Alien Knights

Chapter 364 The Tyrant's Carnival (1)

After several days of intensive arrangements, Todd finally ushered in the day of the ceremony for the election of the Holy Acropolis throne.

Early in the morning, after Todd washed up and had breakfast, he returned to his room and opened his soul space. He arranged tactical communication for Muxi City and Froststone Camp respectively, and coordinated with Rachel on the cooperation of the Alien Association.

After finishing these things, Todd, who returned to the room, walked to the window, looked at the dense clouds in the sky, felt the slight cool breeze, and said softly: "The storm is coming."

Putting on the holy robe of the church, Todd came to the backyard of the cathedral, and faintly heard a sharp voice.

"You and your teacher are apostates under the rule of Heavenly Father!" Cardinal Jacob, with a gloomy expression, yelled at Tristan viciously: "You must be hiding something!"

The latter raised his chest fearlessly: "Your Excellency Jacob, please pay attention to your words, I have nothing to do with it, but talking about another cardinal is against the teachings of the church."

Before Jacob could say anything more, seeing Todd walking slowly, he swallowed his words, glared at Tristan bitterly, turned and left the backyard.

Todd walked up to Tristan, glanced at Jacob's back, and asked in a low voice, "Is there any trouble?"

"It's just a barking dog." Tristan looked around, pulled Todd's sleeve, came to an empty corner, and whispered: "Although I don't know what the relationship between you and Muxi City is, there is a piece of information that you might be interested in."

"Information? What is it?"

Tristan said with a straight face: "At today's election ceremony for the throne, the church will give up its support for His Majesty Matide."

Todd was slightly taken aback.

Tristan continued: "I don't know the specific reason, but this news comes from a channel inside the church, so it should be reliable... How? Surprising news, right?"

Todd smiled and nodded.

He was indeed a little surprised, but not because of the church's decision to abandon Mathilde, but because Tristan was willing to tell him about it.

"Tristan, thank you." Todd said sincerely: "You did me a big favor."

Tristan smiled and waved his hands: "It's not a big deal, if you can get in touch with the Muxi Mission, let them be more careful."

Todd patted the other person on the shoulder and walked to the carriage at the backyard gate.

The Holy Acropolis is a rather peculiar kingdom. Although it belongs to the Heavenly Father, it still vaguely has the shadow of barbarian tribes in many customs.

For example, the election of the throne. In other parish kingdoms, the king only needs to designate a child to inherit the throne, and then invite the church to preside over the succession ceremony for him, and everything will be fine.

But in the Holy Acropolis, the successor to the throne must first obtain the approval of the majority of the nobles. This method is somewhat similar to the succession of the leader of the barbarian tribe, and the superior must obtain the approval of the majority of the patriarchs. As for the election process, it is called "Throne of Sword" by the people of the Holy Acropolis.

Todd stood in the royal hall of the Holy Acropolis and looked at the hundreds of people around him. The bustling crowd made the place extremely crowded.

Looking at the Muxi Mission, Todd first exchanged glances with Mary.

The latter was in this chaotic place, her face was pale and her fists were clenched, but the moment she saw Todd, her stiff body slowly relaxed.

Todd moved his gaze to the direction of the throne again. Leoric, who was extremely weak, slumped on the throne, his eyes looking at the distant nothingness.

Beside him stood a tall gray-robed man, whose face was covered by a pitch-black hood, and a chain made of bird bones was hung on an oak staff taller than a man.

Todd cheered up and carefully observed every move of the gray-robed man. To his surprise, the other party did not move at all from the beginning to the end, and even his breathing could not see the ups and downs.

"Everyone, please be quiet!" A prominent nobleman walked to the head of the throne and shouted to everyone in the hall: "It's time to elect a new owner for the Holy Acropolis!"

The noble didn't intend to ask Leoric's permission at all, so he proposed the start of the election ceremony without authorization, and his words and deeds seemed to have no regard for the old king at all.

Facing this scene, Leoric sat on the throne, his eyes were still looking into the distance, and his body didn't move at all, as if everything that happened in the hall had nothing to do with him.

Another nobleman stood up. He tilted his head and spat on the ground: "Let's finish this damn thing quickly! I can't wait to see the new king of the Holy Acropolis!"

One nobleman after another sang in unison, and the people cast approving glances and flattering words to the two highnesses in the center of the venue. No one remembered that there was an old man who was dying of old age sitting on the throne.

Amidst people's croaking, two large wooden frames were lifted out.

One was placed to the left of the throne and the other to the right of the throne.

Sinclair first took off his saber and put it on the left wooden frame; while Mathilde put his own saber on the right wooden frame.

Someone yelled: "Let the election begin! What are we waiting for?!"

"Wait a minute!"

At this moment, a person suddenly walked out of the church group.

Cardinal Jacob held a gold-leaf scripture in his hand. Under everyone's gaze, he walked to the front of the throne, slowly opened the document, and said in a loud voice: "In the name of the Father, in order to respect the tradition of the Holy Acropolis and ensure the fairness and justice of the election, Pope Alexander decided to withdraw the secular order granted to His Majesty Matide..."

"What?!" Matide, who was full of confidence a second ago, was struck by lightning when he heard Jacob's announcement.

He waved his arms, ran up to the cardinal in a panic, grabbed the cardinal's sleeve, and shouted sharply: "I don't believe it! You must be lying to me!"

Jacob showed the document. The handwriting of Pope Alexander and the seal of the Cardinal Holy See on it made the nobles around talk a lot, and completely defeated the last trace of luck in Mathilde's heart.

"Why? Why? Why are you doing this?!"

Matide looked at Jacob stupidly, with a dull expression, as if he had lost all hope.

Dion, the head of the Muxi Mission, had a small conversation with Mary. The two glanced at Todd in the crowd, but they saw that the other was shaking his head slightly.

Due to the temporary withdrawal of the church, the nobles began to re-examine the situation one after another, and those who originally supported His Highness Matide began to carefully consider their own choices.

Soon, a nobleman walked out of the crowd, holding a sharp sword with the family crest in his hand, and gently placed it on Sinclair's sword stand.

More and more people began to put the saber representing the family on Sinclair's wooden frame. After a while, Sinclair's wooden frame was filled with all kinds of long swords, while Mathilde's wooden frame was empty.

Ten minutes later, every nobleman represented his own family and completed the voting.

Sinclair won with an absolute advantage without any suspense. He won the support of most people, and he could not see the arrogance after victory. Instead, he greeted everyone humbly, thanked them for their unselfish support, and repeatedly promised to give back to everyone.

Seeing the sincere look on Sinclair's face, Todd felt something churning in his stomach.

If he hadn't known this guy in advance and had a dirty secret agreement with the church, Todd might think he was a pretty good guy. But now, what was left to him was only an indescribable nausea and disgust.

While everyone was celebrating for His Royal Highness Sinclair, a nobleman from the Holy Acropolis walked up the steps of the throne, looked at the "previous king" unscrupulously, and shouted: "Leoric! Get your ass off the throne, it's time to give up your seat to the new king!"

Leoric didn't move.

Todd's hand slowly dissimilated into the form of a tyrant. He first gave Dion and Mary a hidden wink, then looked up at the roof, and slowly closed his eyes.

Just when he was about to execute the plan, something unexpected happened to him...

Perhaps annoyed by Leoric's indifference, the nobleman who walked up to the throne stretched out his hand to drag this old man who refused to give way from the throne of power.

It was too late to say it, but then it was too late, Leoric flipped his palm, and the sword placed by the armrest of the throne, under his master's swing, completed the movements of unsheathing and cutting horizontally in an instant. The sharp blade left a slowly expanding bloodstain on the nobleman's neck.

The nobleman whose throat was slit, held his neck with his hands in disbelief, and the blood was like a fountain, splashing on every corner of the throne.

There was a lotus sound from his throat, and the nobleman's legs went limp, and amidst the screams of everyone in the hall, he fell to the bottom of the steps, completely lifeless.

Dark clouds enveloped the sky, and the sky outside the hall completely darkened. Lightning shot like a golden arrow from the dense clouds and shot towards the earth, and the light in an instant illuminated the entire King's Hall.

Leoric, covered in blood, held a sharp sword in his hand, and his silver-white beard and hair flew with the strong wind that poured into the hall.

He stared wide-eyed, looking at everyone present, none of those invincible nobles just now dared to look directly into his eyes.

Leoric took turns with the sword in his hand, and chopped it down with all his strength. The sword seat representing Sinclair's succession was broken in response, and the weapon symbolizing the power of the nobility was scattered all over the ground.

"No one can drive me off my throne! Not even God!"

Accompanied by Leoric's angry roar, thunder roared outside the hall, and the rain poured down on the city like a waterfall.
