70 – Festival-10

Nothing happened.

‘What is this…’

Katharine could not accept the situation.

It felt like I was seeing a fantasy. She may have made an error with her crystal ball.

But the truth did not change.

Claire, Wade, and I don’t know why, but Olivia is suddenly full of magic.

There was no trace of sin in any of them. The color of the wine did not change at all.

‘I can’t feel any change in the movement of the demonic energy.’

The change in color may be hidden. Depending on the light or other objects, you may not be able to feel it.

However, the reagent was a reagent that reacted to hidden sin and demonic energy, and the movement of magical power had to be felt, even if only slightly.

None of the familiars felt it in any of the devices she installed in her banquet hall.

I had to admit it. Wade did not commit any crime.

“Seeing you embarrassed, I feel relieved… But what should I do now, Katharine?”

Wilhelm mocked Catherine. Normally, it would have been a provocation that she would have laughed off, but she didn’t even have the luxury of time for that with Katharine.

‘…I don’t know.’

Katharine still had not seen the end of her power.

But she thought that once this operation was over, she would at least be able to ‘classify’ that power. She believed that she could find out through which sin she had made a deal with the devil.

A warlock is also basically a wizard. The more they prepare for the enemy, the stronger they become exponentially.

In normal circumstances, there would be no need to know that, but if it was the ‘warlock who defeated the princess’, there was a need to be on guard.

He thought he could find at least some clues by simply classifying the sins he committed to the devil into the seven deadly sins.

But, nothing came out.

“Well, isn’t the sin offered directly a trivial one? It’s not that unusual.”

“Do you not know how a warlock gains power? If he does not offer up sins, there is no way he can exert such great power-“

“You don’t know that. That male prostitute might have caught up with the devil.”

“…!”

The old man, those were not words that a snarky old man from the Inquisition could have uttered.

However, Katharine was able to find a faint clue.

‘If you become strong and look like a dark priest, not an ordinary warlock-‘

That was a pretty convincing hypothesis. Considering the trajectory and speed with which he became stronger, it was more reasonable to think that he did not become stronger through ordinary contracts and sins.

‘During the Behemoth incident, Claire became a dark priest without any warning…’

If Wade is close to a high-ranking devil ‘to the point of turning an ordinary girl into a dark priest.’

‘If that’s the minimum, you’re a lover. No… It could be the devil himself.’

Terrible thoughts passed through her head. She wasn’t sure if she was fighting a human or something else.

However, I could not think of this as great progress. There were a lot of problems right away.

“So, what are you going to do? After saying it so confidently, are you going to appeal, ‘Anyway, Wade is a bad guy?'”

“Give me a moment…”

Before Katarin finished speaking, an elf opened her mouth.

“What are you worried about?”

He was wearing a black hood turned inside out. At first glance, the skin color of the hand and lower body was as black as pitch black.

‘Dark Elf…’

Katharine bit her lip.

“In the first place, wasn’t it okay to just kill them without considering the circumstances?”

“Carbossa…”

He was the second collaborator assigned by Kazot. He was an executive-level person like Wilhelm, and was a strong warlock.

Compared to Katarin, her ‘quality of sin’ itself was not high, but she was not a clumsy warlock who could be unilaterally suppressed.

If she was well prepared and gave her opponent a reason to be afraid, Katharine could win, but if she did not, she was a woman who could not guarantee victory or defeat.

Besides, she is an elf.

Katarin knew well how strong the ‘unspecial elf’ was. If she was a dark elf who accepted the power of darkness, she would be stronger than him, not weak.

“If there is a solution, open your mouth, but if there is no solution, close your disgusting mouth.”

Wilhelm glared at Carbossa with a frown.

“Wasn’t it enough to arbitrarily send assassins to raise his guard?”

“It was just a prank. Well, it seemed like a prank that would work.”

“Failures talk a lot.”

“That’s not a failure. It’s a success. Because we saw how much time he spent killing that… Scum assassin.”

“…”

Wilhelm glared at the dark elf as if he wanted to kill him.

He is a Heresy Questioner. It hates all those who are outside the hand of the Lord.

A person who did not even like the elves’ faith in the world tree had no way of looking kindly on someone who stepped into the darkness.

If he had been known to the public, if he had been the person he was before joining Kazot, he would not have even attempted to have a conversation in the first place.

“You can just kill him. It’s not that difficult, right? Why are you trying to go through so much trouble?”

“What a nonsense! This is justice, not your clumsy slaughter! He must admit all his sins and then be burned at the stake!”

“Let’s kill it first and think about it. After that, you can decide whether to burn the body or boil it and eat it.”

Carbossa glared at Katharine with a cold smile.

“I will do it. No, I already did it.”

“What do you mean by that?”

Katharine felt an eerie feeling for some reason as Carbossa looked at her.

She couldn’t tell her intuition was lying. Clearly, that dark elf is hostile to her more than necessary.

But what Katarin had to worry about now was the success of her plan, not Carbossa’s hostility.

“Well, it’s none of my business to know what crimes they committed in the past. All they have to do is commit a crime now. A big one. Enough to kill hundreds of people.”

Of course, there is no way Wade and his party, who were just invited and enjoying the festival, would do something like that.

“Are you planning to use radical methods?”

“Of course. Once he’s already dead, who will defend him?”

Katarin frowned.

‘It’s not a method that has never been used, but…’

A method of arbitrarily opening up an incident where ‘the other party may be the culprit depending on the person responsible’ and then quickly suppressing the other party and removing them from power.

“I don’t know how deep his relationship with the princess may be.”

It was a method that could be useful at times, but in order to frame someone in that way, several prerequisites were needed.

You must quickly and surely subdue him and, if possible, kill him. He should not open his mouth and defend himself.

And when he falls, the powers that be should not care about him. After suppressing a few cowards by force, no one should be interested in the truth.

However, Wade had a deep relationship with the princess. There was no one for whom that method would work.

“What do you think? It’s already clear that those friends will commit crimes.”

“Yes?”

“I told you. I already did it.”

Carbossa’s smile, vaguely visible from under the hood, contained endless eeriness.

The color of the wine that Kelin was holding changed.

‘…’

At first I thought it was a mistake. However, she could see that her eyes were shaking.

For now, I drank alcohol without any problem. Every time she drank alcohol the second or third time, her wine clearly changed.

Although it was faint, there were traces of magical power moving.

“…Wade.”

With her eyes trembling, Kellyn opened her mouth.

“Wait a minute. I’m thinking about it, so please wait.”

I mobilized all my knowledge and derived the correct answer that could be derived from this small change.

‘I found it…’

A reagent that reveals sin. It’s an item from the Heresy Inquisition.

It wouldn’t be difficult to obtain a small amount of reagent if you were Kazot, but unless you were related to the interrogation, there was no reason to use it.

‘Wilhelm. Just one for now.’

This is a pretty good appointment. Since I was a warlock, I brought in a paladin from the Inquisition.

‘And one more thing. This… Katharine is involved.’

From noble mtl dot com

It seemed that Kelin’s liquor was not the only one contained in the reagent. It wasn’t like the waiter was giving ‘special treatment’ to Kellyn and me.

Planning such a bold plot in the social world was clearly Catherine’s style.

‘I think there’s one more… But I found two.’

Neither of them are people who would send an assassin to kill me. By the method of elimination, the executive who sent the assassin would be the last executive.

‘Katharin has already become an executive of Kazot… The motive in this story is weak and there is no basis. There’s not enough time…’

Additional executives may have been brought in, but at the bare minimum, it seemed like two executives and Katharine were participating in this plan.

‘I guess they’re trying to reveal my sins.’

The whole of Córdoba becoming my enemy causes a completely different level of chaos than if ‘some Kazot members stage a terrorist attack’ and try to kill me.

I would have had to kill Cordoba’s soldiers to survive, and they would have used the chaos as a fuse to cause destruction.

‘It’s not bad.’

There was a way to deal with it.

“Kellin.”

“…Okay.”

She can become a variable.

“Can you follow me for a moment?”

I felt like I had found the answer.
