26 – Warlock (5)

The world of Grim Darker is a tragic world.

It wasn’t that the level of tragedy was high or that the tragedy was heartbreaking.

This meant that tragedies were common. Because the world has always been made up of quantity, not quality.

What made Grimm Darker was a tragedy, closer to despair than hope. It was that kind of world.

I thought I knew that well, but contrary to expectations, it seems I didn’t know that well yet.

“… I’m tired.”

The words naturally came out of my mouth. Even though I wasn’t the type to talk to myself often, I did.

As I forced my eyes to close and took one step at a time, the warm light of the sun gradually came closer.

The process of leaving the charnel house was slow and tiring. If I weren’t a homunculus, I thought I might have died from overwork.

But because I am a monster, I was able to keep walking. I can finish what I started on my own.

With that thought in mind, I continued to move forward.

I crossed the crack I first squeezed myself into and finally made it to the outside.

There were people there.

People who have become one and the same. In between, I looked around.

There was little damage to the city. Only the collapsed city hall and surrounding buildings were slightly damaged.

My body and armor, which were going to regenerate anyway, were not included in the damage axis.

It was fortunate. I stepped out of the rubble, and only then did people slowly flock to me.

“Market.”

And then I found a familiar face. The mayor stopped a snow leopard that was approaching me and looked at me blankly.

I approached him.

His guards were on guard against me. It was obvious that he was worried about whether or not he should aim his weapon.

I didn’t mind. I was tired. I wanted to just collapse and fall asleep, but I had to force myself to get up because there was still work to be done.

“Take it.”

“That’s… “You’re a warlock, right?”

Just as he said, there was a warlock in my arms. A dead body carried in a hug.

There was a hole in my heart, and my once beautiful appearance now contained only the grave dullness typical of a human being in eternal sleep.

I can no longer perform black magic. Likewise, it is not harmful. Even if I had left it there, no one would have said anything.

I didn’t want to leave this woman’s body there.

Even though I did something, I didn’t feel like I should let it rot there.

I couldn’t tell if it was simply because I felt sympathy for her after learning about her situation, or if it was because I felt the same way because I also killed someone.

It could go either way. I barely opened my eyes, which were about to close, and spoke.

“That’s right. And… “It is also a body to be buried.”

The market was showing complicated feelings. Should I at least lie?

I walked up to him who was standing there blankly and handed her body to him.

“If you don’t ask, you will be resurrected. “The soul within it is already magic in itself.”

I don’t believe it. But I knew what I wanted.

He could barely hide his uncomfortable expression.

“I understand. “I will make sure to bury it and prevent something like this from happening again.”

“And after you clear the debris, don’t use that spot. “The warlock also has several spells that use corpses.”

The mayor opened his eyes wide as if he didn’t know. I walked past him and approached Isla.

Even though he was expressionless, he had a serious expression. My condition was reflected in her big eyes.

I was in tatters.

Although the armor was roughly put together, his entire body was stained with blood, so it seemed more appropriate to call him a blood knight rather than a black knight, and his staggering steps were evidence of the hardships he had endured.

It is a living corpse. If I left the city like this, I could see myself dying before I could take a few steps.

Only then did I realize the gaze people were giving me.

I saw a future where the hero who saved the city dies like always.

It’s a common, always happening thing in Grimm Darker. Those who show courage and stand up to adversity either die miserably or collapse after completing their work, never to rise again.

I didn’t want to meet their expectations. So I walked up to Isla and put my arm around her shoulder.

“I’m tired. “My sister will help me.”

It turned into a hug, but she quickly figured out my intention. It was nice that he was quick-witted. She immediately patted my back and changed her position with her support.

And I walked. It was easier to walk as I kept pace with my steps, step by step.

Her unique calm and pleasant scent relaxed her tense nerves and seemed to take away the fatigue that still remained in my body.

I was so tired that I felt like I was going to die, but thanks to that I was able to walk.

“Let’s get out of the city like this.”

Isla nodded in silence and led me to walk outside the city.

People’s gazes were burning. Is it an illusion that I feel like a crow watching when I will die?

As I concentrated on walking, I heard a voice.

“I’m sorry.”

It was Isla. I didn’t bother to ask what I was sorry about.

It was obvious.

It was clear that he was apologizing for not being able to follow along and for not being helpful.

How long have you known? I had no intention of doing so. In fact, even if she wasn’t there when I came out and she had already run away, she wouldn’t even have cared.

… No, that’s not right.

Actually, I probably felt a little depressed, but I couldn’t help it. Everyone had one life, unless they were a monster like me.

It is the same even if it is the lineage of a shapeshifter. I think she would have been more uncomfortable with it if she had laid down her life for me.

Just by not doing that, she proved that she was a trustworthy person.

“Don’t do that.”

“I wish I could have been helpful.”

“I told you not to do that.”

Even if she had come down together, I don’t know if she would have been helpful. She may have died in the process of coming down.

The magical power that made my body limp and took away my vitality proved it.

No human being could go down there. The Black Knight’s magic resistance is not even close to that level.

Even max level players don’t do crazy things like this. I walked steadily and barely managed to come to my senses.

If I was going to lose consciousness, I had to get out of the city and out of sight.

As far as I was concerned, the house was nice.

I have a sister, and there is food when I open the refrigerator without worrying about starving.

To the home of tomorrow.

As my face was filled with laughter without even realizing it, Isla, who was supporting me next to me, stumbled.

“Llewelyn?”

I suddenly felt drowsy. A tingling sensation began from the tips of her fingers, and her strength was draining away.

I was tired. My eyelids were heavy. So much so that not even the strength of a monster could hold it.

“You can’t sleep. Wake.”

The soft voice was pleasant. I felt like I could sleep comfortably if I closed my eyes like this.

Actually, maybe all of this is a dream. Otherwise there was no way I could have felt this drowsy.

That must be why your body is so heavy and so comfortable. I raised the corner of my mouth, and Isla tried to move me.

Grunting and intermittent panting sounds. A voice that is pleasant to listen to and has a strangely s*xy quality to it.

I realized that I could no longer hold my eyelids shut.

So, even though I only see it in my dreams, I wanted to say hello.

“See you later.”

I closed my eyes, leaving a hint of greeting in a whisper.

“Not-“

The woman’s voice disperses urgently.

It was a while later that I opened my eyes again.

*

The first thing I saw was the huge open ceiling.

The countless stars looked like spilled rice grains that I once saw, and there was a moon above them.

The round image was very bright and cool.

The light scattered gently onto the ground was good for the eyes.

There was something like a translucent law under the moon and stars and the night sky.

[Name: Llewelyn]

[Occupation: Warrior – Mourner 3]

[Reputation: Bloody Black Knight]

[Play time: 8,901 hours]

A translucent window that fills the corner of the eye. It was a status window that could be made small at any time if I wanted.

I looked at the status window blankly and noticed that a lot had changed.

But there was no time to just stare at it blankly. This was because a pair of eyes were staring at me in the dark.

Even though I have a large liver, I was shocked for a moment and felt a surprising amount of ghostliness in the eyes. The blue-grey eyes were reminiscent of a pair of moons.

“If you do that again, you’ll die.”

It was only then that I reflected on what had happened, hearing a voice that even felt cold anger.

I fainted.

It was a reaction that broke through ‘Human Shadow’, a mock transcendental and one of the legendary spells of the Inquiry School.

And when I thought back on what I had accomplished, I realized that it was worth it.

Human Shadow, one of the legendary spells of the Exploration School, was a spell that focused on absorbing ability points and damage from necromantic properties, which include negative energy and negative energy.

Of course, it was a spell hostile to life, and it was so powerful that even the caster turned to dust and died after using it.

It was not clear exactly why it was used, but if it was used properly, it would essentially erase a city.

It was prevented and suppressed in advance. This would have been impossible if it were a game, but to some extent, it was a feat that was possible as a reality.

And thanks to that, my level increased and my abilities also increased. Considering that the ability level does not increase unless there is a very special opportunity, it is understandable….

Ouch.

“It hurts.”

“Answer me. “I don’t think so.”

Perhaps because I had been lost in thought for too long, Isla opened her eyes and pinched my nose as if she was angry.

“No, I wish I hadn’t done that in that situation….”

“Not that one.”

“Other than that, what?”

“Don’t greet me like you’re about to die.”

Was it like that? Before her thoughts could continue, Isla looked angry and pressed her finger to the bridge of her nose.

“You almost cried.”

It was unexpected. I thought she was an honest woman, but I couldn’t believe she would say something like that.

“Sorry, I won’t do that.”

I answered in a daze, and then Isla let out her sigh.

Although I still thought she was a strange and distant woman.

Still, Isla’s thighs, which she was using as a pillow for her knees, were soft.

I rolled my eyes as I lay down, satisfied with the bedding provided.

[Strength: 20(+5)][Dexterity: 20(+5)][Health: 22(+6)]

In its place were changed abilities.

The power responsible for pure strength and muscle quality.

Agility that combines reflexes and senses.

And finally, health, which encompasses the body’s strength and regenerative capacity.

Among them, health was 22, up 2.

It was a reward for enduring enormous damage, repeatedly regenerating, and maintaining the will to live.

Considering that the numbers in parentheses are levels, it meant that my body’s strength and regenerative power had increased by one level.

And in Grimm Darker, the difference of one level was actually a different level.

Now, life forms that exist in nature could not explain my regenerative power and the strength of my body.

It was a talent that would be of great help in whatever I do in the future.

I closed my eyes, delighted with the unexpected reward.

“If you’ve seen everything, can I talk now?”

I opened my eyes again to an unexpected being.

I rolled my eyes to the side and saw a man sitting in front of a bonfire.

A man wearing a cloak over a doublet and a short curved sword at his waist.

A being that could be described as aristocratic. He and I were spherical.

“… “Mayor Betus?”

The mayor of the city I saved and someone who will be busy rebuilding the city hall in that city.

He said, relieved that I hadn’t fallen asleep yet.

“First, let me get to the point. “The Heresy Inquisition has come to the New World.”

Heresy Inquisition Office. As soon as my face hardened, Imperial Magistrate Vetus Servan spoke.

“They are looking for you.”
