Dungeon Master Makeup Money

Lesson 11: The Lord of Winter

The next afternoon.

I was visiting the Adventurer Guild with Ira.

"Sylvia, you were so uptight."

"The pork has been hunted so much, it's just going to be ready down there today."

He was delighted to show my mother the prey he had harvested during last night.

There was no harvest until the day before, and I didn't think I'd be hunting this much in just one day, so I'm not ready and Sylvia and Olivia, my mother and I have been working on cooking since this morning.

Melissa then also took the three of us to a business meeting on the meat obtained to her mother's home, the merchant house, to confirm our Lord's plans.

Somehow I got an appointment and we'll see each other the day after tomorrow.

At that time, Chris will also be taken to meet with his grandfather.

After finishing the discussion, Melissa went to help her equally busy parents.

So, after all the errands, the reason I'm here at the Adventurer Alliance was to see the request form. However, I do not intend to take the request.

"Normally in winter, there's less material available, less requests to adventurers themselves, but in this city, you usually have requests."

"The reason is simple. Because there's a labyrinth."

The labyrinth environment is always kept constant regardless of the season outside.

Even in winter, when the coat is so cold that it is now indispensable outside, the resort field is warm enough to allow swimwear.

If you go to the labyrinth even in the winter when the grass is dead and the herbs can't be removed, you can get it.

Some new adventurers without money don't have enough money to spend the winter and have to work. Other cities make money by doing chores that they can do in the city, but if they have the strength to get to the eleventh floor of the labyrinth, it's more profitable to collect medicinal herbs.

"This is something I've never been in."

Being an adventurer sooner than me, Ira knew more about winter in a city other than Alistair.

In the winter since he became an adventurer, he was selling materials while defeating demons in the cold to earn roadblocks and keep his body from blunting.

"I'm glad you could relax this year."

If you go to the labyrinth to move your body, you can move it regardless of the cold.

"So why don't you go to the untouched 71st floor?

"That doesn't make sense!?

The underground 71st to 75th floors of the labyrinth were in a snow- and ice-covered hierarchy known as Ice Snow Field.

However, it is unknown to anyone because it has not arrived before.

"What other requests do you have...... hmm?

A visitor came to the Adventurer Guild looking at the request form to see if it was also a winter-specific request.

"That guy..."

Everyone knew that the visitors were soldiers because they were wearing armor paid for by the Alistair family. Plus being in the Adventurer Guild is a lot of adventurers going in and out of the city. For this reason, I have met him face-to-face many times as a city gatekeeper.

Such a gatekeeper rushed to the Adventurer Alliance.

"Is something wrong?

Ira tilts her neck to see how the gatekeeper is doing.

Officials coming from the back of the guild had rushed over to the gatekeeper to give him a glass of water and calm the gatekeeper.

"What is it?

"Guild Master, please. Silver fangs have appeared."

"… please wait a moment"

Now the staff rushes off to the back of the guild.

Then the inside of the guild began to bother.

"Hey, even Silverfang."

"Which one of you got your hands on..."

"Can't you go outside?"

An adventurer was dropping his shoulder, who was also due to go outside today and hunt.

I can't waste even one day considering the rest of the days. But I just didn't do anything to get out of the cold early mornings, and the adventurers waiting for a warmer day were killing time in the guild.

"Silver Fang?"

It's a demon with a name I've never heard of.

'How could Silverfang be in here like this!?

"What's up?

The labyrinth nucleus was in a panic, peeking at us as usual.

"How come you don't know Silverfang?"

'Cause it's a name I've never heard of.

"It's a demon bossing in the basement of the labyrinth on the 75th floor."

"What?"

The boss is overwhelmingly stronger than the demons that come out in that hierarchy.

Specifically, if you only have enough strength to somehow defeat the demons that appear on the 75th basement floor, you can't crusade without working together and fighting in multiple parties.

And the demons that appear on the 75th floor underground have the same strength as the bosses on the upper levels.

Such a powerful boss appeared near the city......?

"Wait a minute."

The Alliance Master came down the stairs as he was talking to the labyrinth nucleus to see what was going on inside the Adventurer Alliance.

Many adventurers in the guild.

At the heart of the guild was a gatekeeper sitting out of tiredness.

"Alliance Master......"

The gatekeeper rises.

"Silver fangs have appeared."

"Yes, I didn't see it first-hand, but an adventurer who came running to escape into the city said he saw Silverfang. A senior ran to tell his lord and told him to inform the Adventurer Alliance."

"Okay. Let me deal with this one."

"Please"

The gatekeeper returns to the gate, where he belongs, when he tells the words to be conveyed.

I can somehow tell from the state in the guild and the reaction of the labyrinth nucleus that it is an emergency.

"I'm sorry, but let me make an urgent request"

Urgent request - a request that is made when something happens that must be done with the help of a powerful demon or many adventurers.

Last time, a request was made to solicit medicinal herbs when the plague occurred.

"This request is for 'Defense if Silverfang strikes Alistair'. Incidentally, you will be forced to participate in adventurers of A-rank or higher and adventurer parties of B-rank or higher."

I hear compulsory participation makes it even noisier in the guild.

"It doesn't seem like we have anything to do with this."

My Adventurer Rank is B.

The rank of the party members was C-ranked by Ira, and Sylvia continued to receive requests for this. Melissa is already D-ranked, too.

Our rank as a party was C-rank because we're partying with them, which is a lower rank than I am.

Therefore, I will not be forced to participate in this emergency request.

But there are things that bother me.

"Mr. Rooty."

"What is it, Mr. Mars?

Our representative, Mr. Rooty, knows he doesn't have to participate because he knows our rank.

"Who is Silver Fang?

"It's a famous story for adventurers, don't you know?

"That's a name I've never heard of."

"Perhaps Mars, you were listening to a lot of things from your predecessors when they were really rookies, because the summer was just beginning, so maybe the topic of silver fangs wasn't on your mind."

That seems to be all the famous demons.

However, I can see from the way Mr. Rooty put it that it is a winter-only demon.

"Silverfang appears out of nowhere in winter and is a tiger-shaped demon that makes the mountain east of Alistair its own territory. It's my first winter, Mars, because I only show up during the winter, and I can't help it if you don't know."

"Winter only tiger......"

These past few days of hunting are reminiscent.

"Is the meat from a demon named Silverfang delicious, too?

"I don't know."

"Don't you see?

"It was decades ago that Silverfang was crusaded in the past. A few years ago, the S-rank party put together more than one to go for the Silver Fang crusade, but the crusade failed. There were no deaths, but one of the parties was disbanded because of the injuries."

The last time it was crusaded was decades ago, no one would know the taste of meat or anything.

S-rank adventurers challenged Silverfang, which has become a kind of legend, but no one has since challenged him because he was devastated.

"From its strength to its periphery, it is a demon called the Lord of Winter"
