347 The Town of Revit

Chrono was pushed out of the hunter gates.

"Stay away from our lands. We can't have Guilds watching us. Cause more trouble and you'll bring a direct problem to the city!" The hunter shouted. They slammed the large gates and Chrono signed. She quickly turned and followed the path for a while.

When she seemed she had walked far enough, she stepped into the forest and wandered for a while. She searched for a spot away from prying eyes and stopped when she found one. The winter snow crunched under her boots as she lifted her ring.

"You'll have to stay in there until I get General Halys' location." She told Keng.

"How long do I have to stay in here? It's scrunching me in every direction." Keng complained.

"Just a little longer." She grabbed her phone and held 3. Her phone instantly dialed a number as she raised the phone to her ear.

"Hello?" Halys answered.

"Hey, General, it's me." Chrono let out a sigh, pushing her hair to the side as she looked around.

"What is it? You weren't supposed to make contact for another few weeks. Did you find anything?" Halys asked.

"I know, sir." Chrono looked at her ring. "I made contact with one of the twins."

"Which one? I thought Lee Seng and Keng went off radar."

"Well, sir… I made contact with Keng…" She paused. "I felt his signature half a mile away from where I was at. He was falling form the sky."

"Is he okay?"

"He's fine, sir. Got into a scuffle with hunters but I dealt with it as peaceful as possible." Chrono shifted in her spot. "Can we meet ASAP?" She could hear Halys sigh. She could imagine him wiping his face with his free hand while he thought.

"Where's your location currently?" Halys asked. Chrono had anticipated he would ask so she sent him her location.

"Just sent it."

"You're twenty-four miles from the city? What were you doing out there?"

"Astro business. I finished it up. Can we meet?" Chrono explained.

"Fine," Halys sighed. "Take the Realm portal and meet me in Revit."

"Yes, sir." The phone hung up and she stuffed her phone into her coat pocket. "You'll get out soon. We're meeting up with the General. You can explain yourself then."

The large amount of Spiritual energy from the Gate greeted Chrono as she came to a stop. She lifted her ring and released Keng. Keng flew out, materializing in his humanoid form and landed on his butt.

Chrono watched Keng stand and brush snow off his butt. She could tell something was off about him. Something was different.

"Come on. Let's walk through it together." Chrono motioned. She started forward and Keng trailed behind her. She didn't mutter the incantation like Lee Seng had. She simply moved through it and Keng hesitantly followed behind her.

The portal warped around him and suddenly he was greeted by the twin Suns in the sky. He shielded his eyes as Chrono simply continued forward, hands in her coat pockets.

"We're in Daros?" Keng asked.

"Yup. Specifically near a small town called Revit, the town where humans and Foxes live." Chrono explained. Her clothes shifted and her coat disappeared.

"Woah, you can shift clothes off?"

"When you train hard enough, you can change materials at will and replace them with what you want them to be."

"Cool." Keng nodded.

"Come on, let's find the General." Chrono motioned. The two started off, following the dirt path that quickly became cobblestone.

"So does Daros have states like Earth?" Keng asked. He had always wondered how Daros worked. It had two suns and looked pretty similar to Earth but the creatures were way different.

"Mmm, there's different regions. Like how Capitol City is in the Midwest region of the United States. We're currently in the Sol region. Revit is one of the towns/villages that are in thei area. It's about three hours by walking pace from this portal." Chrono stopped and turned and pointed behind them.

"If you go that way, it's about a six hour walking pace journey to the main village, Dat'e." Chrono explained. "The Floral Forest is that way. Kinda understand where we are now?" Keng nodded.

"So this portal is the closest one to the main village?"

"Yup. That's why we stop at Revit for anything. We can conduct business there. Flying alleviates most of your traveling problems but Revit is the most like Earth if I had to make comparisons."

"Easier to adapt to if you're coming back and forth." Keng commented.

"Exactly. Well, let's hurry it up. I'll hold you and we can fly to Revit. General Halys should already be there." Chrono told Keng. Keng nodded.

Revit, Sol Region, Daros

Keng had an idea of what a town would be. Lee Seng had memories of towns but he didn't think Revit would be this big. Chrono landed on the ground, letting Keng go as he took in the large walls.

It looked similar to Dat'e, the main village, but really did feel like an earth home. The rustic wood vibes from Dat'e couldn't compare to Revit. Stone, metal, wood were all used here. Bricked roads paved the way into the town.

"Come on. Stay close." Chrono waved. Keng followed Chrono towards the gate. The guards stationed outside the gates all gave small bows to Chrono.

"Ah, Chrono, you're back." A female guard commented. Her and her co-workers' eyes went to Keng. "With a Fox I'm not familiar with. Who's this?"

"Word must've passed by here already." Chrono stopped off to the side, giving a small nod at the soldiers. She raised her hands towards Keng like she was showing him off. "This is the Twin Fox Spirit, Keng."

A collective "ah" came out of the soldiers' mouths.

"One of the new leaders of the Saviors." Chrono finished introducing.

"Ah, he's pretty young." A male soldier observed.

"Three tails already? Soul progression must be going well for you. I heard you're on Earth, how is it?" The female soldier asked.

"Kinda like Revit off at first glance." Keng pointed. "Busier but like Revit." The guards all nodded.

"So why're you two here?" A third smaller soldier asked. "Did something interesting happen? I'm ready for a promotion."

"Not up to Chrono to decide that, Nicolas. Let them be! They must be here to meet General Halys." A second female soldier spoke up.

"Ah, he's already here?" Chrono asked.

"He just came through not too long ago."

"Alright, we'll take our leave then. Continue the good work, y'all." Chrono waved. The soldiers gave another respectful bow to Chrono and Keng before returning to their posts.

Revit bustled with loads of people. Keng could see Fox Spirit children and human-Fox hybrids running around. The place felt lively as they quickly moved through the town.

Chrono led him straight to a normal looking house off to the right of the gate. It was near the wall, about halfway into the town. She opened the door and stepped in, leaving it open for Keng.

"Hello?" Chrono called out. "Anyone here?" Keng stepped inside, shutting the door behind him. The home seems to be lace with power. Lights were on and the quiet hum of a machine moved throughout the house.

"Two unexpected guests." A small Fox Spirit commented. Keng moved through the house where he saw Chrono go through and stopped next to her. A small male Fox Spirit, about 4 feet, sat at the other end of the table. He set his teacup down as Keng realized Halys was sitting next to him.

"That makes four unexpected guests to Revit today." The Fox Spirit observed. "Come, come. Sit."

"Jyu'so, sir!" Chrono bowed. "Why're you here in Revit?" She moved over to sit next to Halys. Jyu'so, frankly, looked like a kid to Keng. A human kid. He wore a cap that let his Fox ears poke from atop of the hat. His blue eyes looked at Keng, who was registering Jyu'so.

Jyu'so wore a variation of the Fox Spirit traditional clothing. It was more modern.

"Come on, child. Come sit. Halys tells me you have a story he wishes to know." Jyu'so motioned. "Plus, I wish to know more about these twins." Keng nodded, giving a bow, before moving to sit on the opposite side of Halys.

"Good to see you, again, Keng." Halys greeted him.

"Good to see you, sir." Keng bowed before pulling his seat and sitting.

"Tea?" Jyu'so asked.

"Sure, sir."

"How about you, Chrono?" Jyu'so poured tea for Keng, the cup moving to him when it was done.

"No thank you, sir." Chrono declined. Jyu'so set the teapot down and nodded.

"Alrighty, then. Mind if I ask some introductory questions, General Halys?*

*Go ahead, Elder Jyu'so." Halys motioned. Jyu'so nodded and turned to face Keng. Keng took a sip of the tea and set it down.

"How is it?" Jyu'so asked.

"What? The tea?" Keng stuttered. Jyu'so nodded.

"How is it?" Jyu'so repeated hsj question. Keng shrugged and took another sip. It tastes fine to him. He set down the drink and shrugged.

"It's okay, I guess." Keng answered.

"Just okay? Hmmm, not anything else?" Jyu'so raised an eyebrow. Keng shook his head.

"Kinda bland but it's good."

"Bland? Hmph!" Jyu'so immediately spun to look at Halys. He pointed at Halys. "You've already done it, haven't you?!?"

"Gave him Jurya root powder? Yes. He and Lee Seng should be immune to the effects by now." Halys chuckled.

"I mean the other part! The Rippersnake Vine!" Jyu'so shouted. Keng felt a weird buzzing in his chest. He looked down and didn't notice anything too out of the ordinary.
