Chapter 272: Judgement of Sirius

The time has quickly come to the last days of the Christmas holiday.

This morning, Harry and Sirius left the house early in the Black House at No. 12 Grimmauld Place.

This day is the day of the retrial of Sirius and Pettigrew, which is why the two seem so eager.

Because after this trial, the result has been decided like going through the motions, Sirius can officially get rid of the identity of the criminal, and live under the sun from now on.

At that time, instead of living with the Dursleys every summer, Harry could move to the old Black House and live happily with his godfather.

As Harry's godfather, Sirius can be said to be the only relative Harry in this world cares about him.

A three-storey, bright-purple bus stopped in some bleak side street in London.

Harry was no stranger to the dilapidated red phone booth on the side of the road.

Because he had only been here a few months ago, when he was with a large family of Weasleys, attending George and Fred and their Merlin Medal.

However, the phone booth this time had some changes from the last time he came.

The two stood in the phone booth, looking so crowded that Harry was even squeezed to the point of sticking to the phone device.

When they came before, the phone booth had been cast with the Unmarked Stretching Charm, and even if a dozen or twenty people stood in it, it looked quite spacious.

But that was a face project specially created by the Ministry of Magic for the award ceremony.

Otherwise, with the ability of the phone booth to transport only two people into the Ministry of Magic at one time, the family members of the medal recipients and those who walked through the visitor passage would have to stand on the street outside against the scorching August sun, ranking fifth in the line. It takes six minutes for the team to get down to the Ministry of Magic below.

Is this how the British Ministry of Magic treats guests?

If you don't get sprayed with blood, there will be ghosts.

Soon, the door of the phone booth opened again, and Harry and Sirius were standing at the end of a long, resplendent hall with a dark wooden floor that was polished to a bright finish.

The peacock blue ceiling is studded with gleaming gold symbols like a giant high-altitude bulletin board.

The walls on all four sides are clad in dark wood planks, and many gilded fireplaces are embedded in the planks.

After a series of checks, Harry and Sirius had to follow the crowd into a nearby hall full of elevators.

With the rattling sound of the chain drive, an elevator slowly descended in front of them.

The golden gate slid open gently, and Harry and Sirius stepped into the elevator.

Where they are now is the main hall of the Ministry of Magic, on the eighth floor below.

Further down, there are only two floors, the ninth floor where the Department of Mysteries is located and the tenth floor where the courtroom is located.

Although there are many people coming and going at the Ministry of Magic, there are not many people going to these two floors, so there are only two people in the elevator, Harry and Sirius.

Just as the elevator's fence door was about to close, a hurrying figure squeezed into the elevator.

"Mr. Weasley." Harry nodded at the man when he saw the red hair on the man's head.

"Oh, Harry."

Suddenly hearing Harry's voice, Arthur Weasley looked surprised.

"How will you be here?"

Until he saw Sirius next to Harry, Mr. Weasley patted his head, "I forgot, today is the day of judgment."

"Hello, Arthur."

Sirius took the initiative to extend his hand to Mr. Weasley, "Thank you for taking care of Harry."

After the chat was over, Mr. Weasley noticed that the elevator was going down instead of up.

His office is on the second floor of the Ministry of Magic, which is the second basement, and should go up.

The golden gate of the elevator was closed, and Mr. Weasley, who had taken the wrong elevator, was obviously unable to get down halfway.

As the elevator slowly stopped, a woman's indifferent voice also sounded in the elevator, "The ninth floor, the Department of Mysterious Affairs."

The tenth floor of the Ministry of Magic cannot be directly reached by elevator. You have to take the elevator to the ninth floor and walk down a corridor.

The road was a bit winding, and Harry and Sirius, who were unfamiliar with each other, estimated that it would take a while to find the courtroom.

Mr. Weasley's work was not busy, so he simply took Harry and Sirius to the tenth floor.

After walking for a few minutes, several people appeared in a corridor.

This hallway is decorated in exactly the same style as the hallways in Hogwarts that lead to the old bat crypt:

Rough stone walls with torches in brackets. The doors they passed here were heavy wooden doors with iron latches and keyholes embedded in them.

The place where Sirius is about to stand trial is the first courtroom.

The higher the label of the courtroom, the more vicious the criminals tried. The first courtroom was basically used to try those Death Eaters who followed Voldemort back then.

The decoration style of the courtroom is similar to that of the corridor outside, and it is made of black stones.

In the center of the room are two armchairs with chains on their armrests.

Both chairs were empty and no one was sitting.

In front of the chairs where the two prisoners are sitting, there are rows of gradually raised seats.

There were already a lot of people sitting on the seats.

The wizards sitting in the front row were all wearing purple robes, with a delicate silver letter "w" embroidered on their left chest.

Behind them, there are some invited audience members, and Harry will join them later.

Faced with so many gazes, Harry was so nervous that his palms were sweating even though he wasn't the one waiting to be tried.

Seeing the nervousness in his godson's heart, Sirius patted Harry on the shoulder, "Don't worry, it'll be alright."

After speaking, he smiled and walked generously to the trial chair in the center of the room and sat down.

Seeing that the chains didn't bind Sirius, Harry was relieved.

After Harry took his seat in the back row, the two Aurors walked in with Peter Pettigrew who looked horrified.

Different from the treatment of Sirius, as soon as Peter Pettigrew was pressed onto the chair, the iron chains on the armrests on both sides automatically wrapped around Peter Pettigrew's body, tying him to death.

"The interrogators are here~www.NovelMTL.com~" Fudge said in a bell-like voice, "Let's get started. "

At this time, the whispering in the courtroom also stopped.

"The trial on January 8 will re-examine the case of Sirius Black's indirect death of the Potters by taking refuge in Mysterious Man, and violating secrecy laws by releasing a spell in a Muggle neighborhood to kill thirteen Muggles."

"Interrogators: Minister of Magic Cornelius Oswald Fudge; Director of Magical Law Enforcement Division Amelia Susan Burns..."

After rambling over the long list of interrogators, Fudge read the name of the person being interrogated, as well as the crucial witness, Albus Dumbledore.

The little unease on Harry's face vanished as he heard the witness's name.

In a sentence Kyle said before, that is - the presiding judge, the judge, the jury, the witnesses, all the units, all my people, how can you fight me?

Just for Dumbledore to attend this point as a witness, this time, Sirius' case is almost certain.
