27 – Comprehensive Exam (4)

The second and final day of the Comprehensive Exam.

After completing all of the written tests, Yujin fell asleep on her desk and woke up to the sound of gossip around her.

“He overpowered the bandits and recovered Marcel’s antidote.”

“Do you believe that?”

“I heard that the commoner is real?”

“I don’t have anything to believe, do you believe the common people?”

‘What bullsh*t is this… ….’

Yujin raised her upper body and looked around. Students all over the classroom looked at him and whispered.

“I heard that a commoner’s father told me?”

“It is said that he is a high-ranking person in Florence.”

“A branch manager?”

“Not that much… ….”

Are you a commoner’s father or a branch manager? It was full of strange sounds.

‘When you don’t know, it’s best to ask.’

Getting up from his seat, Eugene grabs a random student and asks.

“What are you talking about?”

“Huh? Didn’t you hear it because you were sleeping? A commoner is talking about you in the hallway.”

“Commoners?”

“Hey, is it more real than that? Did you subdue the bandits and cure the branch manager’s granddaughter?”

From noble mtl dot com

“If you are a commoner… ….”

“Hey, where are you going! Won’t you even answer me?”

The student in the back shouted, but Eugene didn’t care. He walked out of the classroom and looked down the hallway.

“Really! Eugene-sama defeated the bandits and cured the branch manager’s granddaughter!”

“He sits laughing.”

“If the bastard defeated the bandits, I killed the dragon.”

“Don’t speak ill of Eugene. All, all real…….”

“Really? Is it real?”

“Jinjjooleogke~”

“… ….”

Luna bit her lip and she swallowed soft tears. The students who laughed at her did not stop mocking her whether Luna cried or not.

‘What kind of situation is this?’

I needed time to accept it because the situation I saw after waking up was so abnormal. Not for long, just for a moment.

He thought for a moment based on what he had seen and heard before coming to a conclusion.

‘I don’t know how or what I found out.’

Luna, who found out about Eugene’s request, was spreading good rumors to repay her kindness.

Eugene strode forward and looked at Luna with her back to the laughing students.

“Eugene…….?”

Luna’s eyes widened. Yujin looked at him and asked.

“…… What are you doing now?”

It was purely a question of what you are doing. But did it burst the resentment he had been holding back for so long?

Luna shouted, bursting into tears.

“I talk about Eugene’s good deeds, but the kids don’t believe me!”

“… ….”

Yes. I don’t believe you.

“Leave it alone… …. Believe it or not, it doesn’t matter.”

“Why doesn’t it matter!”

Hmm?

At that stern answer, Eugene looked at Luna suspiciously.

“How can I just look at how low Eugene-nim’s reputation is?”

“Mi, the bottom…… ?”

Your reputation is at rock bottom…….

Suddenly, mental damage came in. Eugene knew better than anyone how ruined his reputation was.

But hearing it from someone else’s mouth felt like a nail was being driven into her chest.

“We have to raise Eugene’s poor reputation!”

“It sucks… ….”

“A terrible reputation for wasting your life crazy with women!”

“Damn, damn… ….”

Eugene was stunned.

“That’s why we need to raise the rank of that name! Eugene-nim is not the kind of person who will be treated with such trivial glances!”

…… I want to get a good look too.

But what can I do? The previous owner of the body was cool and went away.

Eugene looked at her Luna with her lost face. She showed a strong will to raise the reputation of Eugene, who had penetrated the ground, no, underground.

‘There’s nothing wrong with my reputation improving… ….’

However, there was a distinction between what I wanted to do and what I could do. In Eugene’s opinion, his unanswered reputation wasn’t something that could be changed no matter how he talked about it.

The quickest way was to ignore all the swearing people at such a time, build up your strength silently, and prove it with actions, not words.

Come to think of it, Luna’s effort was commendable, but it was true that it felt awkward.

“Can’t you just ask yourself?”

“That would be fast.”

“Hey, Eugene phone blah blah blah. Look back.”

What did I just hear?

A strange sound came from behind. The voice sounded like the students mocking Luna.

Looking back, they were the real ones.

With a face full of ridicule, even an attitude that touches you. It reminded me of some guys who hit the rooftops before they died.

“…… Are you guys from the Amhwa class?”

“What kind of nonsense are you talking about? That’s right, though.”

That’s right. This is so true oh my gosh

Are the people in the encryption class destined to become delinquent students? If so, it couldn’t be their fault. Just as a creature designed to do wrong cannot be called a sin to do wrong…….

‘Ah, I don’t know.’

I wasn’t in a position to think like that. The blacksmith cracked open his mouth.

“Is it true that you subdued a group of bandits and healed the granddaughter of the head of the guild branch?”

She let the question go in one ear and looked at the crest of the dark half of the guys’ chest. As before, I couldn’t tell which family it belonged to, but the pattern on the frame meant the viscount.

‘So the level is a bit higher than those plague bastards before.’

It is said that they are similar.

After completing the situation, Eugene answered the question.

“It’s true.”

It was also annoying to roll my head against these guys. It wasn’t a fact to hide, it was all the truth, so I just replied that it was the truth.

It was just that.

The faces of the blacksmiths swelled up like puffer fish and burst open.

“Puhahahahaha!”

“A woman-crazy guy defeats bandits and treats the branch manager’s granddaughter…” … Oh my gosh!”

“If that’s real, what am I? Huh? How do I get the balance right?”

The blacksmiths laughed heartily. The loud noise caught the attention of the students around him.

The blacksmiths continued to ridicule them even more intensely, saying that they were so good.

“How weak are the bandits, how can they be beaten by the likes of you? Huh?”

“Ah, I think I know. So the bandits were actually kids living in the mountains. No matter how good it is, aren’t the kids going to win?”

“That makes sense. Then what is it The branch manager’s granddaughter, who is waiting for the day she will die at an old age, suffered from a cold, just what?”

Indeed, it was an outrageous disparagement.

The bandits Eugene defeated became children living in the mountains, and the rare disease her granddaughter suffered from became a cold. It was safe to say that no student would take such slander seriously.

If it wasn’t for Eugene.

Because it was Eugene, the students around her listened to the students of the encryption class rather than Luna’s words.

“This is not this… ….”

Luna’s face was on the verge of crying. She did this to dilute Eugene’s bad reputation, but she rather tried to make her reputation worse.

“Yoo, I’m really sorry, Yujin. I had no intention of doing this…….”

Luna held back tears that were about to spill and apologized.

Yujin looked at him with expressionless eyes, then put a hand on his head and turned around.

“Okay. You did nothing wrong.”

His cold eyes stared at the blacksmiths.

‘What if people don’t believe what I said because they asked me?’

You have to believe it.

Eugene did not intend to spread a good reputation saying that he cured a rare disease. Right now, he felt relieved just by proving that he had subdued all the bandits.

How to prove that?

‘I’ll find out when I get beaten up.’

The veins in Eugene’s fist rose like lightning.

Those with less human nature had an obligation to beat them up and turn them into human beings. If you die or become disabled while becoming a human, it’s a pity.

Kwaaak!

As Eugene’s magic-powered feet stepped forward, the floor of the corridor sank into a hollow. His back buckled and his fists were ready to swing.

That moment.

“Who are you to say such a thing?”

A fiery voice imbued with magic resounded through the hallway.

All the students stopped what they were doing in unison and looked in the direction where the voice was heard. Luna who was on the verge of crying, and Eugene who was about to throw out his fist.

A female student was striding along. The faces of the blacksmiths who saw this turned blue.

“Tee, Tina?”

Beautiful blond hair that looks like an angel descended, long double eyelids, thick eyelashes, and bright red eyes that look like they are studded with rubies. Tina von Elia, who draws everyone’s attention just by her appearance, stops her steps in front of the students of the Encryption class.

“T-Tina, why… ….”

“Why is this suddenly…… ?”

Where did they go when they were so energetic in front of Eugene? When Tina appeared, she was at a loss and didn’t know what to do. Because in front of her, they were as small as dust.

If she becomes the owner of the great Countess of Florence, does she seem to hate her?

It would have been better for the family to mortgage all of the family’s wealth and jump into the gambling table.

To that extent, being hated by Tina was something that should never have happened.

The blacksmiths didn’t know what to do and bowed down to Tina. But Tina had no intention of erasing the anger from her face.

“I don’t know what you guys have said so far… ….”

Tina was nearby, and she heard the whole story.

She coldly opened her mouth.

“Will you do what you just said?”

“Ooh, what did we say?”

“The branch manager who is waiting for the day he will die of old age.”

“…… !”

“And the disease his granddaughter suffered from was a cold.”

“My, I am like that… ….”

The blood drained from the faces of the dark arts class students. It was a thoughtless remark meant to ridicule Eugene. However, hearing it again through Tina’s mouth, it was an absurd remark that the Countess of Florence would feel humiliated by.

“We, the Countess of Florence, value those who worked for the family, regardless of status.”

From Tina, the dignity of a woman who would become the head of a great county family emanated.

“Marcel, the branch manager of the capital of the empire, is a person that everyone respects. What do you, who couldn’t accomplish anything, believe in to disgrace our family’s precious person?”

What are you guys saying?

Tina looked at the students in the darkening class with her distorted face.

“Because of you, you crazy bastard… ….”

“Put your head on. f*ck you bastard!”

Two students from the darkening class rammed the head of the madman who insulted Marcel into the ground, and begged Tina for forgiveness.

“We are sorry!”

“I’m really sorry! Close your eyes for once and move on!”

But Tina opened her mouth with her anger unresolved on her face.

“There’s something I really don’t like.”

“What is it? Just talk!”

“It’s not me that you insulted me, it’s Marcel and Eugene. Why do you keep apologizing to me?”

“Yu, Eugene…… ?”

The students of the darkening class looked at Eugene and then at Tina.

Looking at Tina’s hardened face, she seemed to want to apologize to Eugene.

Unfortunately, even in this situation, they were nobles, and they didn’t want to bow their heads to Eugene.

One of them opened his mouth trembling.

“So, honestly, I know we did something wrong. If it’s for you, we’ll apologize no matter what! However!”

The guy squinted his eyes and shouted.

“Honestly, that makes no sense! How did that bastard defeat the bandits and save the branch manager’s granddaughter? All I know is that bastard is an asshole! And you’re actually an asshole! I have no idea why I have to apologize to that bastard.”

She felt no restraint or shame in bowing her head to Tina, who was more powerful than she was.

However, she did not allow her to apologize to Eugene, who looked worse than her, even if his pride died.

Even if it’s your fault!

‘Why do we, as viscount writers, have to apologize to that baronet, a baron?’

The students of the encryption class looked up at Tina, thinking that Tina would also agree with this aristocratic way of thinking.

But Tina’s face was cold. There was even disgust in her eyes.

“To think these guys are nobles and lead the country…….”

It’s just garbage without an answer.

Listening to their defense, Tina realized that there was no point in exchanging opinions with them.

If it wasn’t a conversation partner, he would only use means other than dialogue.

Tina opened her mouth.

“If that’s what you think, then I understand. Then let’s do this. To be honest, I don’t have that much power, and there’s nothing I can do other than have good or bad feelings for you guys.”

Having such bad feelings was something that all nobles were extremely afraid of.

“But just because you don’t like it, you can’t blindly hate it, right? You have to clearly point out who was at fault and hate them so that there is a justification.”

Sure.

“Eugene.”

Tina looked at Eugene with her serious face.

“Everything Luna has said so far is true?”

She was unaware of it. If she had asked Marcel once, she would have known, but unfortunately, she was busy with her studies and training and never met Marcel. She therefore had to ask.

Is everything Luna said true?

Exactly, can I trust what you did?

Yujin slowly opened her mouth.

“It’s all true.”

Tina looked intently into Eugene’s eyes. She was an unwavering pupil. With that alone, she Tina seemed like she could trust him.

To be precise, I wanted to believe.

If you believe Eugene’s words right now and show him antagonism with the viscounts who don’t even look like him.

If you take his side with that.

Of course, I was able to help him a lot.

If she, the only daughter of a great count, openly sided with him in front of so many students, no one would be able to gossip about Eugene from now on or easily touch her.

Even if you don’t like his reputation, it’s bound to rise naturally.

If you turn against some families even though you are not the head of the family, you may have to be punished in the future.

That’s why, rather, that’s why.

This was the moment of choice given to the being who would lead the great merchant family.

Do you believe in the potential of Eugene that you saw and sided with him and turned against some of the viscounts?

Or do you just pass by without incident?

From noble mtl dot com

‘I want to believe in Eugene.’

She highly appreciated Eugene’s talent and his potential.

If he could get a chance to invest in him, he would have been willing to risk being punished by his family.

‘So… ….’

Now, this moment. She declared in front of everyone with her magic power.

“Tina von Elia Florence vouches for this spot. All the rumors spreading about Eugene right now are all true, and I have seen and confirmed it with my own two eyes.”

The surroundings were enveloped in silence. No one was able to open their mouths at those shocking words.

“And the moment I, Tina von Elia, become head of the family, I declare that I will sever dealings with the families to which those who insulted my family, Marcel, and the innocent Eugene von Lennon Grace belonged.”

“Wait a minute!”

“What the hell are you talking about!”

“What are you talking about!”

“This is a sincere declaration as the successor of the Florence family, and I say it once again in the presence of everyone watching.”

With that said, Tina shut her mouth.

And no one dared to speak.

It took them a long, long time to come to terms with the shock of what just happened.
