Alien Knights

Chapter 386 Mia and Rachel

In the dungeon of the First Heresy Inquisition, there is a small and dark cell, and the prisoners currently being held in it, even the most senior jailers, are unwilling to take a second look.

A human body with not much flesh and blood lying quietly on the cold ground, the only evidence that he is still alive is his slightly undulating chest.

One eyeball was gouged out alive, and only bloody scars remained at the position of the fingers. Blood froth flowed from the corner of the mouth with every breath, and maggots wriggled in every wound.

The subtle sound of crushing stones sounded from the ground, at first it was just a small crack, and then slowly expanded into a hole.

A short and fat man with a gray face got into the prison, turned around and pulled another tall and thin companion up.

The short and fat man poked the body on the ground with his fingers, and shouted softly: "Mr. Tristan, Mr. Tristan!"

"Shouldn't he be dead?" The tall and thin man scratched his head and said.

The short and fat man frowned and was about to say something, when the moans from the ground made him overjoyed.

"He's not dead yet! Help me and help him up!"

The two hurriedly helped Tristan to sit up. The latter opened his only remaining eye, looked at the two and said weakly, "Who are you?"

The short and fat man patted his chest and said, "Master Rachel sent us to rescue you."

Hearing the familiar name, Tristan squeezed out a smile on his devastated face: "Mia asked you to save me?"

"Mia?" The short, fat man looked at his companions, and said doubtfully, "I remember that I just mentioned Lord Rachel."

The thin and tall man shook his head: "Stop talking so much nonsense with him, get him out quickly! In a while, the guards will be here!"

"I can't go..." Tristan's sudden words shocked the two people in charge of the rescue.

The short and fat man squatted down anxiously, and said anxiously: "Aren't you leaving?! Stay here, are you planning to die?!"

The thin and tall man said viciously: "Look! That's why I said before that we shouldn't come to save people from the church at all! I really don't know what Lord Rachel thinks?!"

"Shut up!" The short, fat man turned his head and glared at his companion fiercely: "The leader's decision has never been missed!"

Listening to the conversation between the two, Tristan said softly: "You don't understand, if I just leave like this, maybe my life can be saved, but the vultures in the church will take advantage of my escape to frame more people, including those who are kind, those who have helped me, and my master, Bishop Abel..."

The short and fat man approached Tristan and shouted in a low voice: "It's this time, you still have thoughts about others?! Do you know? You will be executed at the stake next week!"

Tristan didn't seem to care about all of this at all: "I know that the burning frame was erected in the center of the Vatican Square. I heard that tens of thousands of people will come to watch the burning."

"Since you know, why still...?"

"You may not understand that for human beings, there are more important things besides wealth, power, and life." Tristan looked at the firelight in the corridor outside the prison with his only remaining eye, and said with a smile: "That is the truth."

The thin and tall man sighed heavily, and patted his companion on the shoulder: "Let's go, this guy can't be persuaded at all. If you don't leave, the patrolling guards are coming..."

The short and fat man was still a little unwilling: "Mr. Tristan, you may not know how much effort Mrs. Rachel has put in to rescue you. You must know that it is as difficult as reaching heaven to rescue a person from the heresy inquisition in the Papal State..."

Tristan raised his head slightly, glanced at the man in front of him, and said in a low voice, "There is a secret pocket sewn into the lining of my jacket, please help me take out the contents."

The short and fat man found the other party's hidden inner pocket as he said, and took out a drop-shaped earring from it.

Tristan looked at the earring by the light of the fire, with tenderness in his eyes, and said softly: "Please bring this jewelry to Mia Evandrin for me."

"Mia Evandrin?"

"It's the Rachel you're talking about."

The thin and tall man suddenly pressed his ears to the ground, and said anxiously: "A guard is coming! We must leave quickly!"

The short and fat man carefully put the earrings into his arms, and said to Tristan again: "Sir, after this, we may not be able to help you."

Tristan looked at the two people in front of him and said in a low voice, "Please convey a word to Mia for me."

The short and fat man retracted his lower body into the hole, only showing one head to look at Tristan: "Convey a word? What is it?"

"Please help me tell her: the thing I regret the most in my life is that I didn't have the courage to break through that wall and rescue her from that cage..."

Todd's Soul Space, Institute Atrium Garden.

"It's so rare that you would think of meeting me here." Rachel looked at the flower beds surrounded by flowers and blooming with spring, and said with a smile to the figure sitting on the bench from behind.

Todd turned around, looked at Rachel, raised a dozen beers with one hand, and shook a few boxes of braised vegetables with the other.

Rachel smiled and sat beside Todd, opened a can of beer, threw a marinated peanut into her mouth, and said comfortably: "This is what life should be like."

Todd looked at Rachel's cheerful appearance, smiled and said nothing.

The latter squinted at the former, and said indifferently, "Is your meditation over?"

Todd nodded.

"That crow girl, told you about the declaration of war?"

Todd nodded again.

"Let me guess, you must have returned to Muxi City from the Kingdom of Shadows now, and are preparing for the next war."

Todd nodded again.

Rachel rolled her eyes at Todd: "Can't you just nod and say something?"

Todd looked at Rachel's face, hesitated for a few seconds, and then suddenly said something.

"Let's have a baby."

puff!

A sip of beer was sprayed out of Rachel's mouth, and she knocked over the box of braised vegetables in her hand.

Having known this woman for so long, Todd saw such a "wonderful" expression on Rachel's face for the first time.

Surprise, panic, confusion... and something Todd can't understand.

"Why do you suddenly say such things inexplicably?" Rachel wiped off the wine stains on her body, and straightened her clothes again: "You dragged me in on purpose just to talk about this matter?!"

Todd opened a can of beer, raised his neck and took a big sip, and said in a low voice, "You're so smart, you should be able to think of the reason."

Rachel put the can on the bench, looked at Todd's profile, and sighed: "Is it because of the tyrant?"

Todd took another sip of beer, looked at the fountain in the middle of the garden, and said nothing.

Rachel sighed softly: "Have you made a decision?"

"Do you want to hear the truth or the lie... The lie is that I have no regrets, but the truth is that I began to hesitate." Todd fell back on the bench and laughed at himself. "I have been a human being for decades, and suddenly I have to change to another identity to survive one day. I am a little at a loss."

Rachel stared at Todd's profile, and said quietly: "Did someone say something to you?"

Todd turned his head to look at the woman, and said helplessly, "Rachel, sometimes you're so clever that you scare me."

"Okay, then let's put this matter aside and talk about the child first." Rachel gently held Todd's hand: "I understand your thoughts, but I may not be able to fulfill your wish."

Todd asked strangely: "Why?"

A sad look appeared on Rachel's face, she covered her belly with one hand, shook her head and said, "I have some problems with my body."

Todd frowned and straightened his body: "Are you trying to say that you are infertile?"

Rachel hesitated for a while, and then said: "It's not wrong to say so, but the actual situation may be more complicated. Due to my physical shortcomings, although I always hoped to see your heir, I found a third person twice. Don't you remember? The first time was Karin, and the second time was Deirdre."

Todd understood a little: "You mean, because you couldn't conceive a child, you brought Karin and Deirdre with me..."

Rachel's smile was a bit forced: "Todd, I'm not a magnanimous woman, and I don't want to see my beloved with other women in front of me..."

With guilt in his heart, Todd hugged Rachel, kissed Rachel's forehead lightly, and whispered, "You don't have to do this at all."

Rachel rested her chin on Todd's shoulder, and said softly, "I just don't want to make any shortcomings in your life because of me..."

Todd stroked Rachel's hair and said with a smile: "Let's talk about the child later, I want to talk to you about the future of the kingdom...um...strange..."

Rachel raised her head and looked at Todd suspiciously: "What's wrong?"

Todd touched the top of the woman's head, felt the touch of his fingertips, and said with a smile, "I've never noticed before that there is a small scar on the top of your head."

Rachel pushed Todd's hand away without any trace, and said indifferently: "It's just a scar from being naughty when I was a child. You just talked about the future of the kingdom..."

In a blink of an eye, Todd put the matter of the scar behind him, and began to discuss some matters in Muxi City with Rachel.
