Episode 8 – Activities of the F-Class Screw-Up –

“Argggggggggggggghhhhh!!!!”

He screamed in a horrifying pain.

It was terribly painful.

In hindsight, it was a crazy act to cut off one’s own arm and create an opening.

Yet, he did not regret that choice.

Because he had won.

Because he had won the ultimate victory in his duel with Maximilian Wilhelm, the martial arts professor of ‘A’ Class.

Although his entire body was covered in wounds,

Even though Maximilian had not wielded his full strength, let alone a weapon,

Even though one of his arms was cut off, it was fine.

Because, had it been an actual combat, he would have been the one who survived.

‘In the end, I managed to do it without awakening my aura.’

He was weaker than the professor.

Even if he could reach the same stage as the professor.

The gap between those who have reached the aura master stage, the stage where one can awaken one’s aura, is so significant that it is as though there is another stage in between.

In addition, in this WFS, it is possible to first learn aura reinforcement and later gain the ability to control the aura.

Since in the case of using aura, learning to control them is more accurate than reaching a stage, and appears as such.

Aura control, aura rumbling, aura reinforcement, the difficulty of acquiring these increases in this order, and they are usually learnt in this sequence.

Due to these features, even if you have reached a higher stage, you have to increase your proficiency separately.

Even if you are an aura master, the proficiency of your aura reinforcement could be worse than your aura control.

“For now, go to the sickbay and get cured by the priest. But then again, considering you can’t go there on your own.”

Professor Maximilian Wilhelm issued the optimal order as soon as the duel was over.

“Elijah Student, can you go to the sickbay and fetch a priest? It would be better to summon a priest here.”

“Understood.”

Elijah, the student, vanished in an instant following Maximilian’s instruction.

But I couldn’t care less where she disappeared to.

Because it required a lot of effort even to stand, and I crumbled and fell down.

‘No matter what it takes, I will survive in ‘A’ Class. The more power I gain, the greater the political pressure from my reckless actions will become. And I will hide the fact that I possess the aura awakening skill at all costs.’

He engraved such thoughts deeply in his heart and took a brief nap until the priest arrived to heal him.

Thunk-

Clang-

From within the non-visible circumstances, the loud noise ticks at my ears.

“Ughhhhh.”

“Hya Chia!”

The fighting sounds hasten me to wake quickly from sleep.

“Ugghh.”

I open my eyes with a groan and lift my head to assess the situation.

Next to me, an aged clergyman is emitting a light from his fingertips, treating my body.

The flesh is reattaching, and the colorless skin is recovering its vitality.

The blood returns to where it should be.

It seems like the brutal scene is censored with the passing of a white light, and it begins to look normal again.

Upon witnessing such a mystical scene, realizing that I have awakened, the clergy said advised me.

“I recommend that you abstain from fighting which can damage you for a while, brother. The semi-pairing test, and this time.

Already, you have lost a significant amount of blood due to two incidences of heavy bleeding.

The power of sanctity is restoration, not creation. It cannot retrieve blood that has already seeped to the bottom.”

I am already aware of this information. Specifically, it’s a phenomenon that occurs when the blood and my body are too far apart.

Hence if I literally pour sacred power, that condition is resolved.

Of course, as long as it is not a dangerous situation, the body automatically generates blood, so this is not particularly necessary.

“During this duel, I was able to recover my arm in the middle, but in real combat, if you can’t recover your arm in the middle… if you’re unlucky, you might have to live with a disability, so please don’t act recklessly.”

The old cleric seemed worried about me speaking as such. It is because if I am not careful, I could die.

To somewhat alleviate his anxiety, I opened my mouth.

“Don’t worry. If it really seems like I’m going to die, I will apply a different method.”

It’s a body that has already died once.

I won’t just die that easily.

“It’s a relief if you think that way…”

The elderly cleric left those words behind and returned to his post.

So that if a wounded or carried disciple comes, they can be treated immediately.

On the arena, other disciples were engaged in a duel.

A considerable amount of time seemed to have passed and many of the disciples were resting.

With a spirited sound of Thwik–, another disciple duel ended.

And Maximilian indicated the winner and the loser and pair up the new duel.

“Eliya Adonis disciple. And Sylvia Lenin. The two of you, step forward.”

As the names of the two were announced, the atmosphere in the arena heated up.

“Finally!”

“Hey, who do you think will win?”

“I am on the top side.”

The two girls, Eliya and Sylvia, step forward to the cheers of group A’s disciples.

Two individuals stood in their places, each armed with a wooden sword and a staff.

They were two of the three beauties I had seen before.

The girl named Elia possessed the typical Anglo-Saxon stereotype with long blond hair and white skin.

The girl named Silvia was a mysterious girl with black hair and red eyes.

‘Red eyes mean she’s an albino. Is she healthy?’

I thought it was a reasonable curiosity, but apart from my reincarnated self, no one showed any interest in Sylvia Rene’s red eyes.

Instead, the rest of the students were interested in the battle between the two girls.

I’m not sure how she can have black hair and red eyes.

“Hey, who do you think will win?”

“Well, judging by their grades, Elia Adonis, who is the top student, is likely to win.”

“Wasn’t Sylvia Rene second?”

“If she’s top, she’s probably better.”

“That’s probably true.”

From the conversation, it seems that the two girls were the top two students.

And since it was a real fight, they were inferring who was superior to each other.

VS games. This is something I used to do a lot in the army.

In the army, we had a big fight over whether Yasuo or Voldemort would win, and in the end, I remember Umbridge, who could use the Chain Abada Kedabra, was determined to be the strongest.

While I was reminiscing about the past, preparations for the battle were slowly being made.

With the call of Professor Maximilian, the battle began.

“Then, the duel… begins!”

Ching—

As soon as the duel started, Elia began charging at an incredible speed.

Her speed was on par with that of Professor Maximilian.

Of course, it goes without saying that the professor wasn’t going all out. Conversely, this means that a first-year student at the academy has reached the level of a lazy professor, which is quite remarkable.

Even I can’t do that.

However, Sylvia Rene, too, didn’t earn her second-place standing easily, like my former army squad leader.

As Elia approached, she seemed to have been waiting, and suddenly she opened her mouth and pulled out a magic circle that was hidden behind her.

“Glacies Aetas (Ice Age)”

Along with her words, the ground began to freeze in a cone shape around Sylvia Rene.

At the end of it was Elia Adonis.

Magic users are weak in close combat, so jumping away before becoming a target was a good move, but using cold in such a way is disadvantageous to a knight.

Since you need space to exert strength, if everything freezes, you won’t be able to escape at all.

If she continues to charge like this, she will eventually freeze before she can stop due to inertia. Then what should she do?

Elia Adonis’ choice was a head-on collision.

Pang—

She jumped high before her foot touched the freezing ground, pulled out her aura, and ‘kicked’ the air.

Air stepping, reproducing in reality a maneuver found in martial arts novels.

Air also has mass, so it is possible to support oneself with aura.

I can’t use it due to air’s fluidity. The name ‘top student’ certainly lives up to its reputation.

Eliya soared towards Silvia, her feet barely touching the ground, and immediately swung her sword.

The aura-enveloped blade surged towards Silvia with an overwhelming energy.

Boom.

However, Silvia was one of the top magicians among the new entrants. She wouldn’t be unprepared for such an attack.

Using the basic aura technique – aura expulsion, Silvia slid as if she was skating on ice.

Although she couldn’t use aura enhancement, she reduced the physical strain by utilizing the low-friction conditions of the ice.

After Silvia disappeared, only the cold air remained.

Eventually, Eliya was directly exposed to this cold, and her body slowly began to freeze.

But Eliya too, was one of the strongest knights among her peers. Before she completely froze, she swung her sword into the void, releasing her sword energy.

And with that, she threw her sword into the fray.

Swoosh.

The extensive sword energy scratched the ground beneath.

And a little higher, the aura-wrapped sword flew.

The area affected by the sword energy was wide, while the sword affected a narrower zone.

If the impact couldn’t be endured, the only option was to jump higher. That is, if one could jump.

“Procella (Gale)”

Thankfully, Silvia Lenen had a way to jump higher without aura enhancement. With the help of wind magic, she floated temporarily in the air.

But magic is a force that influences the world and transforms the user.

The effect wasn’t limited to Silvia Lenen.

Whoosh.

A whirlwind rotated around a central point, moving various objects and allowing Silvia Lenen to float for a moment in the air.

However, it did the same for the sword that Eliya Adonis had thrown.

The sword she pitched caught the wind and headed straight towards her.

The Vice-chairman, startled, immediately sent a simple shockwave to defuse the sword.

Unfortunately, in the meantime, the outcome was decided.

Thud.

The once-freezing Eliya had simply body-slammed from where she had thrown her sword.

From her first appearance, the strength of Eliya Adonis was her incredible speed. In the blink of an eye, Eliya managed to land a successful hit.

Eventually, Silvia was struck by Eliya, she plunged to the ground and was held by the still unfrozen left hand of Eliya.

The outcome was clear. Silvia Lenen, a magician who always made rational judgments, admitted defeat.

“I admit my defeat.”

“Yeesss!!! I won!!!!”

That’s how the fight between the chairman and vice-chairman ultimately ended; with the chairman’s victory.

Eliya Adonis was ordinarily pleased like a seventeen-year-old girl.

The surrounding audience, however, cheered even louder.

“Wowww!!!”

“Did you see the sword throw!? Eventually, it created a gap and she won!”

From noble mtl dot com

“The chairman is clearly stronger.”

“Certainly Eliya demonstrated an intense battle. But Silvia was not lacking either. Both showed exceptional skill.”

“To think all of this is the result of limiting abilities since they’re both in the big league…!”

And the students of Class A were cheering louder than when I had won against the professor.

Of course, I had passed out so I don’t know if they were cheering, but in my memory, they were louder.

As soon as the bout was over, the healers approached the two fighters. Both sides had sustained some injuries, so the healers took them into the infirmary.

Then a huge doll appeared behind me.

“So, what do you think?”

Professor Maximilian asked me.

“About the bout?”

“Yes. Do you believe that both sides made their best choice?”

“Not their best, no.”

Eliyah’s move to throw her wooden sword was too obvious.

It wasn’t merely throwing the sword that was predictable, but the notion that she thought to cause a disruption using the sword was predictable.

Sylvia Renen’s response was also lacking. She ignorantly set up her magic hastily, inviting defeat.

If I had been in her place, I would have iced the ground to get higher in the air instead of levitating with the wind.

Even if the ice broke, the attack would have already finished by then.

“Hoho? Then can you elaborate?”

There’s no need, however, to explain this fact. My grades might be high but they should appear to be forcibly achieved.

Like how I won against Maximilian this time, by tricking him into lowering his guard, to easily get expelled from the school.

If I appear to be a top-tier student, then I may but disregard the political backlash.

The situation is similar to a sports star, not having a good personality, but as long as the talent is great, the person gets a pass.

“Both were virgins, right?”

“Why would you ask that?”

“So what’s your answer?”

“Well, probably, virgins.”

“Then, after disrobing, while the opponent is flustered at such an embarrassing attack, you attack.”

Then I create some more absurd scenarios.

Of course, I only speak this rubbish to create a chance to get expelled.

There’s no guarantee that being a virgin means they will be startled at the sight of a woman’s bare chest in public. But now what I need isn’t logic.

It’s sheer absurdity.

And Maximilian, having heard that nonsense, quickly refuted me.

“I will directly relay this conversation to those two.”

Though they both are formally from noble families, he just said that.

If those two treat my words as a joke, lucky me, but if they see it as s*xual harassment then I might face political restraint.

And that too outside of the academy. That would interfere with my plans.

Conclusion: I must block it.

So, hiding my anxiety, I looked at Maximilian.

Maximilian was smirking and looking at me.

My anxiety was growing at his words.

“Pffft- Did you actually think I meant it?”

His words went on.

“One who is in a state of enlightenment can sense very detailed sensations. They can even see vibrations that are usually invisible.”

I couldn’t respond to Maximilian’s words.

Because…

“So, did you enjoy playing the fool?”

It was because he had discovered that I was deliberately acting the fool.

Because I couldn’t control all my nonverbal actions, it was assumed I was caught lying.

But on reflection, it seemed a little different.

So what changes?

What difference does it make if he knows I’m pretending to be a fool?

The dean is going to expel me for some reason anyway.

In the end, it doesn’t matter.

It just increases the likelihood that Maximilian won’t give up on me.

That’s why I whispered to him.

“You’ll have no choice but to expel me.”

“I’ll make you change your mind.”

Not that it matters. I will leave the academy.

Even if I remain an F-ranked fool. That’s the only way I know.

“Screw it.”

The future is uncertain, but at least I know a secured future. I just intend to follow that path.
