41 – Breaking the Illusion-12

“Ugh…”

Florence entered the training room with trembling eyes.

The training ground in the morning was quiet. Some gladiators started training, but most never even came here.

She looked at the other gladiators. Evan hasn’t come in here yet.

“That, maybe…”

“Oh, are you looking for Evan? He hasn’t come yet.”

Before she could get her word out, another gladiator answered Florence’s question.

“That, is that so. Then, by any chance, where is he…”

“If you wait, they will come. The kids who go to the Colosseum in the morning will be in the dining room now because mealtime is getting late.”

Florence lightly bowed her head in gratitude, then cautiously lifted his favorite dumbbell.

“Sure…”

With her unladylike moan, she strained her arms, holding dumbbells in each hand.

Heavy. It had a weight that was too much for her strength to bear.

Her right hand, her sword-wielding hand, was able to move a dumbbell, but her left hand trembled just by holding it.

Since she usually trained by lifting something like this, it was only natural that her rapier would go out and fall at once.

“This… Every day…”

Deep. With just one lift of her dumbbell, she realized how serious Evan was about sword fighting.

I couldn’t understand why you lifted this so easily. But she didn’t want to make a fuss about training by lifting weights lighter than men’s dumbbells.

Florence pulled up her remaining strength and somehow grabbed the dumbbell.

“Shut up…”

While she was training, a group of gladiators entered the training ground with a loud voice.

“You look tired today, Evan. Aren’t you overexerting yourself?”

“No, it’s just because I drank too much. Seriously, I’m going to wear armor and run around within this month.”

“Did you mean that seriously? Don’t overdo it, just rest.”

From noble mtl dot com

“I can’t get used to it. If I only wear armor, I just don’t want to move my legs. I need to get used to it at least a little.”

The gladiators surrounding Evan were chatting as they returned from eating together.

“The league is starting soon. You might have to go to a sword fight every few days, but physical strength management is also important.”

“I see…”

“There are some extreme guys who don’t come to the training ground at all once the season starts. Well, you don’t have to do that… But anyway, you have to be careful.”

Florence looked at the scene with her envious face.

It was not easy to see the face of a man who genuinely smiles, no matter how much money he spends and how much interest and love women pour into him.

Perhaps, she may be her illusion. Because like the woman over there, she’s never been a ‘woman who can follow a man around and stick with him’.

She might have looked like that if she had been a bit more capable and lucky enough to have gotten into the crowd led by men.

“Then, shall we begin…”

The gladiators, who laughed amicably, dispersed and grabbed training equipment.

“…Well.”

“Ah.”

She made eye contact with him. Florence hurriedly laid her eyes on her.

I didn’t think Evan was that kind of person, but it was a well-known rumor that a man would be guilty of a ‘feeling-feeling woman”s gaze.

Florence could not regard it as a mere ghost story.

Among the people she knew, noblewomen who had offended men by her clumsy status would be arrested for casting an insidious gaze.

As long as the man was determined, lying, and not being framed, he was not punished severely. However, Florence had to roll her eyes down just because her gaze could make him feel bad.

However, Evan strode towards Florence. Sensing his approach by the sound of her footsteps, she could not hide her fear.

‘Awesome…’

I am afraid. Florence, she was afraid of her man standing in front of her.

The self-confidence that had risen up disappeared like melting snow the moment our eyes met.

‘If I don’t kick you out, yea, just let me stay here…’

She knew Evan didn’t have that authority. Because he was also a gladiator.

However, that is only a theoretical delusion.

Seriously, if he hates Florence because of the bar meeting, he can put pressure on her just by talking to Daisy.

‘Please…’

Florence closed her eyes and waited for his disposition, but he passed her naturally and grabbed her other dumbbell.

“Ah.”

Florence let out a sigh of relief.

Maybe, he just doesn’t have that much interest in her. She said she drank a lot, so he might have been forgotten.

He alternated lifting several of his dumbbells, looking for the optimal weight.

“…Ah!”

Florence remembered that she was holding her dumbbells, which he used to use in her usual way.

“Bar, I’ll give it to you right away!”

“Wasn’t it… Huh? You don’t have to give it to me.”

He still seemed to have a hard time dealing with Florence, but he was determined and not hostile. She let out a sigh of relief.

“Cow, it seems too heavy for a girl!”

“Then… Thank you.”

He nodded his head for a second, then casually took the dumbbell and started exercising.

Florence, who was far away, was looking at the figure again as he lazily exercised.

Like that, time has passed.

Being able to see a man this close was a rare opportunity. He could not waste a moment.

So she could tell that he was serious.

The first time he heard dumbbells, he was puzzled. In fact, he wondered if he had the qualities of a warrior who would make his name widely known.

If there is someone who trains casually for hours with dumbbells like this, it must be an amazing person.

However, the reality was a little different.

He wasn’t casually lifting dumbbells and continuing training.

He was struggling, painfully, narrowly picking up the dumbbells and lifting them.

It wasn’t just dumbbells. He was definitely the one with overwhelming strength for a man, even among other gladiators, but he didn’t have an easy job just because he was him.

“Ah…”

Florence, at some point, lost her mind and looked at the sight.

I didn’t expect it to be like this. For a man like this, it was only natural that he would not succumb to a minor wound.

I didn’t want to ask why. In fact, he didn’t even have the courage to ask for water. I could tell by looking at his attitude of casually training and the eyes of the other gladiators who looked at it without any inspiration.

To him, sword fighting is life. He was so diligent and seasoned that it was hard to believe that he had just started sword fighting.

Florence bit her lip. I’m sorry, but Daisy was right.

If I hadn’t observed him deeply for such a long time, I wouldn’t have realized what a peculiar man he was.

And Florence, who realized that, was able to come to a conclusion that he might have been a little afraid of.

‘What can I do for him?’

Even if it was an ordinary gift or a high-quality meal, it didn’t seem like he would be satisfied.

‘Then… Me?’

Numerous factors that made Florence think of herself as superior to other women.

Status, money, grace and class, business skills and social skills.

Among them, are there any elements that he would be attracted to?

Florence felt the confidence that had been holding her back shattered.

It’s nothing special. Not superior

Among these countless gladiators, we have to wait and wait for only his choice.

She couldn’t even come to her senses to pretend to exercise anymore, she just looked at Evan with her blank face.

As he finished his upper body workout and moved on to the next one, Florence realized that this was his last chance.

If you don’t ask now, he won’t give you an answer forever.

“I… Mr. Evan!”

“Hmm?”

Fortunately, there was no anger in his eyes.

“…”

Florence paused for a moment as she sorted out her questions.

If she was one of these countless people, she was hopeless. I had to give up.

She wished she had cut it off with his mouth, at least to be sure of it.

He has no boundaries. If he were other guys he would feel insecure just walking around in the same place as an ‘unreliable’ woman.

Even if she stopped here and now, she would be able to enjoy this level of happiness. The joy of training in the same place as men and eating in the same place.

But that’s all. Florence will never be special in life.

That’s why I wanted to ask.

“Why?”

But when she saw his face, he couldn’t help but open his mouth.

“I’m really sorry about what happened yesterday…”

“Well, with that much. At that time, I was a little excited too.”

However, he did not muster up the courage to simply apologize. Taking a deep breath, Florence struggled to put the main point in his mouth.

“But, that… Sword fighting. Is it that valuable?”

Florence, who had imagined Evan’s angry face, closed his eyes tightly and trembled.
