38 – A Red Day

I hid in the woods and shot arrows in case someone wasn’t the demons. Arrows flew randomly and covered the entire village.

They relentlessly shot arrows. Fortunately, the shield was maintained and Chloe and Echina were unharmed.

The gathered villagers ran away when they saw the arrow, but no one escaped successfully. All of the people outside were dead, except for those whose arrows escaped vital points and maintained their lives. The only sane people were those who hadn’t come out of the house.

I barely saved two children. One was the kid Linda and I played with on the first day.

However, the situation was not good.

Both physical strength and holy power were consumed.

“Gran!”

Chloe shouted with a worried look on her face.

I waited for the rain of arrows to stop.

It was better to save the sacred power as much as possible. I couldn’t fight the demon army. Chloe and Echina’s condition wasn’t very good, and there were children next to me who had witnessed the death of their parents.

The last arrow fell to the floor.

I held two children in my arms.

“Getting out of town.”

After leaving the children with Chloe and Echina, I headed to the stable.

The forest is noisy. The sound of fallen leaves and branches being stepped on, and the sound of enemy footsteps could be heard.

Hmm…. I’m in trouble.

Horses were killed by arrows.

Quaak!

An arrow flew to the side of his head and lodged in a wooden pole. I pulled out an arrow and threw it at the devils.

Kaaang!

Soon, they began to appear. They were red-skinned, goblin-like servants of the devil and corrupted humans.

They rushed forward, brandishing their weapons, regardless of whether I threw an arrow or not.

The situation does not change even if the horses die. The need to get out of here has not changed.

I went back to Chloe and Echina.

“Gran-sama…. The devil’s army….”

“The horses are dead.”

From noble mtl dot com

“Then we….”

“You ride the wolves and run away.”

It was the best choice.

I weigh more than Chloe and Echinacea combined. Not everyone could get on top of the Ancient Wolf and escape.

Also, it was much easier to deal with enemies if there were no people I had to protect.

“I…. I can’t go. I’d rather Gran run away. The church needs Gran more than me.”

I pulled out my cane and held it up. The wolf seemed to understand my words and lowered his stance.

“Request support from the saintess. I don’t care, but if you stay here you will surely die.”

“Gran… Still, how can I leave you alone….”

Echina said.

“Chloe, Echina. Get out of here right now All you can do is save these children and go to the saintess.”

Chloe nodded his head.

She also knew that if she stayed here, she would be a hindrance.

“Sorry…. It’s not helpful.”

“You succeeded in exorcism and saved a child. Your work is already done.”

She first picked up her children and placed them on the ancient wolf’s back.

“Gran….”

“Ekina, you did well enough today too. Now I don’t have to rely on buffs.”

She bit her lip and shook her head.

“Go ahead!”

They did their part and left. Of course, in terms of physical age, I am also a student, but the two of them were only students in body and mind.

Today, Chloe fought a demon and saved a child, and Echinacea must have been stabbed in the heart for the first time. The words he said to the two were not empty words.

I couldn’t let these two die here.

Chloe and Echina rode on the wolf.

I couldn’t see them leaving. Enemies came all the way into the village and I had to stop them.

Booooong.

Paaagh!

With one swing of the staff, the heads of those standing in the lead exploded. They hesitated for a moment, then rushed back at me.

“Okay, come on.”

The number of them seemed to outnumber the number of arrows that fell on the village. In the forest, demons poured out endlessly.

“Kaaagh!”

A fallen human jumped off a building and landed on my shoulders.

I grabbed my head and threw it on the floor.

“Kuhhhhh!”

They attacked me from all sides. They swung their swords and fired arrows whether or not their allies were hit.

Thanks to this, there were cases where they killed each other, but their stamina decreased exponentially due to their ignorant tendencies.

At least five heads exploded every time I swung the staff.

Stuck back to avoid being surrounded and fought using the building.

I went into an empty house. Since the entrance was narrow, they gathered in one place.

“Come in.”

He broke the heads of those who came in. They broke windows and entered the building, and some even went up to the second floor and came down.

When they start coming into the house without much thought, I smash their heads with the wall.

The walls of the building collapsed easily because there were no steel bars or hard materials. I went outside and broke down the wall and collapsed the building.

The demons who couldn’t get out from the inside were crushed by the building.

Quaak!

They surrounded me before I knew it and stabbed me from all sides.

They didn’t wait like in the movie. When attacking enemies in the front, they would attack from the side and from behind, and when attacking enemies from behind, those in the front would attack.

My body slowly began to be stained with their blood and mine.

Paaagh!

Befitting a servant of the devil, Akbari was great. However, I was second to none in Akbari.

He swung his staff nonstop.

They kept coming, and I constantly swung my staff.

East, west, south, and north, every place was full of them.

“Bring me the demons!”

Quaak!

The minion poked it right in the hamstring. In an instant, my legs lost strength. I swung my staff to keep them away.

They did not give in and closed the distance. They didn’t care if their heads exploded or their intestines spilled out.

I killed the guy who stabbed my hamstring. The moment I pulled out the blunt sword stuck in my hamstring, I felt a sharp sensation in my neck.

Hot liquid flowed from his throat and dripped down his chest.

I swung my staff and pulled out the arrow stuck in my neck. Fortunately, I was able to recover because I still had divine power, but I couldn’t fully recover.

My body slowly began to lose strength.

There was not much divine power left, and there was little energy left in the body due to blood loss.

All I had left was my mental strength.

I didn’t stop the crimson cane. I looked around and roughly counted the number of enemies.

I counted how much was left, but it didn’t make any sense.

The enemies were as numerous as the trees in this forest, and I had no intention of backing down.

“Yes…. I will dye you red.”

***

Ancient wolves ran without stopping.

Chloe and Echina did not open their mouths.

Chloe took care of the wolf’s wounds and used a buff to increase her stamina.

Echina’s head shook helplessly. Cold sweat ran down his forehead and neck. Both eyes lost their life. The sound of breathing became more and more rapid.

Even getting out of town wasn’t easy. The devil’s army also blocked the entrance to the village. If it had been a horse, not an ancient wolf, he would have been killed.

Ancient wolves moved forward, biting them. Echina swung her sword at either side of her, preventing them from scratching the wolf’s torso.

As the wolves pierced them, they began firing arrows at them.

Eki I was riding at the very back of her. She instinctively wrapped her arms around the child in front of her.

Three arrows shot by fallen humans pierced Echina’s back.

If Echinaga had told Chloe that she had been shot by her arrow, she would have been able to heal after she paused.

But Echinacea didn’t say anything. The more late it is, the more dangerous Gran will be.

I managed to keep my life alive because of Gran’s buff effect, but I literally managed to survive.

Echina caught her clouding her mind.

If she loses her mind, she will fall to the floor, and she will be delayed. By the time she arrived, she had to come to her senses.

‘It hurts….’

I should say fortunately out of misfortune, the terrible pain like burning helped me to come to my senses.

As time passed, her pain dulled and her eyelids grew heavy. The inside of her mouth seemed to be burning like a desert.

It was hot for a while, but now her whole body felt cold as if midwinter had arrived. The world was dark, and there was only darkness ahead. Still, she didn’t lose her mind.

“N-Wolf!”

I ran nonstop and arrived.

When the soldier shouted, the first person to hit the two was a saintess.

Tessia’s face darkened. She couldn’t see who she was supposed to be. Above the wolf was not Gran, but children and two women.

Moreover, the condition of the two women was strange. The priest’s lips and skin were pale, and he looked like he was about to collapse. She was amazed just to be on top of the wolf.

Echina, behind her, had her head bowed, but the moment the she-wolf came to a halt, she fell to the ground.

An arrow was stuck in her back.

All of her clothes were stained red, and the hair where she sat was stained with blood.

Cloa’s eyes widened as she came to the front with Saint Thesia.

“Echina!”

“Please move them to the treatment center immediately! And please summon the soldiers too!”

The saintess urgently exclaimed.
