Chapter 242 Friends

"I think it's close to bedtime now," Mrs Weasley yawned.

"It's still early, Molly," said Sirius, pushing away the empty saucer and looking back at Harry. "You know, I'm surprised by you. I think the first thing you do when you get here is start asking questions about Voldemort."

The mood of the room changed rapidly with Harry's talk and the mention of dementors. If a few seconds ago it was sleepily relaxed, now it is alert, even tense.

At the mention of Voldemort's name, people left the table and walked around in nervous fear. Lupine was about to sip a glass of fine wine, but now slowly lowered his goblet, looking alert.

"I did!" Harry said angrily. "I asked Ron and Hermione, but they said the instructions didn't allow them to, so-"

"No, no, no, I'm not just asking this." Sirius Black shook his head, "I mean, what do you think of Chronos?"

"What?" Harry tapped his ears.

"Chronus, Chronus Slughorn."

"What does this have to do with him?"

"I had to make sure he wouldn't go over to Voldemort's side. Because, Snape, he..."

"Enough, Sirius Black," said Mrs. Weasley. "He's too young. He shouldn't have known so much." She sat in her chair upright against the latch, her arms clenched in fists, without any sign of sleepiness.

"Since when does someone have to ask questions within the Phoenix Order?" Sirius asked. "Harry was trapped in that Muggle house for a month. He has a right to know what happened." What's up-"

"Can you tell me in detail what Chronos and you experienced at the cemetery that night?" Sirius Black's tone was soft but with a hint of unquestionable tone.

Harry closed his eyes, he really didn't want to think about Voldemort's face if he could.

"Voldemort..." Harry swallowed, "he is inviting... Chronus to join them."

"Oh, no!" Hermione covered her face in horror.

Sirius Black slapped his hands and leaned back on the chair, with a look of "Look, I told you!" on his face.

"But Chronos didn't agree, and even led me out from Voldemort's pursuit." Harry continued.

"It's not my fault that you weren't informed of the details of the order's actions," said Sirius calmly, "that was your parents' decision. But on the other hand Harry, Chronos, he...  "

"It's not your turn to decide what's in Harry's interest!" said Mrs. Weasley sharply. There was a look of danger on her usually friendly face. "I suppose you haven't forgotten what Dumbledore said?"

"Which passage are you referring to?" Sirius asked politely, but the air was filled with the tension of a man himself ready to fight

"The part about not telling Harry more than he needs to know," said Mrs. Weasley, emphatically emphasizing the last three words.

Ron, Hermione, Fred, and George turned their heads between Sirius and Mrs. Weasley as if they were watching a tennis match. Ginny was kneeling on top of a pile of discarded honey cubes, her mouth slightly open, watching the conversation. Lupine's eyes were fixed on Sirius.

"I'm not going to tell Harry more than he needs to know, Molly," said Sirius. "But he's the one who saw Voldemort's return." (Again, a collective shudder around the table at the name) "He's more entitled than most of us to know—"

"And you also heard,

Chronos is a man who can contend against Voldemort except for Dumbledore. "

"He's not a member of the Phoenix Order!" said Mrs. Weasley. "He's only fifteen, and—"

"And he's solved as many problems as most members of the Order," said Sirius, "and more than some."

"Nobody's denying what he's done!" Mrs Weasley's voice rose, her fists shaking on the arm of her chair. "But he's still just—"

"He's not a child!" said Sirius impatiently. "Voldemort is courting him, he is looking for his army. His fame is enough to make him unique, and the most important thing is that he is a Slytherin. We cannot deny that he may become the next Dark Lord .”

"Black!" Professor Lupine stopped his best friend with an ugly face.

"Although I don't think Chronos is a monster like the Mysterious Man," Professor Lupine said, "but Chronos is only a fifteen-year-old kid. Voldemort is best at demagoguery."

"Harry, before that time in the cemetery, Chronos may have seen the You-Know-Who." Professor Lupine said, looking into Harry's eyes.

"What?" Harry's eyes widened, full of disbelief.

"Don't doubt, this is what Dumbledore told us." Professor Lupine said in a low voice.

"Then what does Professor Dumbledore mean? Let us monitor Chronos?" Harry asked the question in his heart.

"No, it's not." Professor Lupine denied, "Professor Dumbledore meant for you to be friends with Chronos."

"Friend?" Harry's voice changed.

"Yes, they are friends." Professor Lupine repeated what he had just said.

"Dumbledore said that the reason why Tom Riddle became the mysterious man that everyone feared in the future was because he didn't get love in his childhood and when he was studying at Hogwarts."

"In the environment of loneliness and lack of love, he has a cruel and murderous character." Professor Lupine said, "So Dumbledore hopes that you can give Chronos a little more sense of belonging in friendship. So that Kronos will not be seduced by the mysterious man."

Harry looked at the others, but Mr. Weasley didn't speak right away. He took off his glasses and wiped them slowly with his robe. When he carefully put his glasses back on the bridge of his nose, he finally answered.

"Dumbledore knows that the situation has changed, Harry. He accepts that Chronos must have access to certain elements of the Phoenix Order within a certain range, just as he went to see you at your Muggle house before you came to the headquarters. Here you go."
