and finally study the donors. The influence of the change of the molecular structure of the material on its intrinsic optical and electrical properties, as well as the morphology, transport, and optoelectronic properties after blending with ITIC.

In the scientific research circle, when different research groups encounter the same problem, they may have different solutions.

For example, in the field of efficiency breakthroughs in the field of organic photovoltaics, Xu Qiu mainly focuses on the design and modification of acceptor molecules, while Lu Changjun and his team have a background in the development of polymer donor materials, and they tend to optimize through donor structure design. .

Speaking of which, some of the structural units in the donor materials of Xuemei H series and J series are relatively old structures. When these structures were developed, it was thanks to Lu Changjun's research group.

Generally speaking, although there is competition between different research groups in the scientific research circle, in the same field, everyone is working together to advance in the general direction.
