37 – 37. Fairies (4)

The smell of burning meat spreads around.

A terrible smell emitted by creatures that were alive and pulsating just before, turned to ashes in an instant.

All that remains between the dragon’s fingers are the dark remnants of the existence that was once a life, a fairy.

As the desperate cries of the remaining fairies rang out, I looked down at the pile of ashes I had created and fell into a deep thought.

weird.

Something has changed.

The moment I saw the blonde-haired fairy trying to harm Nynaeve, I couldn’t control myself.

Fiery, intense anger.

A boiling rage rose from deep inside my heart, and I chose not to resist that feeling even for a moment, but to be consumed by it.

And the result is this.

The death of a life.

Of course, considering that this blonde-haired fairy was an individual who had been harassing Nineve in a mean way, my actions were not unconvincing.

On the contrary, I didn’t like this fairy to the extent that if someone else had done this action instead of me, I would have supported it emotionally instead of resisting it.

But I’m not that kind of person.

Not exactly.

No matter what mistakes he makes, he is not the kind of person who will easily pay the price for his wrongdoing until death.

Do not underestimate the weight of life.

That was the original me.

Even if the other person committed a mortal sin, if I had to kill him myself with my own hands, I would be an ordinary person who would unconsciously think about it at least once.

Furthermore, unless I was alone in this place, I would not act lightly.

This kind of self-destruction of other lifeforms will have a bad effect on the emotional education of Nineveh, who is still sitting on the bridge of my nose.

I can’t even excuse myself that the dragon’s mind has taken over me.

Today was the day after the full moon, and the remnants of the dragon were all disappearing from my heart.

In other words, this is entirely my feelings and my decision.

I have changed.

Like a dragon that is violent, arrogant, and disrespectful of life.

was changing

According to the intention of something other than my will.

perhaps

Maybe I’m gradually losing something.

The morals, ethics, ideas, and spirit of a human being that I originally had have already been twisted and degenerated.

Living as a petit bourgeois in society, my ordinary thoughts, ordinary emotions, and ordinary affection and care for something else are gradually becoming strange.

Is the red dragon taking something away from me?

Just as I brought the power and ferocity of the red dragon, I thought the red dragon might be taking something from me.

The red dragon also changed.

Unlike an arrogant dragon, the red dragon cared for the little fairy under the summer night sky, and the human wielded its power against the small being savagely under the bright sun, unlike a human being.

When you get something, you give something away.

What I feel when I think about it.

fear.

The unknown fear that at some point, I might not be me.

The fear that you will not be yourself without even recognizing the process that is gradually changing.

Am I a dragon or a human?

Is it a human who entered the body of a dragon, or a dragon whose body was stolen by a human?

Am I really me?

“Dragon! “Yong!”

It was Nineve, hanging upside down with her legs dangling from the little horns above my head, staring straight at me, who caught up with the distant accident.

Nineve turned upside down.

As if the direction of gravity had been reversed, long silver hair fell down, and at the top of the hair a small fairy’s face could be seen.

Since I’m not upside down, Nineve must have been upside down.

The little fairy, who was looking directly at me with worried eyes, opened her mouth again.

“Yong-ah, are you okay…? Dragon, are you sick? Nineveh, I kept calling the dragon, but he stayed blank with strange eyes.”

“Oh, uh, no. are you okay. I was thinking about something else for a second.”

“huh. Dragon, you can’t ignore Nineve. Nineveh, I am upset.”

Nodding at my answer, Nineve pulled herself back up and began whimpering to stand upright.

I look ahead as Nineveh scrambles to get back up, moving the leg that was wrapped around my horn.

“…….”

While I was thinking about something else, all the fairies were kneeling on the ground in a row, except for the dead blonde fairy.

The little fairies knelt down and bowed their heads together.

A strange sight reminiscent of the Korean military.

What the hell happened while I was thinking about something else?

“Nineve got it sorted out!”

The answer to that question came not from the fairies sitting in a row, but from Nineve, who spoke with a confident voice above my head.

The little fairy shouted with a proud stance, with sparkling eyes, unable to hide the joy in her voice.

“Now Nynaeve is the leader!”

“…ok?”

“Now that Belle is gone, Nynaeve is the best! All the fairies agreed! They say Nineveh is the best! “They say they like Nineve over Belle!”

“bell?”

A name she had never heard before came out of Nynaeve’s mouth. I had an idea, but I asked again just in case.

Nineveh smiled brightly and kindly explained it to me.

“Yeah, Bell is the fairy that the dragon punished earlier! Bell is the leader of the fairies! Fairies always have a boss! If you want to play with a fairy, you must get permission from the boss! Fairies follow the leader’s instructions! Nineve, you’ve been bullied all this time because Bell wouldn’t let you. But now Nineve is the leader.”

hehehehe – Nineveh smiled brightly and shook her head, clutching her cheeks with her palms as if she were dying of joy.

Voices sporadically erupted from the fairies who were kneeling on the floor.

“No, that’s right! Now Nineve is the leader of the fairies!”

“Nineve is the queen!”

“We like Nineve the best! In fact, I liked Nineveh more than Belle from before!”

“Belle, that b*tch is the worst! He always told us to do this and that, but he never did anything himself. “We actually wanted to play with Nynaeve!”

“hehehehe, Nynaeve. huh? Nineveh, we don’t have to die, right? huh? please…”

Nineveh, smiling brightly, raised both hands and declared. The little fairy speaking confidently in front of the fairies looked as happy as ever.

Even if it was the existence that tormented her, it seemed that she didn’t care at all about the death of a life that had just happened.

“don’t worry! Nynaeve, don’t scold your friend! But Nineveh and the dragon are best friends, so you guys are the rest! The rest of my friends are much less important than the dragon! But still, friends are friends! You have to come to Nineve every day! Understand?”

The fairies accepted Nineveh’s words by lowering their heads or raising their voices in response.

Contrary to the gloomy appearance of the fairies, Nineveh was very bright.

“Dragon, dragon! Nineveh, you have more friends! good, right? But don’t worry, Nineveh, the dragon is the best! Because the dragon is so much better than all the rest of my friends put together!”

“I can abandon all the rest of my friends, but Nineveh can’t abandon the dragon! Because there is only one dragon, Nineveh’s dragon!”

Nineveh’s smile at me.

I thought maybe the Nineve I knew wasn’t everything.

“Isn’t that the purpose too? Huh? Nineve is the most precious, isn’t it?”

Nineveh, maybe.

***

My daily routine has changed a bit.

Normally, the dragon and the little fairy would have been playing together, but after the night I met the fairies, several more beings were added to my daily life.

The rest of Nineveh’s little friends.

Under the name of friends, they were no different from a kind of maids.

It is a toy that adds fun to Nineve’s play, and at the same time, it is like a hand and foot that takes care of Nineve’s troublesome tasks.

A red dragon on a plateau bathed in warm sunlight. And a little fairy sitting on the dragon’s gigantic body.

Around the dragon and the fairy, small beings with beautiful wings were flying around and carrying something.

“Um, Nineve. You might want to eat some yellow fruit. Bring it.”

Nineve, leaning the back of her head against the belly of the dragon while sucking a finger full of sweet juice, said with a languid expression.

“Okay! Nineveh!”

One of the fairies who heard that sound desperately flew towards somewhere.

The elongated yellow fruit Nineve mentioned was a fruit that only grew wild at the edge of the plateau, so it was clear that the fairy that flew away would have to suffer quite a bit as it had to fly a long distance to bring it back.

Mmm. Should Nineve be given moral and ethical education?

But I don’t have the confidence to do well. Even I’m going crazy with something.

I couldn’t be sure that my morals and ethics were the right ideas.

Because I think innocence, good, and evil are just different sides of the dice.

In what form and how to educate and grow Nineveh, is it the right choice?

I didn’t know easily. But no matter how Nineve grows up, I will have no choice but to love her.

Nails that have already been driven in will not come off. It was something close to some kind of emotion that the dragon had taken from me and transformed at will.

Something close to bondage.

The unspoken contract between the red dragon and the fairy on that summer night seemed unlikely to be broken.
