A Wish to Grab Happiness

Episode 76: The Place of Discernment and Meaning

A country like this would be better off dead.

Once a day, Erdis overlooks the aerial gardens of Gaza through the only permitted window in the tower. So I cursed my eyes, hated my chest, and bit my teeth.

There's nothing I can do. I understand that. I have no choice but to decay in this tower for a lifetime. You should die. It would be a much better life if you lost your life early.

But Eldis understood. He said that surviving himself was the means to make the man who imprisoned him here suffer the most. So I'll live today. I give up everything and have a day of nothing with myself and the spirit that will break sooner or later.

That doesn't change that adventurer by the name of Rugis has been imprisoned.

Treating him wounded was only a consolation. I don't care if you live or die, but when you die in front of me, I have trouble where you dump the body.

Besides, the purpose for which he was imprisoned here was clear.

He is a crest man, then, an indisputable enemy to Gaza today, who has joined hands with the Catholic Church. It must be quite important to be imprisoned in the prison of the tower. From the looks of it, I don't think so.

If so, the man's purpose was immediately visible. If he dies here, he's going to blame me. On the contrary, the more he survives, I see, men and women. I suppose he wants to get his hands on me and get this thing dirty.

Apparently, the side of the royal palace is in a lot of a hurry, too. If I don't go crazy in the tower, I won't take hard measures. Unexpectedly, Eldis' eyes narrowed. Eldis has lived in this tower for a long time now. Live without any entertainment and without any difference.

Still, that spirit doesn't break. Even if the feeling of being souled down and corrupted is wrapped up every day.

Eldis was not willing to take even the slightest flirtatious act of stirring up his supporters. Anyway, nothing will happen if you do that. I gave up that there was nothing I could do anymore. When it comes to what you can do, it's enough to survive and harass.

But whatever it was that puts into some kind of hatred or heart, the presence of a fellow roommate wasn't surprisingly bad for Eldis either.

Rugis is crude in its wording and does not think it is of a very noble coming out. It's like I've never dated before.

But he is very good at his intelligence as an adventurer. The story is too interesting. It was as if it were a miracle.

Talk about a knight who destroys a large warcraft, single-ridden.

Talk about a sorcerer who exercises sorcery beyond that reason.

Talk about a hero, like chasing down the sun.

All of this was just a very incredible story, but the narrative was very good. Soon, I'll be drawn to the story. What, secretly, but listening to that story must be added to Eldis's routine is just a leisure time.

That's how Eldis understood that everything was going to be treated.

Prepare the cure today. A healing Shizuku, received by the elf from the grace of the earth. Medicine that rubs herbs together and prevents the wound from putrefying. With this one, you will not die.

Eldis takes another bottle from the cupboard onto that finger and adds it to the medicine. This is the same thing every day.

How can this be, devotional? No, isn't that what it is? This, empathy. To put it badly, it's called sympathy.

I'm sure I feel some empathy for him, because I also feel the smell of giving up somewhere from him. I'm sure there's something deep down in his heart he's giving up, too. I have something I let go of. So we remember each other deep down, empathy that licks the wound.

Not bad. Not bad. Give it up, break it at the end, die. Where I scratched it now, it doesn't matter. If it's something you can scratch and reach, you're doing it. I'm sure that's true of Rugis.

With my father murdered and Finn's position taken away, I just live hatred here on my chest. As it is, I decay.

It's only in the turbulence of history, and that's how it disappears without even brilliance. That's just it.

Erdis pointed his lips, and went to his bed, to go.

- Such a disabling to the princess...

There was, for some reason, a princess towards him, a loyal minister who spoke so, and a figure of Rugis who was unable to leave while wrapped in a futon.

The world goes around. I well understood that it was the same thing, be it the world of man, or the world of elves.

"No opening words, princess."

If you observe him closely, the elf is, indisputably, that commander who welcomed me in front of the royal palace. The woman, Elf, is now kneeling before Eldis and even begging for forgiveness.

Is it something that serves Eldis, or was it something that he once served? I don't know that. But there will be no mistake that that woman Elf has loyalty to Eldis somewhere in her heart. I could see that well.

"Valianne, so stop being that princess. Besides, it's okay. Either way, he or I can't get out of here. If I were to leave, it would be time for my neck and torso to leave."

That's a word that contains some kind of a gist. To her, it was an unlikely word for the existence of Eldis, who would vanquish everything that would serve as a wall.

Well, I can see that it is. I'm sure there are circumstances that I don't understand or need to know.

Yeah, but. But the words, however, crippled the emotions deep in my belly.

"Come on, don't make up your mind, Eldis. I don't remember ever saying that."

Sitting on the bed, he causes his body to tremble, still moving only bluntly, and clasps his shoulders.

I guess I heard that word. A woman called Valianne, an elf who until earlier treated me as if I wasn't there, turned her sharp eyes to this side. I have often seen the color of those eyes. It's the color of the upstream man getting angry at the downstream man's disrespect and looking down.

Eldis was Eldis, and he had a strange twinkle in my words.

Do you mind? Nothing. Not with her, not with Eldis, doesn't mean something. It's just that we've been locked up here for a while.

Slowly wetting his lips, he threw words at the princess and the knight who vowed allegiance.

"He sounds stupid. You're free to give up on things. It will only be included in the turbulence at will, and I hope you like it."

I felt cloudy emotions tremble through my chest. Deep down, there is still fear of Eldis. I feel the occasional exhalation is likely to disturb me.

"But I want you to let me go. I don't feel like taking you on the road. Whatever you do, you still have to stop doing it. It's a life of flushing and getting caught up in, I'm sorry."

I suppose so. Totally, it's called the Virgin, it's called the Elf Princess, and it conveniently involves this one. I have a purpose. I have my will. Not a puppet, not a pawn conveniently grabbed.

I'm the last one to decide everything. Nothing else. Any tragic outcome, even if it was a silly settlement, it was all chosen by my will.

The turbulence of history is made by the gifted. I know that very well. Like me, there's no way I can create that flow. That's why, at least, for about one of my own will, isn't it good that I wanted to make up my mind? Gyu, I held my fist, sometime.

Is that why you were immersed in your emotions?

I, for a moment, was late to notice her change.

"Heh, yeah. You didn't give up."

It was Eldis who leaked his voice into the room, as he responded to the words. The unexpectedness makes my heels tremble a little.

I thought it was a female elf, called Valianne, who eats and hangs on to these words. How loyalty is such a woman. If you tell me about Erdis, you won't have to open your mouth.

Plus, Eldis doesn't let his emotions tremble over anything I say.

Yes, I thought so.

"Yes. Then you should try that... Valianne"

Eldis's voice, which conveys his ears, is terribly cold. It was also felt that the room temperature had dropped as-is so as to resonate with that voice. My lips shake like they were frightened. That's not just me, that Valianne, same.

Valianne, kneel down and respond to Eldis' words.

"I dismissed the example you were saying, but keep it moving. Apparently, he, Rugis, really wants an unusual way to die."

The voice is colder and worse. Bigeye looked at me and felt it. The floating colors, really, are like looking at bugs, those eyes.

For the first time in this era, it was the face of Erdis.
